You do realize that they teach the same dance to every single tour that they give on there reservation. Sorry PNG but your not special. LMAO 8)
I never said that we are special for that reason (although I do think it's pretty neat considering that there are only two schools not located on actual reservations to bear that distinction). All I said is that the leadership of that particular tribe disagrees with the poster I quoted.
Actions speak louder than words Bama kid. You may not say you are special but you sure as heck do act like it with the mascot thing. I mean honestly man come on. If i said that one of the pirates from the Med Sea came and taught our mascot how to speak pirate language and how to act like a pirate and that we take our mascot very seriously and we are very special cuz we got chosen by the pirates of the med. Now tell me if i said that you would not laugh at me?
Actions speak louder than words? This is a messageboard. Words are just about the only thing on here. Vidor being adopted by Somalian pirates is completely different than PN-G being adopted by a sovereign American Indian nation (and somehow, I think you know this). Putting the two in the same category is what I would find laughable.

Vidor played at PNG and fans threw things at the Vidor band's bus. Personally, I find the Indian's dancing mocking Native Americans more than anything else. The term "Indian" in and of itself is offensive. And I sincerely hope LCM did not pay a dime to clean anything for PNG. I certainly wouldn't. And as far as not allowing us to play our school song not being intentional. I am sure it was. The band director looked like he honestly couldn't believe the slight. And this entire discussion has proven my point.
Funny. Apparently the Chief of the Cherokee Nation and the Council of Elders disagree with you. After all, they did adopt us in 1980 because they were impressed by how we represented them. LC-M had to pay to fix the costume.
Yeah. And blackbeard the pirate showed up as a ghost and gave the pirate mascot a 6 hour lesson on how to speak like a pirate lmao
Are you doubting what I say?
Considering the lowest point total by PNG in the three years under Faircloth is 21, I don't see LCM holding us to 10. So if LCM is to pull the upset it will be a high scoring affair.
Our defense was one of the teams to hold PNG 21.
You know, after the week PN-G had had before that game, I have to wonder what Faircloth said to those boys to have them rally like they did in the second half. Going from down 20-0 to the state's #2 team at halftime to a 27-21 loss on an interception made with a minute left on the clock is a heck of an achievement. There were two different PN-G teams that played that game. -

round 1 20-4a playoff matchups
Thats a 3-1 for 20-4a =P unless the cougs pull out some magic fairy dust and make the Vidor backs trip and fall. Vidors bigger than PNG? school size wise?
Yes. Nederland, PN-G and Vidor are sandwhiched very close together (like, between 1400 and 1450 or something like that) with Nederland being the biggest and PN-G being the smallest. -
Here we go again ::) .. Your kicker could barely make an extra point that night. The decision to go for it was the right one. Not saying the kicker couldn't normally handle it but he barely cleared the crossbar on an extra point that night...
Valencia was off for some reason that night. That kid can send the ball out the back end of the endzone on kickoffs - he's done it before. He's also an excellent soccer player.

And don't it just get under your skin that Vidor considers both mid county teams our rivals but they are the opposite of us. We are country people with farms and four wheelers and boots and mud and yall are rich people with your fancy cars and big houses and noses up in the air. Thats why we don't like yall. And go ahead. Consider yourself another game on your schedule. We love it when you overlook us.
I just spewed my caviar and champagne all over my keyboard. ;D
It doesn't matter what kinda contest, we want to win. Especially if we are going against Nederland. If they had a competition to see who could throw the most rocks in a trash can from 25 feet away we would be out cheering our team to victory. We want to be the best. At everything. But if we can't be the best, we will usually settle for beating Nederland. And where are you finding this stuff out about that Livingston is heavily favored? Because most of the talk i've seen is that Livingston O is stoppable and Nederland stopped them and until last week when Nederland defensively destroyed a team we were pretty much putting up the same numbers lol. Now i do agree with you on the PNG game. It is a toss up cuz we are playing at the Rez and yall are putting up very high numbers offensively and yes most of your receivers are in the top ten but our defense has shut down high powered offenses before and we will have Bolinger back for that game and all four of our running backs are in the top 15 also. So i guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Vidor may be putting up the same numbers as Nederland defensively, but Vidor still hasn't faced Livingston and PN-G. Nederland has faced both. I doubt Vidor will put up defensive numbers against these two teams similar to Nederland's. Vidor/PN-G is a toss-up, and I'm picking Livingston against the Pirates.
Again i say. How is Livingston favored?
People prob think that Livingston is the favorite b/c other than the Nederland game, they are putting up 45 points per game. In addition, Vidor beat Lumberton in a close game 30-26, whereas Livingston beat Lumberton 49-7. I'm not saying that Livingston will win, but I can see why they might be the favorite. The other common opponent was Nederland which Vidor played a closer game than did Livingston, so Pirate fans could use that angle as being favorites. Should be a good game.
That's pretty much it. The only 20-4A team that has matched Livingston offensively is PN-G (point-wise, they're tied for the top spot and PN-G slightly exceeds Livingston's average yards total). Livingston has a heck of a running game that I just don't think Vidor can stop. Sure, Vidor's put up some pretty good defensive numbers, but the Pirates also haven't faced the two top offenses in the district yet. Those numbers could be totally flipped in a couple weeks. But hey, I'd be lying if I said that I haven't been surprised before. That's the nature of the game.
Something Vidor knows very well. ;D
Yeah, we do!! Except we're administering them this year....
I've got to hand it to Vidor - they've far exceeded expectations this year. I was shocked when the Pirates pulled off the win against Texas High - that game had me rethinking playoff predictions, and it looks like I was right to reconsider. With that said, I wouldn't be counting unhatched chickens just yet. You've had unexpected success so far this year. That's great for your community, your program and your team. That doesn't mean you're going to win out. You still have Livingston and PN-G to face. Like it or not, there's no clear winner in the PN-G/Vidor game (even as a hardcore PN-G fan, I think it's a toss-up) and the Lions are heavily favored in the Livingston/Vidor game. Good luck to Vidor in Weeks 8 and 10 and may the best team win in Week 9. Also, you guys have my deepest sympathies regarding the loss of Matt Thomas. Scalp 'em.
