If by district (BISD is listed instead of its three individual high schools), Nederland, PN-G, H-F, Lumberton, Bridge City, Orangefield, and I believe H-J and Silsbee are all Recognized.
PNG High was just acceptable. They PNGISD did have 4 schools that were recognized I believe....that is to say if this is based on the TEA scores from BH fan posted a link to in another thread.
PN-GISD had four Exemplary schools, two Recognized schools and three Academically Acceptable schools. By comparison, we had four Recognized schools and five Exemplary schools last year, being one of the only (I believe the only) large distrct in the Golden Triangle area to have no schools with less than a Recognized rating. The state's new accountability guidelines hurt us... a lot.
Outside of what we have going on at the reservation, I'd have to say the Vidor Homecoming halftime and the "Chain Gang" Defense at WOS! As much as it pains me to say this, I also love Nederlands run through music at there place. Metalica gets me pumped everytime!!!
Vidor's homecoming show is awesome and well worth the fight against the traffic, even if it is the only event where PN-G fans are regularly outnumbered. -
Toughest Rivalries In South East Texas

I believe a magazine listed Mid-County Madness as the third fiercest rivalry in the state. Maybe someone else can post a link; I don't remember which magazine it was. As for fans per capita, Indian Stadium can seat the entire city of Port Neches, and there are typically people standing in the aisles and around the fence for MCM. Considering that the stadium seats 13,000 and there are ~45,000 residents in the Mid-County area, we're talking about one in three people attending the game, not to mention the countless thousands listening to the radio and internet broadcasts and, these days, watching the TV broadcast both in Mid-County and around the world (that's no joke), I'd say it's probably one of the most followed high school rivalries on the planet. Scalp 'em.
I remember a story about a teacher's first day there in Nederland. To explain the PN-G, Nederland rivalry, her principal took her into the kindergarten class, where they all took out their purple crayons, broke them in half and threw them in the trash. She realized then she was not dealing with anything explainable to anyone else........Now that's a rivalry
The other side to that story is that all PN-G kindergarteners are taught the fight song on the first day of school and that they're all given a picture of an Indian and a purple crayon to take home. Many PN-G elementary teachers grade in purple ink; my first grade teacher drove an old purple cadillac. At every pep rally the week of MCM, the football team is given a stuffed bulldog that they stab with Indian Spirit's spear and tear up in the gym. On spirit day, it's not uncommon to find multiple students walking the halls covered in purple and white body paint and there were rumors last year that both districts were bringing their elementary classes into their computer labs to vote in the Channel 12 Band of the Week competition (the computer kids at both high schools literally wrote autovote programs). Trash on the high school lawns, purple and white feathers and dog bones dumped at random places in all three cities... Mid-County is an unrestricted, anything-goes war zone one week out of the year. Let me put it this way: I'm flying all the way back from Alabama to be at Indian Stadium for the Nederland game this year, but don't tell my mom that; she thinks I'm coming back for her birthday. ;D -

Best SouthEast Texas Team ever??
PN-G bamatex replied to D3zii's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The '77 PN-G team should also be up there because it was undefeated going into the championship, which it lost 13-10 (not sure if that was the year with the #3 national ranking; that may have been the '75 team). It might also be a good idea to look at the PN-G teams from the 50s; three state championship appearances in a row doesn't happen often. The '99 team deserves some credit as well. -

Question about Mid County Madness

The championship itself attracted a little over 39,000 fans (34,000 sat on the PN-G side), which set the record for a high school game at the Dome. -
I wouldn't say it would have to be held at Reliant but it would definitely require some room. I'd probably say The new BISD stadium. It looks pretty big and looks like it could hold the town of PNG and Nederland in it lol. But that would definitely be a ticket I would have to get and not miss. Better arrive at like 3 if you wanna get good seats lol.
The BISD stadium is actually smaller than Indian Stadium; ours seats 2,500 more people. If it were to be held locally, it would have to be held at Lamar, but I would spring for a larger Houston area stadium because the extra tickets would undoubtedly offset the increased transportation costs. Throw in the prestige of a late round playoff game, the easier access for out-of-town PN-G and Nederland fans, and the electric atmosphere of Mid-County Madness, and the crowd could easily exceed 30,000. That's no exaggeration; PN-G crowds alone have been known to exceed 20,000 in the later rounds of the playoffs leading up to the state championship. No SETX stadium can handle crowds of that size. -

I knew it the moment I saw the username. It's a shame that some people are so obsessed with an internet messageboard that they have to try and sneak their way in after multiple banishments just to stir the pot. I don't know who wos08 is, but he seems like a college-age DickVitale. At least he didn't throw out any names this time. Maybe... hopefully that's his way of trying
One of the PNG guys can correct me if I am wrong, but I think there are GA seats available at the Res. You need a connection in town to get the tickets the day they go on sale. They are usually sold out pretty quick.
The section farthest to the north on the home side is the GA section. And you're absolutely right about the in-town connection.

Question about Mid County Madness
PN-G bamatex replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
If that were going to happen, PN-G and Nederland would both have to be DI with the current district makeup, and neither Central nor Vidor could be in the playoffs because either would knock PN-G down to DII. In other words, it's highly unlikely. However, if it were to happen, it would be insane. It'd have to be held at Reliant to hold everyone and I-10 would be backed up all the way to Winnie. -
*PNG will make the playoffs as long as they keep it in their budget $$$! *Good coaching staff will make up for whatever talent they are lacking ! * They have no more talent then other school in their district but $$$$$$ Wins games !
Here we go.... Before anything further is said on this issue, I think it should be pointed out that before the budget cuts, PN-G's athletic budget was approximately half (that's right, half, and that was before budget cuts) the size of athletic budgets of districts of similar size (i.e. Nederland) and that our MS coaching staffs were actually smaller than the typical MS coaching staff in a 4A system prior to Coach Faircloth's arrival. It should also be noted that PN-G earns more money from football (as well as certain other sports) than almost any other school due to the size of the PN-G fanbase and the consistent annual qualifications for postseason play. I am assuming, of course, that BOBCAT is referring to the incorrect, although widespread, rumor that PN-G spends all of its money on football and football alone and that the district and community at large only care about football. Hopefully, that is a mistaken assumption.

PN-G, no question.
