  1. Huffman may have something about that ;D How did Huffman do against CE King.
  2. Their was a article in the baytown sun about BH #1 pitcher. I believe it came out this morning.
  3. Don't forget, you'll always got the "Rocket" if you get in a bind! Noboby throws the high heat better!
  4. Rambleonus how many baseball games have you gone to that your kid loss and thought that was fun. I've seen kid countless times so happy when they made the play, caught the ball, made the out and won the game. Now that's when I've seen some happy kids. And all of that was achieved through hard work, I mean isn't that what we teach our kids hard work pays off.
  5. So what are a coaches responsibility's?...To put the communities best foot forward which may or may not mean best talent! The best talent in the district might be a moron, can't make passing grades or stays in trouble. A high school coach must juggle several different situations that don't exist in select. He has to deal with the hand he is dealt and sometimes kids get lost in the shuffle. A coach needs to have a zero gossip factor to build a strong unified team. This is where the parents and crowned often bring down good teams with to much gossip and back stabbing and rumors flying around which is all detrimental to the idea of TEAM. If a coach tells the team not to gossip and tell your dad while you're at it then we can all focus on the game. Just think one psycho dad can ruin a whole season.
  6. No respect for High School coaches is a two way street...in today's world there is a lot more knowledge of the sport fundamentals and a lot more of daddy's money spent on professional lessons than ever before. So where does a high school coach hibernate during the summer? Theres is no question that select or tournament baseball, basketball has evolved and developed better athletes than "most" high school programs. A lot of high school coaches are stuck in the sixties and will not accept the fact that daddy's money provides them with some of their best talent. Some kids will develop bad habits during the high school season and some stay away from high school sports altogether. Did your high school coach have it right way back then? probably not, how many coaches know how to teach pitching and will you turn your high school coach loose on your boy.....?
  7. Thompson threw a bull pen at practice yesterday and was throwing in the 80's.I heard he pitched pretty good though I've never seen him.I heard from other Varsity players that Thompson would be on Varsity. Did they have a radar gun on him and if so what did he top out at? I've seen all of the freshmen pitchers many times and Leggett is by far the best pitcher in this class. I've also talked to more than one umpire that called several of these kids games last year and during the summer and they are of the same opinion. They all agree that Leggett is the top pitcher. If anyone does any pitching with the varsity during preseason or tournaments it would be just to have the extra arms available. If it happens, it should be Leggett. If any freshmen end up on Varsity it will be a wasted year for them and a lot of bench time and I believe it would have to be based on influences other than the players ability. No they did not have a gun on him, though when they rated the arms from outfield he received a 4 when other varsity players only got a 3.
  8. There will not just be one player everone will have to step up and do there part on offense and defense. The pitching is there not what we have had the last 2 years. But there is a lot of talent So if we read this correctly..last year we had great pitchers " but lost to teams in the district" Last year we had great hitters " but couldn't hit when it mattered" sounds like the NY Yankees. And this year the pitching will be O.K. at best and the hitting should be better as well..? maybe we can play now because everyone is not standing around depending on a couple of stars to shine. I do believe this will be a much better "TEAM". The potential for lots of offensive fireworks and the defense should be solid as well! i agree like ive said this team has the same or maybe better chemistry than the 07' team and its not just the seniors together, seniors like juniors and vice versa, so hopefully some of the chemistry problems that haunted this team last year wont this year ... i look for the defense and offense to exceed already high expectations and for the pitching to step up and actually be better than what everyone thinks... if you look at the "rotation" which is Rocha, Burditt, and Peterson, we see 3 above average pitchers which in my opinion is better than having just one ace and no one else because if you rely on just one and an injury strikes your out of luck Mitchel will be in the pitching "rotation". He's been taking lessons at least twice a week and sometimes more and his velocity has already increased about 3 mph. He pitched good the three weekends we played at baseball USA, and his pitches had a lot of movement, look for that to be even better. he might be in it during tourneys but not anytime else considering usually there are only 2 gms a week... especially when district gets around, however he will be the top reliever Thompson threw a bull pen at practice yesterday and was throwing in the 80's.I heard he pitched pretty good though I've never seen him.I heard from other Varsity players that Thompson would be on Varsity.
