1.
Not too bad for a guy who thought about being a lawyer.
Best quote in the whole dang article. In all seriousness, Coach Faircloth deserves it. Not only did he revitalize a program, he built a team and a coaching staff with players and coaches that knew how to play on each other's talents and work together for the better of the whole. I don't think I'm out of line when I say that PN-G is now the proud employer of one of the finest coaching staffs in the state. As electrifying as this year was for the Indian Nation, I can't shake the feeling that next year is going to be even better. GO INDIANS!!!!!
 2. Good luck, Cubs. I look forward to seeing you again next season.
 3. Isn't this game a rivalry game?
 4. It's snowing in Groves and Port Neches. It doesn't seem to be sticking, but the later it gets, the colder it gets (meaning a better chance of sticking), and this is supposed to continue well into the evening.
 5.
You sheep are so funny, following this BS site. Listening to idiot moderators and admins spew their garbage all over the web. Moderators and admin acting like they are the beat all end all of sports knowledge, and then put you down or delete post or even worse ban you, and yet you people take it. If you people would stop visiting this lame @$$ site, they might change the way they do things. As long as they have a couple of the admin that they have now things will not change. Admins and moderators acting like they are some type of journalist because the owner prints these morons some fake press pass so they can act like they are king SH!T by sitting in the pressbox. I am through ranting now. You have my permission to ban me now ;)
Some people just have to blame others.... :D
 6.
Great job PNG. Does the Indians have many returning or was this a senior laden team?
17 starters will return. The other starting positions will likely be filled with candidates from our undefeated JV team.
 7. Have a happy, safe Thanksgiving everyone. I'll probably be watching the UT-A&M game.
 8. These guys are heroes. Dayton should be proud to have produced them.
Sorry to disappoint you, but the next few years looks REALLY good for the Indians!  A lot of our key players were actually juniors, and we have a 10-0 JV team that was loaded with talent!  I look for next year to be a repeat of this year, maybe even better!
i would have to dissagree. most of the play makers were seniors and losing 40 seniors is a big big lose.  10 and 0 jv is good but jv and varsity are a totally different thing. the year before bc went 0 and 10 the jv i believe only lost 1 or 2 games. one was too a 4a team i believe so you cannot use a jv to compare your next season. best of luck though
By the same token, we lost 41 seniors between last year and this year. Considering this, next year should be comparable to this year. I won't say we'll go undefeated (Boy, wouldn't that be awesome, though? ;D), but I expect a better playoff run. I imagine that the coaches are going to beef up the preseason schedule, so an early loss or two wouldn't surprise me.
 11.
I agree, it was a good game!  I think our players went into this game with a lot of bottled up emotion after the death of  a classmate last week, and just let it out at the end of the game.  A lot of them were friends with the boy and some were on the soccer team with him.  Not making excuses for them, just saying it had been a very emotional couple of days heading into that game.
That put a damper on everything. Several of the football players were at the funeral this afternoon.
 12. Go Jags. This is going to be a tough one.
 13. Great job, Jags. You've made Southeast Texas proud. Good luck next week.
 14. If it hadn't of been for that last interception, I think we would have won. That's just me. Brenham did an excellent job. Congratulation, Cubs. You earned it. Good luck in the future.

I was on the 50 yd line and looking both directions it looked full. I was sitting with a guy who played for Sterling years ago and he and I both thought it looked full. And I was drinking soda pop! ;D
I sat on the south end of the visitors side- had plenty of room to stretch out and choose whatever row I wanted. PNG had more fans in attendance but they also had a much larger band that took up nearly an entire section of the home side from top to bottom- much larger than the BH band/ dancers, etc who were kind of scattered throughout the visitor's side. I would say PNG had around 1,500 more fans there than BH had when you account for the space PNG's band/ dancers took in the stands!
I'm in that band and I can promise you that we didn't take up an entire section. We did take up a section from the middle walkway to the top (and were fairly crowded), but we didn't have a whole section to ourselves. There's only 160 of us. The Indianettes took up about half of the section below the middle walkway, and there's about 70 or 75 of them. Stallworth Stadium has a capacity of 16,500 according to Texas Bob's site. That's 8,250 on each side. Take out the band and Indianettes, and you have more than 8,000 seats. The home side was packed, meaning more than 8,000 fans were in attendance that supported PN-G. Keep in mind that this crowd was almost purely made of PN-G fans - there were very few fans of other teams that attended and sat on the home side. Barber's Hill had about 5,000 supporters by my estimate (that includes the Eagle band and dancers), and not all of them were actually Eagle fans. I don't mean to be rude, but the Indians had you outnumbered, and we were only 20 miles from your hometown versus 70 from ours.
 16.
Bankid PNG would not have made the playoffs in district 13-4a.
I don't know about that. If you took PN-G in its entirety, picked it up, and moved it into 13-4A, it's completely possible that PN-G would have made it into the playoffs, especially with the UIL taking the top four teams. Would we have done it without a single loss? I don't think so - we were too shaky at the beginning - but that depends on the schedule more than the district in my opinion. We were lucky enough to not meet a team with the skill level of Vidor or Central until after our team really started clicking this year, and that, to me, is what played the biggest part in making us undefeated. Would we be 13-4A district champions? Probably not, but again, that's schedule-dependent. However, I still think we would have made the playoffs.

They were rated #3 in the state the day we won the championship game, for goodness sakes! The Indians just kept on trucking one day at a time and that's what this team is going to do, also! Scalp 'em, Indians!
Squaw1, are you sure you read ShlyKBMT's post correctly? You seem to have made some of the same points he made. You may want to take another look at his post. I've pasted it below:
I have seen PN-G multiple times and this was not they're best showing but give credit to BH you're team played with a ton of heart. I'm a proud Indian but my job sways me from being just a fan. They are not the most talented team in the state but they find the ways to win. Faircloth makes great adjustments but he's not Bear Bryant either and he doesn't act like it. I respect 19-4A they play hard. I'll take the heart of a good team over skill players any day. I hope my Indian faithful takes a step back and embraces the role of underdog despite being undefeated. If you listened to Faircloth when he got here he said he wants to embrace the past but not live in it and he also said Nederland is just another district game. I respect that he is a lot like my baseball coach when I was there Jay Stone. Last weeks win doesn't win this week. Good luck to all SE Texas teams and that includes 19-4A

Doesn't matter.  You lose you go home. We were given the blessing of the Cherokee Nation because of our "Tradition of Excellence" and the "Honor, Pride, and Tradition" we held to be synonymous with the name. We're all Indians. That's the unifying factor among the people of Port Neches and Groves and those that come from these communities, and it's a source of pride. "Indians" is more than just a name.
Nice sentiments and I don't really disagree with you, but I'm not sure all of that fluff will hold up in a court of law if it comes down to it.
Maybe not, but it did at one time. Nowadays, we have the "fluff" as well as the support and consent of a federally-recognized sovereign nation.

 21.
I've yet to see Brenham but my guess is they're going to have a similar team to the one they had last year.  I've seen PNG play the last two weeks and here is why I think PNG will win.... PNG is an EXTREMELY well coached and disciplined team that makes very few mistakes.  The schemes are fresh and creative and the players are put in position to play to their strengths (example - fade route to #19 against Central CB who was at least 6 inches shorter).  As I've heard a few of the PNG posters say....PNG will wear you down and take control in the 4th quarter.  I agree with this assessment and I think the same thing will happen this Friday.  #18 makes good decisions, has good timing, and is right on the money with his throws.  Receivers run good routes and catch the ball really well.  #7 Running back is shifty, has good vision, runs hard, and is easy to lose track of behind the massive offensive line.  The offensive line pass blocks pretty well but run blocks extremely well.  The defense is extremely solid and plays fast.  The front seven is solid against the run and the secondary is opportunistic.  They mix up the schemes well in moving from zone to man coverage and get a really effective outside pass rush especially on passing downs.  I give PNG the advantage in all these areas... Brenham's only advantage based on last year is they will have 1 or 2 true gamebreakers on offense or special teams that can change the game.  PNG's only real weakness or shortcoming that I've seen is no homerun threat.   This is an outsider's observation as to why I and in my opinion you should disagree with BoboandBlair.  Yes they're going to be faster at the skill positions but you will be more skilled and you're >= as good in the trenches.  If Brenham is better than last year and is even with you in the trenches then I give you the victory because of the edge in coaching.  Brenham will be hard hard pressed to beat you!
This is a very analytical approach, and if what you say about Brenham is true (I really can't say, I haven't seen or heard much about them), then I agree with your prediction. In my opinion, your analysis of our team's performance is right on the money. I'm very impressed with what our team has accomplished this year and am pleased to see a team, not a group working behind a few star players as it has been in the past. Coach Faircloth has built a team and a playbook around that team, not a team around a playbook (which, in my opinion, was a big problem last year). My only point about BoboandBlair is that he was just making a prediction, not insulting the Indians as some others have done and as some were perceiving him to be doing.
 22. I'm not saying that I think District 20-4A is much stronger than 19-4A, but don't forget about all of the preseason defeats 19-4A schools suffered at the hands of 20-4A schools. Granted, most weren't major defeats, but they were defeats. Your district champion team was still defeated by ours and still defeated our #3 team by less than a touchdown's value. Again, I believe that 20-4A is the stronger district, but not much stronger. That being said, neither side should be getting too cocky.
 23. Guys, let's not keep picking on BoboandBlair. He likes PN-G, he just has a different opinion about our skill level. He's not sitting here insulting the PN-G football team and community like so many others have. He's just stating his opinion, much like many of us have done. On the subject of our next playoff game's location, while I don't think Brenham's coach's decision was the most classy one, he won the toss and he has the right to pick whatever site he prefers. Our job now is to make sure that the game is sold out, the stands are "standing-room-only," and that he knows that he picked the wrong school to mess with come Saturday morning.
