1. to honor our veterans. Today is the USMC's birthday and tomorrow is Veteran's Day. Thanks to all who have served. A community like Southeast Texas would not exist if it weren't for the contributions of our men and women in uniform.

I would like to go but I have to find out if I'm off first.
The PNG side will be sold out, but there will probably be plenty of extra tickets for the BH side....
Season ticket holders get first picks which I think is around 4500 people. Then student tickets. This is for PNG side. Once again a mistake to have it at a small stadium. There will be alot of PNG fans unable to attend. I think each side only holds 5 or 6,000 people. Who came up with this place? I would've rathered Stallworth >:(
I heard today that there are only 4,000 tickets available to PN-G fans at this time. We have 4,200 season ticket holders. I don't know if there's really only 4,000 available tickets but if there are, there will be alot of angry PN-G fans and a very crowded visitors' side at the Butch Bowl.
 3. It looked to me like the Jaguars were flat wore out, but they still hung in there. I don't think we saw the Jaguar team that won the first six district games tonight, but I do think they'll be ready for next week. Good luck in the playoffs, Jags. Scalp 'em, Indians! What a game.
 4. Happy Birthday. I'm sure you'll be out having a good time ton... oh, wait, you've got to give us all the weather report. ;)

Having the football players warm up on the field while the Nederland band was still marching. Disrespectful and disappointing in my opinion. I lost a lot of respect for Lumberton tonight.
Wow! Was Nederland on the field???? I thought it was Lumberton... who knew.... i mean what color is lumberton anyway??!!! :o i thought they were columbia blue red and silver..... but i guess they are black now too... (at least the band is) i dont think they meant any disrespect to your band (who did great) i think they must have thought it was their band!!!  ;D
It looks like the Lumberton Mighty Raider Band is pretty mighty, they are possibly the only band I have seen that doesnt have to support their school colors.
i would bet PNG would not allow their band or anyone else representing their school to step foot on the field and disrespect PURPLE! way to honor your school colors lumberton!
Many bands have opted for black uniforms (or at least black pants) because they don't show stains as easily. Doing so is that band's choice, and Lumberton's uniforms - even if they have very little red and blue on them - do look sharp. That said, you are absolutely right about our uniforms. If the Indian Band were to step onto the field in a black uniform, I would be shocked if we weren't booed out of the stadium. That would be akin to skipping the Marching I in my book. Our uniforms our almost entirely purple and white, with only a few black lines and some silver detailing.
 7.
Who wtches the band anyways? Not me ;D I've seen some that should be playing football though instead of band. This thread is insane!!!!!!! Sorry guys and gals, I go to watch football period.
Gee, thanks.... ;) On a side note, sometimes things are said at a football game that... well, just shouldn't be said. I can remember some things that were said at a few games over the last few seasons both by PN-G fans and students and fans and students of other schools (Lumberton included) that were derogatory, insulting, and, in one case, downright wrong. That said, I don't think it's right to judge the whole community for those actions. I can think of one case where a football player from another town said something that was VERY, VERY wrong to a fellow PN-G band member at an away game last year. As mad as I was at that football player, I don't think the whole town thinks the same way or would say something like that. When we were playing our introduction video at our game last Friday, LC-M's team ran out onto the field and their band played their fight song, interrupting our video. Do I think that was intentional? No (it was probably just poor timing), but even if it was, I wouldn't characterize the entire LC-M community as a bunch of poor sports. The incident involving the music in Nederland may have been (and probably was) purely accidental on the Nederland multi-media team's part. Football games involve cramming several thousand people (many of them teenagers in high-stress situations) into a fairly small space. Tensions are going to run high sometimes and people are going to say things that would better be left unsaid. Is it right? No. Is that fact going to stop everyone? Probably not. They are also going to make mistakes, and isolated incidents like these are just a part of life that we all have to deal with that shouldn't justify the judgment of an entire community like Nederland or Lumberton. But then again, what do I know? I'm just a member of the band. ;D
 8. I clicked on this link thinking it was going to be a PN-G-related thread... :D Oh, well. We'll do our part... in Vidor. ;D
 9. Just a few comments about bands at football games: Many times, bands will only play when their team is on offense. Apparently, the opposing coach can ask for a penalty against your team if your band is playing while the other team has the ball. The UIL thinks it is unfair to use the band to distract players. Also, coaches will often ask band directors not to play when the team is on defense for this very reason. Although that is no longer the case at PN-G, it was during the Burnett era. This may or may not be the case with Central. The way I remember it, the Jaguar Band always played non-stop, no matter who was on offense.

You've got to put on something purple. ;)
 11. Thanks to the Chief of the Cherokee Tribe up in Oklahoma, the name will probably stay the same for as long as the school exists.

 15. It's been posted on the main page of www.pngindians.com and it sounds great. Former students and fans taking time out of their day to do something like this is another example of the Indian pride that the PN-G community is known for.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!   The Lions will have to do a good job of containing Steve Doty he is a decent QB!!!!   The disrespect showed to the Livingston Lions on this board never ceases to amaze me you guys can't even refer to Lion players by their correct name of identify the college they attend. Wait I guess you guys got Dustin Harris mixed up with all the former injuns playin the Big 12. The Livingston Lions will pound the football right down them injun throats and win 31-21 mark it down.
Ok guys I know I might get in trouble for letting the cat out of the bag, but I just can't handle all this one dimensional stuff. The Lions will unveil a secret weapon this week they have been spending at least 20 minutes every practice working on a five wide spread attack and word is they plan to use it almost exclusively against the Indians. I almost forgot one other thing the Lions have a big wideout that has been injured all year 6'5" and runs a 4.4 he was cleared to play this week buy coaches elected to hold him out of Ozen game. So I really hope the Indians spend all week working on stopping the run, they will be in for a big surprise Friday night in "The Jungle"
22.
The Lions have the same ground based offense that allowed them to got three rounds deep in '07, manhandle PNG in '08, and play Dayton down to the wire '08. Note highly ranked Brenham only managed to put up 28 against Huntsville while the run based Lions hung a 40 spot on em so ya'll be the judge.
I'm not saying that a ground-based offense isn't great when you have the players for it, it's just predictable and something that a solid defense shouldn't have much trouble with. And you're correct in saying that this same offense allowed Livingston to "manhandle" PN-G in 2008... along with every other team in this district except LC-M... because of our easily predictable play-calling.... Ground-based offenses, at least in my experience, are "hit and miss" styles of play. The same running-dominant playbook that brought PN-G a second-round playoff loss to an eventual state champion in 2007 took the Indians through one of the worst seasons in school history in 2008.
 23.

That's great, you got your college degree in 3 years!  Wow!   That says a lot about you... It's questionable how PNG BandKid jumps on this board and Smitty disappears..hmmm... Use your laptop and desktop?   Definition of POSEUR : a person who pretends to be what he or she is not : an affected or insincere person. No one believes that you are a NEDERLAND supporter (of course, this is for smitty).  I can clearly identify people with a degree in BS.
Ok, bud, it was a joke. I'm not smitty. Granted, the joke got a little out of hand, but it was just a joke. And for the record, I don't have a college degree. I'm still in high school. My only point with the talk about the PN-G AP/LEAP programs was to counter your joke about the standard for higher education in Nederland. PN-G has a series of AP and LEAP classes that are taught by experienced teachers, many of whom have either served as college professors (one at LSU) or teach classes at Lamar now, thus allowing their classes to double as college classes thanks to co-enrollment with Lamar or the taking of the AP test, which in turn allows PN-G students who take them to reduce the amount of time needed to earn their college diploma. Nederland has several AP and LEAP courses as well, as do many other schools in the area.
Who gives a crap....This is a football thread.
It's a competitive rivalry.
 24.
I was not talking about the 20-4A coaches I was talking about the posters on this board who are consistently picking Livingston to finish last or next to last.
I'm one of those posters and I'll be glad to tell you why I think Livingston will be near the bottom. From what I've heard (and I admit that this is just what I've heard and that I would like to know more), Livingston is almost totally ground-based. I think that a team has to have some depth and mix up the play-calling to be competitive in this district. I think that a completely ground-based offense was Livingston's "Achilles' Heel" last year and will be again this year. It also sounds like their defense could use a little work. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if Livingston pulled off a few upsets. Last year's win over Central proved that Livingston has the will-power, it's just a matter of what the Lions do with it. However, this is just the opinion of a band member, so take it for what it's worth.... ;D
 25. Underestimated, huh? You realize that the entire PN-G coaching staff was at the Huntsville-Livingston game, right? Sounds like you're being taken seriously to me.
