you gotta think regardless of the season so far, Central remembers that Lumberton shut them out last year. that alone will be motivation for em to return the whippin they took last year. Central by 21.
The one thing that keeps me from saying that is the way Central played PN-G my senior year. Everyone, me and Soulja included, thought the Jags were going to come in and play their hearts out against PN-G. I honestly thought there was a good chance we were going to lose that game. Central was 6-0 in district, had clinched the district title and was poised to take full revenge against the Indians for the 2009 miracle comeback that swiped Central's share of that district title and handed them a double overtime loss in what everyone thought at the time would be the Jags' last game in the Babe. What actually happened? Central looked flat the whole game. PN-G won at home, 49-19, and gave Central its only district loss to make them 7-3 on the season. Central is, far and away, the more talented team in this game and has been in several others the last two seasons. They just aren't playing like it. Soulja believes he knows why and I don't see how he could be wrong given the circumstances, but whatever the case may be, I have to give the edge to Lumberton in this game. Sorry Soulja.

A lot of them act friendly when they are doing well, but when the wheels fall off, all of the sudden everyone else (Ned, Vidor, Ozen) isn't really that good.. Now get ready for the denials to flood in. It's very similar to how they are the most tradition-rich program with the best fans who always pack the stadium and never leave early... Well we've seen how that's gone this year... ::)
Ah, yes. I'm a PN-G fan, so my opinion can't be valid, and the all-knowing GoDogs27 sees right through my thinly veiled evil plan to make all of the district look bad because of early perceptions of this year's PN-G team. ::)
:) never said you had a plan. You said what you said and that was your opinion, although to make such a definitive statement shows there is a little emotion behind it lol, and I have seen this countless times before. I was just wondering not too long ago when it would come out. I don't trust an Indian as far as I can throw him.
No emotion, just an opinion based on what we've seen so far this year. I think a game between WO-S and Nederland or Vidor would be one of those games where the first team to 17 or 21 would win it. I don't think Vidor is capable of that; I think WO-S has more than enough speed on defense to shut down their run-heavy offense and force them to a passing game that hasn't been a strength the past two seasons against one of the best secondaries in the state. Nederland would prove a better match-up in my book, but I still think WO-S would pull that one out in the end. And by the way, can't trust an Indian... you mean you don't know anyone from Port Neches or Groves you feel you can even remotely trust? At all? -
FYI Bamakid -- It's not LCM homecoming. I got LCM in this one. The Bears are hungry for the first win.
Thought I saw an LC-M fan say that somewhere, but ok. Also, if LC-M wins, it won't be their first one.

WO-S is basically sporting a college defense; last I checked, 6 of the 11 starters have DI offers and they've recorded three shutouts on the season so far against quality opponents. The only aspect of WO-S I'd be worried about in a game against Nederland or Vidor would be their offense, which is talented but somewhat inexperienced and inconsistent. Nederland and Vidor might be able to exploit that but I don't think either offense would be able to score enough against WO-S's defense to take full advantage of it.
Well then we must agree to disagree because i just simply see it differently.
Ok. -

LC-M, for whatever reason, thinks we're their rival (think Nederland-Vidor). Plus this is their homecoming. You can count on them to be motivated to play. That said, the only 20-4A team we never lost to while I was in high school was LC-M. We went 3-1 against most teams - Lumberton, Vidor, Central, Ozen - broke even against Nederland and had losing records to Livingston (1-2) and Dayton (0-1). The one team whose number we just seemed to have was LC-M. Even during Crouch's first two years, 2009 and 2010, years when LC-M was going to beat PN-G and march into the playoffs on the backs of Hunter Gonzales and the stable of WRs he commanded, PN-G won and during the season after I graduated in 2011, won decisively. Even in 2008, our disaster year, we rolled right over LC-M (I think 34-7 was the final score). Now history means nothing on the football field. LC-M's stats show a balanced offense that divides the ball pretty evenly between Sezer on the ground and Doyle through the air. It also a shows a productive offense that has put up more than thirty points a game the last three games running. I'm confident that we can corral Sezer and at least slow down the run. I'm concerned about the passing game because our secondary has been our weakness on that side of the ball, but if we key in on Doyle, who seems to be the workhorse behind LC-M's passing game, we might be able to slow that down a little too. Offensively, LC-M doesn't seem to have much defense against the run, and our running game was our strength this past week. We really seem to be getting the running game going with Medina and Wommack. Also, AJ seemed much improved against Lumberton compared to past games, so I feel we can mix in the pass effectively to keep LC-M's defense honest. We can win this, but it's going to be a fight. PN-G is going to have to treat every game from here on out like a playoff game if the Indians want to be alive in the postseason. So with that said.... Port Neches-Groves Indians 38 Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears 31 Final
I dont think they beat Lumberton the way Lumberton ran on PNG.
Central lost close games to West Brook and Memorial and lost by 14 to WO-S. Those aren't bad losses. Lumberton had scored 8 total points on the season before putting 25 on PNG tonight. That tells me more about how bad PNG's Defense is this year than how good Lumberton's offense is.
Lumberton's offense only put up 19 of those points. They scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery (I believe it was our only fumble of the night) and missed the PAT. Two of the other three touchdowns came on big plays very early in the game that we did not let happen again. Our defense adjusted and Lumberton's offense put up only one more touchdown the rest of the game. PN-G showed improvement this week, and I think this is one of those games where the score wasn't really an accurate reflection of the game. I'm not counting Central out for the rest of the year, but I do think Lumberton will win this game. Didn't they beat Central last year?
