Everyone on here seems to blast officials for blowing calls every time their team loses, but you notice that the UIL never gets blasted for this one.... :o :o
The only reason most of these kids consider changing schools is the almighy "play at the next level" goal which is a pipe dream for probably 95% of these guys. When you let your kids do this they almost always become a a little fish in a big pond.Lt.Daigle most of the folks who come on here ,with the exception of a few old coaches, and blast the officials wouldn't know which end of the whistle to blow.
Lt.Dangle, I agree with ya about Coach Williams. He gets everything they have got to give him.I've seen the Rebels several times this year and it will depend on what type team they meet in the playoffs. If they go against a slow ball control type club they will win those type games. The fast clubs that pressure the ball will give them problems. The Rebels biggest weakness seems to me to be getting back on defense late in the games where stamina becomes an issue. They are about 6 players deep and that hurts them.
Those marathon tourneys that have popped up the last few years (HJ, EC, Port Aransas) have helped teams with the stamina issue early in the season. I don't know if you lose ground from then to now by only playing 2 games a week instead of 6 games in 3 days :-\ :-\...I guess we will see.
Sure wish you guys would leave blue alone. makes our whole town look stupid when you wake him up
I'm being serious. I haven't seen them play this year but I do know that they have a top shelf coach in Laurence Williams and if he has a shred of talent, they will play a while after Valentine's day.
Hardin has a good guard and a good team but, EC will win this one by double digits.
With both teams splitting their fans with boy's district games tonight, there may not be much support for either team.......would have like to have this game played Thursday night. -
PNG wins a close one due to it being at home. Isn't that legal, provided Gus came back inbounds completely before touching the ball again (he was the first player touching it after he came back in bounds).
Does anyone know if this ruling was correct? I thought it was, but several experts in the stands claimed that the man out of bounds can not be the first to touch the ball.
According to this (NCAA):
Rule 9 Section 4. Player Out of Bounds Art. 1. A player who steps out of bounds under his/her own volition and then becomes the first player to touch the ball after returning to the playing court has committed a violation. a. A violation has not been committed when a player, who steps out of bounds as permitted by Rule 7-5.6.b, does not receive the pass along the end line by a teammate and is the first to touch the ball after his or her return to the playing court. Art. 2. After the throw-in is completed, the thrower-in must touch the playing floor inbounds before touching the ball.
I did not see the play but as it has been described, I don't think he was going out of bounds to receive a throw in (section a) or was pushed. If he was the first player to touch the ball after reentering it should have been a violation. If he was out of bounds and reestablished position then received a pass from a team mate it was not a violation (The team mate was the first person to touch the ball) and he was inbounds to get the pass.
"Under his own volition" is the key. If he goes out of bounds to avoid a screen or a player, then it is a violation. If he moves towards a player or the ball to block a shot or in this case tip/steal the ball & his momentum carries him OB, then it is not a violation providing he re-establishes court position. Same rule for NFHS or NCAA. -

The visitors must sit in the bleachers on the opposite side, while the home fans get the seats behind the benches. You will notice the people that stand directly behind the visitor bench and say all kinds of foul mess. I assure you, you have not seen anything like it before. Keep an eye on the Leggett coach as he is as bad or worse than the fans. My suggestion is that Evadale trys to rise above it and keep cool as this is what they live for.
Doesn't Evadale travel with a police officer? Have them sit in the bench area like all other schools....just sayin'
What the heck is a police officer?? I think we have a parking guy that has a flashlight?? And there might be a voluntare fireman with a radio ;D
Like I said, police officer ;D ;D ;D
