1.
What offense does Png run? Didn't Livingston running game put up big numbers against every team in the District?
No. PN-G won the Livingston game, 30-7.
 2. Is he staying on staff as a teacher and just leaving the coaching position or is he leaving PN-G altogether? This is a tough loss. Coach Stone has produced some excellent baseball teams and made some deep playoff runs. There's a reason football isn't the only thing mentioned when talking about PN-G's top quality athletic programs.
 3.
;) ;D surprised I havnt seen png vs brenham on here...
Only because there probably will be a rematch... next year.

 5. Greatest Moment: About a minute is left on the clock as Central scores a touchdown to clinch the lead, 22-20. Central lines up for the PAT, the kick is off and what happens? The ball is blocked. As it comes back down, it bounces off of one player's helmet and lands in the hands of none other than Dre Dunbar, PN-G's #8, a.k.a. the "miracle worker" and perhaps the only Indian on the field capable of matching Central's speed. He runs down the field to make a two-point conversion and tie up the game as the people in purple go absolutely berserk and the band strikes up Cherokee with 43 seconds left on the clock. The play caused so much excitement that a PN-G fan literally had a heart attack in the stands and had to be carted to the hospital via ambulance (he quickly recovered and was back in the stands two weeks later; PN-G fans don't miss many games). Second Greatest Moment: In double overtime, PN-G's offense lines up for a field goal delivered by kicker Zach Rhame, who had scored with only a few of his kicks since he took over as kicker after Dylan Browning tore his ACL. Many weren't confident that he could make it, but he did, winning the game 25-22. Once again, the PN-G crowd goes crazy as the band blasts Cherokee in excitement, playing the fight song several times in rapid succession. That victory made PN-G's overall record 10-0 for the first time since 1977. Third Greatest Moment: After the game, the football team gathered on the field to receive the trophy, claim the title of "Undisputed, Undefeated 2009 District 20-AAAA Champions" while the crowd cheered and the Indian percussion beat its drums and chanted "un-de-feat-ed." All in all, the 2009 PN-G - Central game was one of the best in Indian football history and was certainly the greatest football game I've ever attended.
Brandon Faircloth in 2009: 11-1 (2 rounds deep; loss to Brenham, 27-21) ;D
:D Little off wasn't he.
We were all off. Let's be serious. Who would've thought that the Indians would go undefeated through the regular season for the first time in 32 years? I didn't, and hardly anyone else did, either (heck, I don't think anyone did at halftime during the Central game). This was a miracle season stocked with miracle games (Central, Texas City, the first Barbers Hill game - just to name a few), and as good as this year was, I think next year will be even better. Here's to another great season of Indian football.
 8. This is just an "outsider looking in" perspective, so take it for what it's worth. I was at Nederland High School about two months ago and was there again a month ago tomorrow, and to be honest, I'm shocked. That high school is in terrible shape, and nearly everyone there from PN-G agreed with me. There are wires hanging down from the ceiling in places, the walls in some of the classrooms look like they're barely standing up and would fall down if you moved a couple desks around, there was insulation hanging out of the ceiling in one room, some of the electrical outlets stick out of the walls and the wiring is exposed, the cafeteria's ceiling looks like it's about to fall in, and the whole building has a generally run-down look. Don't get me wrong, PN-GHS has its own problems. But our campus is undergoing renovations. It's supposed to look like a construction site, and it didn't look as bad as Nederland's before construction began. That being said, NHS has a very nice performing arts center.
 9. The Indian Band is going to be playing for the home side.
 10. 1. Port Neches-Groves Indians (I have confidence in the Indians) 2. Beaumont Central Jaguars 3. Nederland Bulldogs 4. Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears I'll give Ozen some credit and say that they may take the fourth spot instead of LC-M, and there's always potential for the #1 and #2 spots to switch. One thing's for sure: this is going to be an interesting season. PN-G, Central, Ozen, and LC-M will all continue to improve, and all of the teams will be hungry for a playoff spot (especially after the close race we saw last season).
 11.
LCM will be in the hunt just like everyone else in 20-4A. PNG and Central was the only two teams that was in for sure at the start of week 10, everyone else was competing for the 3rd and 4th spot. And more than likely that is how it will be next year, but in 20-4A anything could happen.
As last year proved....

But it is pretty. Here is what I predict, Beaumont will have one mega school in the future. Sound familar. Get ready tax payers it is coming. Maybe a while but it is coming. It will come to that someday so BISD can afford to pay the salary of Dr Thomas. By then he will need a condo in Florida and another car allowance for his great grandchild.  ;D ;D
Aw man.. I was hopping that we can rival Orangfield's fan base...  But I guess that will never happen according to your 'Jackie Stallone' predictions...
Your right it will never happen. I have seen the support during the lean years for the beaumont schools. Beaumont will never compete with PNG, Nederland or Orangefield when it come to fan support. NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!
And you are proud of that?   Some folks realize that high school sports is not everything.
Which is why PN-G also excels in academics and the performing arts. ;)
 13. The first full year under Crouch, several returning starters, and a good bit of support. That's a winning equation. LC-M will be a solid contender for a playoff birth, which shows serious improvement as compared to years past. I see the fourth playoff spot going to one of two teams: LC-M or Ozen.
From that evidence, you were able to draw that conclusion?
There's more evidence than that. In UIL Academics, PN-G and West Brook have gone head-to-head a couple of times. Normally, PN-G not only defeats West Brook, but everyone else at the meet as well (we've only attended one local invitational meet where we didn't take the sweepstakes award this year). PN-GHS was also a "Recognized" school this year. WB was "Academically Acceptable." No offense West Brook fans. Just stating the facts.
Brains AND a Football team............who would of thunk it  ;D
Our WALMART is bigger and better.
Yeah? Well we have more fans... :P ;D In all seriousness, West Brook is definitely one of the better schools in Southeast Texas. The UIL meet where PN-G didn't take sweepstakes (the one I talked about in an earlier post) was (ironically enough) the 2009 West Brook Math & Science Meet. There were two math/science magnet schools out of Houston there that dominated the meet. PN-G and West Brook were the only local schools participating that had multiple students place. The fact that these two schools were even able to compete in math and science with the two specialized schools from Houston speaks volumes to their ability to teach and prepare students.
I think Westbrook was also "recognized" for 2009, for whatever that is worth.   Considering the socio-economic makeup out here, that's probably not too bad, and a definite improvement over some past years.
Not quite. Central was the only high school in BISD to receive "Recognized" status; West Brook and Ozen were both "Academically Acceptable." [Hidden Content] Region 05 is the Beaumont region. BISD is the second district on the Region 05 page. West Brook fell just a tad bit short in mathematics.

The support or spirit was down the last years in the Burnet era who IMO is the face of the PNG Athletic Program.
The answer to your question is simple: for the first time in a quite a while, everyone in the PN-G community feels like they have something to be proud of, and I'm not just talking about football. I started a thread on the PN-G site a little while ago that outlined the accomplishments of Port Neches-Groves High School and its various amenities over the course of the 2009-2010 school year. This list of accolades was long at the time, and now it's even longer. Our band competed at the Area F Marching Competition, our football team went undefeated through the first round of the playoffs, our volleyball team went to the playoffs, our basketball team had its first winning season in several years, our baseball team is tied for the second place slot in our league, both of our soccer teams took the district titles and went to the third round of the playoffs, our high school is a recognized school in a recognized district, our UIL Academics team recently took its 10th consecutive district sweepstakes award (the equivalent of a district title) - and this is just what I could think of and type in the space of a few minutes (trust me, there's more). These are great times for PN-G. We're performing well on every front. The Indian Nation realizes that and is getting excited. The Indians are on the warpath, and as good as this year is, I can't shake the feeling that next year is going to be even better.
Nice article. To add to your list, the softball team is tied for 1st in district.
Just another example of PN-G's 2009-2010 success. Nearly every program PN-G has either is performing or has performed impressively this year.
It was determined by a poster on the PN-G site. He started by looking at all of the teams that were undefeated at the end of the regular season, and then looked at their JV teams. If I remember correctly, the only school that came close was Waxahachie, with a JV team whose record was 9-1. I don't have a link at the moment, but I've messaged the site owner to see where the thread is and will post a link later.
How did he get all the JV records? BTW, he must of not looked very hard, because he missed a team right here in Southeast Texas. ;) I also know that Gilmer's JV went undefeated too.
