Vidor thinks everyone is their rival, 2. No one thinks twice about, "cares about", or considers Vidor their rival. As a pirate fan I love it. Strategically speaking, this would put us at a definite advantage in any given competition. Honestly, which mindset would you rather your players have? By the way, I like the Redman vs Whiteman Bowl.
I don't think anyone's said that Vidor thinks everyone is their rival or that a team should overlook Vidor, especially not this year. I think all that's been said is that Vidor's so-called "rivalry" isn't really a rivalry. It's just Vidor hating Nederland more than the other teams on its schedule while Nederland looks at Vidor the same way as five its other district opponents.
To most people "hating" a team makes them your rival.
To most people, the other team hating you back makes them your rival.
Not really. Serena and Venus Williams love each other off the tennis court. But on the court they are fierce rivals.
We're not talking about tennis and siblings playing each other individually, we're talking about football and teams. Different situations.
It doesn't matter what the situation is. The definition of rivals are the same no matter what sport.
A rivalry implies mutual feelings between the involved parties. With siblings competing in an individual sport, that's much easier to establish and stems from their common backgrounds and circumstances. That's much harder to establish for football teams and schools in general. Nederland does not view Vidor in the same respect that Vidor views Nederland. Therefore, no rivalry exists.
This is just a continuing circle Bamakid. Your definition of rivaly's and my definition differ. I think it doesn't take both parties to think there is one for there to be one. If one team looks at another team as there rival then that is a rivalry IMO.
Maybe so. -
Well to us a rival is someone who you don't like more than the other teams. Not who's closest to you or whatever. And IMO we don't like PNG and Nederland the most out of the 20-4A teams.
Even if Vidor doesn't want to consider any school other than Nederland a rival, there will not be a rivalry between the two schools until Nederland feels the same way about Vidor. The same goes for LC-M's feelings about PN-G. -

They're desparate for respect and think a rival will help. May I suggest LCM - you know the school closest to you, in the same county, on the same side of the river. Good luck and best wishes to the Bearly-Pirate Rivalry.
that would be the BOJO vs VIDO rivalry
That's who it needs to be. LC-M considers us their rival. Never understood how the two Orange County 4A teams could pick the two Mid-County teams as their rivals when they're basically next door to each other.
Maybe cuz we genuinely don't like the midcounty teams.
That doesn't make it a rivalry. Both schools have to consider each other rivals for it to be a real rivalry. No offense, but Nederland hardly pays any attention to Vidor outside of one week out of the year and the same is true for PN-G in regards to LC-M. If LC-M and Vidor want a true rivalry, they need to consider each other rivals. From an outside perspective, the schools aren't all that different and they're not very far from each other. That rivalry would make more sense. -

Yet everyone thinks it's O.K. to bunch ALL PNG fans together as "whiners", whether they actually do or not. And after the schooling that LCM got last night, that's all I've read on here from you guys is WHINING!!!! Suck it up and just admit that you got taken to the woodshed, and quit complaining about things as trivial as taking a knee, for Christ's sake. You guys can dwell on this all yr. if ya want, but we're looking towards Vidor right now. BTW, why don't you folks take this issue up with the UIL, if it's REALLY that important to ya. Oh, and I hope that Sessar kid is OK. I DID pray for him while you're fans were busy BOOING us!.
Just so you know not to assume too much as a select few around here do. I was abovetherim and was a moderator on the the Lamar forum for a couple years. So, I've been around for a while. "In reality doesn't exist"? Well, I'm typing at 5:00AM, I have a pretty good job and if you're ever at Christus St. Elizabeth you'll probably see me. So, that is a ridiculous statement and you are generalizing me with all LC-M fan's which is pretty hypocritical since you doing the same thing you are accusing me of doing. Which for a fact if you read all my post I never did. You must have a reading problem as I never stated PNG guys were whiners. I was saying not all LC-M fans were whiners. Big difference there my friend. Here is my post on the subject of the other team taking at knee. Nice post JF as I attended another game but I can tell you if one of our players are seriously hurt my only focus is on that young man/lady and what our trainers and medical staff or doing. I would hope the LC-M kids would be worried about a fellow team-mate and huddle around and maybe say a prayer but I could care less what the other team is doing. Both mid-county schools have great tradition and passionate fan's Then I wasn't booing anyone as I was at the WO-S vs BC game.
Now that is what i call ownage.
You'd call it "ownage" if that guy was a three year old hitting random letters as long as he was responding to a fan of either PN-G or Ned. ;) ;D
*sigh* Here we go again. ::) [Hidden Content] Should knee be taken for hurt football players? The recent collection of letters to the editor and frequent chants from the stands on Friday night seems to make it clear fans are focused on the latest high school football trend: taking a knee when a player is injured. The genesis of the practice is unclear. It could have come from soccer or football at pee-wee levels, where kids are asked to drop to one knee not so much out of respect but to keep them under control while the coach tends to the injury. But somewhere along the line, as the players grew out of youth leagues and into high school, the on-field genuflect has come along for the ride.
