1.
Raines will be fine. He needs to throw on the home turf more. He hasn't adjusted to the crown yet. Everything to the sideline is high. Just watch how he throws against PNG. It might be a good thing we are playing on their plastic flat field. Maybe prior to Livingston he will be able to practice on our home turf.
Sorry man, I just don’t do well with excuses. Exactly how much time did Woods have to adjust to the crown or anything else?  You can’t deny that Woods performed very well when he got his chance. As far as Ned. receivers last night, they did a heck of a job snagging anything close. IMO CR never settled down. He delivered a few safety dumps and two down field passes that receivers made great catches on. Absolutely no disrespect to CR at all. I don’t know the fella and I hear he is a great young man. This is just my observation of a couple games.
2. What a great Friday night football game. Both Teams played with a lot heart till the last second. You had to be proud of the sportsmanship and the play by play battle. Nederland’s defense adjusted well and basically shut down Vidor after the first quarter. Heck of a game Nederland D. One aspect of Nederland’s game that I don’t get is the QB position. Nothing personal against CR, he just couldn’t complete a decent pass. Nederland was forced to stick to the running game. Two weeks ago he played a full half and started the second against a very tough BH defense and couldn’t lead his team to the end zone. Woods came in looking a little nervous but drilling his targets leading to a score. You can watch CR’s head, he finds one receiver and if he isn’t open play over. Woods appears to see the whole field and is able recognize his open targets quickly. Why wouldn’t Neuman give Woods an opportunity. The only opportunity he has had so far IMO he has out performed CR.
3. I for sure don’t have all the answers.   One softball ball club in SETX could work. We just have to want it to work. Each org would have to swallow their pride and take pride in what we could build. There could be different levels of play at each age group requiring a different commitment with different goals. I understand that not every girl wants to live, eat and breathe softball, I don’t and I coach. We could have an org for different types of players with different goals all under one hat. They would represent SETX well on every level, Gold, A, B instead of just representing.  This area has a load of talent that is spread out. By combining the knowledge and contacts that so many of you coaches have could really benefit our local girls. I’m not trying to bash any new team starting out. I’m just wondering what are we accomplishing as a softball community? How many organizations would even be willing to sit down and see if we could make it work?  Just because it has failed once doesn’t mean new players couldn’t succeed on another try. Just so I’m clear, I am not looking to coach but I am sure there are some good ones out there. I’ll help in any way I can.
4. I've got to agree with you here. 5) why arent we doing more to consolidate the talent in the GT area...rather than continue to dilute it with "friends", "daddy's" "high school teams" etc? So with that said, who's the first to toss in their hat? GTS, Crush, Intensity, YG etc..... I've seen this subject beat around here many times and no one wants to give. Would the Shockers be the first? If so Intensity will be the second! This fall would be a great time to consolidate. Now is the time to make it happen. When is the last time SETX has had a team that could seriously compete on the GOLD level? Was it Beaumont Blast? I don't think we ,SETX, will ever compete as long as softball stays the same, ""friends", "daddy's" "high school teams" etc "
5. She was struggling a little earlier in the season and got pretty down on herself. She has spent the last few weeks working every day and it’s paid off. There’s nothing like the smile on a young lady’s face when she has worked hard and it all comes together. Overall Intensity had a great weekend playing in the Ronald McDonald Showcase. We got lots of looks and all of our Sr’s have full or near full offers.
6. Congrats to Amber Sorensen on her 1st HR against the Oklahoma Diamond Girls. Intensity Gold wins 10-7.
7. Intensity Scores: Intensity 8 – 4 Beaumont Blast Intensity 8 – 0 Orange Crush (Collins) Intensity 5 – 0 Vipers Intensity 0 – 9 Orange Crush (Harrell) Intensity 5 – 0 S. Spice OC Harrell passed us the totally not showing up stick at 8am this morning. Besides the one game with OCG we had a pretty good weekend.
8. Travel ball coaches that use players to build an organization only to ditch them for bigger better pick up players when the team goes to compete in the national tournament. And to all you travel ball coaches out there, thanks for your time. Most of you are good guys with good hearts and good intentions.
9. Where are the answers to all of these questions everyone has asked? No one from the new team is stepping up to answer. The younger kids seem to be getting used for a few old team mates, (Ex Nederland Girls already in college), to play ball for the summer. Part of this is a guarantee for the seniors to come back and play next summer. The younger players feel pressure to play on the new team because they are loyal to each other; more loyal to each other than to their summer teams and coaches. The young ladies that are starting this team are an amazing group of young ladies. I have truly enjoyed watching them play this season. I personally like each one of them and think they have something to contribute to younger players. The level of intensity that the entire Nederland team played at, IMO, was unmatched throughout the district. These ladies were on fire. They couldn’t get enough. I know it was the time of their life. I know they don’t want it to end. It’s hard to leave this level of play and go back to their summer teams. So I can understand why they want to go through with the formation of this team. I don’t think the girls have total selfish intent, but I also don’t think the idea was completely thought out. It was more of, Hey we love playing together and we can’t get this level of intensity from our summer teams so lets continue by forming this new team. Again many of you have questions that are unanswered? These are questions that were thought of or brought up after the fact. I don’t think anyone wants to honestly answer those questions because it would reveal to the younger players that this isn’t at all about building a stronger Nederland HS Softball team. That just sounds good and it hooks you in. I don’t think the founders even thought about how the younger girls will be exposed and developed. They just want to play at the same level they have been for the past few weeks. So I understand. I don’t agree with the way this all went down but I do understand. This idea could be beneficial to the HS program and still expose players for college if it had been planned and thought out, but I’m afraid before long the wheels will fall off the wagon and their will be distention among the teammates. I hope not. Good Luck!
