We'll make the playoffs. I feel confident of that. How far we'll go is another story. -

Unless your returning alot of starters theres no difference between last year and the seventies. Thats the only reason I used png for an example.
Wasn't trying to. Just giving BrenhamFan a quick rundown to add to his knowledge of high school football. 8) -

Png has alot of titles dont see them in the top ten. This year I think vidor will be good.
3 of Aledo's 4, we're in the last 3 years. PNG's were in the 70's right? Time will tell how Vidor will do.
Three appearances with two titles in the '50s, two appearances with a title, a #3 national ranking and a national attendance record that still stands today in the '70s, and an appearance and the Astrodome's all-time high school attendance record in 1999. -

Our district championship year, 2010, you took a loss on the chin to us. Had it been at the Butch, you'd have been taken to the woodshed. You played a weak Central team in 2011. Second of all, you're tax dollars will NOT be missed. Maybe Vidor can better utilize them. Seems like they need it more . Because a know a lot of Vidorians that dont like how VISD is ran. Smh. Vidor has 1 good season and now fans can say 'we havnt lost a game there yet. Shoot, count how many games they've lost at Durly, Babe Zaharius, and Lamar stadium (Ozen's old stadium).
My point is I have seen two games there and the team I was supporting won both and that kinda makes a person's memory of a location more positive. I have numerous reasons to enjoy DA BUTCH, one of which is I only pay $7 if I chose to. Pretty good deal, lots of district teams have crappy facilities and or parking, I wish all the Pirates away games were there. As far as one good season goes, I guess your the type that can only enjoy the Win, and can only appreciate the boys effort when they come out victorious. I think every season and game are a great one. Even the last time Vidor and Central played at Babe, six quarters of great ball Your too sensitive and read too much into posts ::)
If I read too much into it, I appologize. I do agree about that 6 quarters of football. I call that game to this day the 'thunder (2009 Vidor) and lightening (2009 Central)'.
And the last time PN-G and Central played at the Babe was an even better game. ;) ;D

If football were a democracy, PN-G, Nederland and Vidor would be going to the playoffs and Central and Ozen would be going to a run-off.

Twelve consecutive district titles says it all. Athletically? I believe we have overall winning records against Nederland in every sport except boys' and girls' basketball, track and possibly boys' soccer (it'd be very close either way). I know we have winning records in football, volleyball and softball and our boys' golf team (which made it to state this year) has been unmatched for several seasons. Baseball is admittedly a question mark after the last few seasons but I believe the record does favor PN-G overall. In the performing arts? Our choir has nine consecutive "Outstanding" ratings at the state competition in San Antonio to its name and our band has been to the state marching competiton numerous times while Nederland's has yet to go once. And I know you're not talking about fan bases. ;)
Oh bama kid, you knew that I wasn't talking about what happened back in the day when Nederland's schools were actually still new...I was referring to recent history (but you know that already)...until PNG beat Nederland in baseball this year (admitedly, PNG was better), Nederland had beaten them two consectutive years in football, two years of sweeps in basketball and a previous year sweep in baseball to go along with back to back district track titles...until PNG won district in baseball this season, Nederland was reigning district champs in football, basketball, track, and baseball.
Recent history, huh? How about back-to-back district titles in boys' golf, boys' soccer and girls' soccer? And if I remember correctly, one of those boys' soccer teams swept and dethroned a state-ranked Nederland team.

BH still has yet to take sweepstakes over PN-G at a pre-district meet. ;) ;D But congratulations on One Act Play. -
I know it'll never work out this way, but I think they need to choose the Alamodome. It's in a centralized location. I understand that Cowboys Stadium is nicer, but it would serve a number of school budgets better to have the championships in one of the state's most centrally-located stadiums, and travel costs are a big issue amidst all these funding cuts. Unless of course PN-G goes, in which case we're going to need Cowboys Stadium. All of it. ;D

I can't really give a ranking because I don't know enough about the other teams this year, but I feel confident saying Nederland, PN-G and Vidor (not necessarily in that order) will make the playoffs. I'd like to think Central will be the fourth playoff favorite, but that's a big question mark after last year. The other team I feel has real playoff chances is Ozen. -
