Pro teams have it built into contracts now that they will pay for college
-
did he play runningback? I thought the lacour kid was yalls tb last year?
-
did Jakari Dalsrouer or however you spell it play on the varsity last year? I keep hearing about him.
-
Im hearing james richardson will play some FB and maybe brandon potter. I really dont think Sparks will play any FB. All spring he just worked at TE and DE and same in 7 on 7
-
raideroldtimer are you an adult? because your post was directed at highschool kids. who cares what they say you need to grow up. Plus your not playing in any of the games so your "trash talking" is just flat out stupid.
-
where are they playing
-
Doesnt a TE need to be able to catch or are you saying they wont throw to him?
pretty much. Ty Choate will be the starting TE Sean will only play there when needed.
Plus the guy has been a TE for the last 3 years. So he has done pass catching drills and everything else a TE does during practice.
-
Sean Sparks will most likely not play any fullback. He will start at DE and play some TE. it wont matter if he can catch
-
no its not the best team Lumberton has had. The last 2 teams were better teams
You also have the 95 team that went 8-2 and missed the playoffs by 1 point losing to LCM. I wanna say LCM and WOS both made deep playoff runs that year.
-
The first year was not a bomb. the team before that year was 0-7 and that grounp of seniors had never one a game at the highschool level.
-
which one is the 16U?
-
Gladiators are suppose to be going to Memphis arent they?
-
Yeah I really like Jason and think he does a heck of a job. The one year he coached at Lumbeton was the best team we had in along time. If it wouldnt had been for a one game playoff that is. Now hes coaching my cousins 16U team TPX Jaxx and the guy does a heck of a job with him.
-
Jason Smith if u dont mind driving to dayton
-
It won't be Lumberton
Ned, i just hope you are a parent and not an offensive player, if by chance you are a player, when you guys come to Lumberton...........let's just say, ice it down and the swelling will eventually go away, because the hitting is gonna be hard hard hard.
are you a parent? because if you are why are you talking trash to highschool kids?
-
Why dont you think it will be Lumberton? I think they will be one of the best if not the best defense in the district.
DL you retun 2 starters and one guy who rotated in alot Sparks and Archer as starters and Richardson as the guy who played alot.
LB if Beard plays like he should then there wont be any problems there. He played last season at 205-200. right now he is up to 227 and still looks lean and is running as fast as he was last year. 3 possible guys will fill in the other 2 spots who look to be as good if not better than last year.
DB Sparks and Kieth are really good players and are both returning.
Central and Vidor should be in the top also.

James is gonna play the 3tech and will be like Jacob Hanna as a Jr when he played there but I think he will be alittle better bc he doesnt understand the word stop. Remeber last year when HF and BH tried to throw screens when he was in. It ended badly for the opposing QB.
He will also get some PT at FB but I dont know how much. Jesse is the best WR the last 2 years and Ryan has looked really good during 7 on 7s so I think he will have a good season. OL is the big concern
-
well alot of people get invited to those but he does have a chance to keep playing if he has a good year
-
he did 325 the last max day before school was out
-
Defense really only lost 2 because the 2nd half of the season Sparks played most of the time at DE not Hanna and 2 sophmores played inside. James Richardson play alot and was very good but broke his wrist midway through but made it back for the nederland game and was a very good player and has really put on alot of weight during the offseason. Mason Archer started the whole season as the 1tech as a sophmore. Really only replacing Duvall. At LB Beards play will be HUGE but he looks great right now and they had a move in from Crosby who could take one spot and a few guys working at the other spot that and should be as good as last year.
You are right though the OL development will be a big deal. Passing game I think will be good. Ryan has a great football head on his shoulders and has really worked to make himself a better passer. So we can only hope for the best.
-
yes your right, I think has helped with the interest in the program at an early age too.

Sean Sparks will play DE and some TE for Lumberton next year. Last season he played alot of DL, Alot of DE and some DT. Hes somewhat a late bloomer but had a very good season last year but just got alittle over shadowed by Hanna, Murrill, Beard. He is looking to have a breakout season and is on of the better athletes on the field. hes about 6'2" 235 and has ran as fast as 4.7
As for the passing game I think it will be pretty good depending on how the OL develops. you have both WRs back in Sparks and Kieth. and some very good Jrs in Cowart and McDonald. Choate should have a good season at TE and Asher will do a good job out of the backfield. They will miss that huge OL and the Dominate back that Jacob Hanna was thats for sure but I think they should do well
P.S. the youth football has been good but dont get it twisted and think that its the reason Lumberton started winning. It takes alot of work to win at the highschool level not just youth football program

Next season Lumberton returns alot of players and could make a run for a playoff spot and maybe more depending on Anthony Beard, and their hitting.
Corbin Bell P/IF Jr last season Stats 7-3 ERA arond 2.2 1st team all-district Pitcher last season as a sophmore. Playing his Summer baseball with the TPX Jaxx and Beaumont Gladiators and has looked strong all summer. Has got his velocity up to 84 last weekend at a wood bat tounry in Dallas.
Anthony Beard P/OF Sr as a sophmore was the number 1 for Lumberton and was clocked as high as 88 toward the end of the year. missed last season because of his knee injury so if he comes out and how quickly he picks things back up will be the key.
Tyler Erickson P/IF Sr Hard throwing lefthander that has a ton of potential and was looking really strong until he hurt his Elbow against BC. Also has alot of pop at the plate. Plays his summer ball with the
Sun Devils and has been making good progress this summer
Ryan Hughes OF Jr Really good hitter that was up and down last season. If he can hit like hes capable then he will be a big contributer in the middle of the line up.
Wayne Stanley SS Jr Has been the starting SS since his freshman year. Last year was great at SS but struggled at the plate. Has been playing with the Gladiators this summer and hitting really well. will be a big key for Lumberton at the top of the lineup.
Lance Pace OF Soph started most of the season in centerfield last season and really hit the ball well when he was on varsity. I think he will be primed for a big season.
Dylan Bronson P/IF Soph played alittle bit on Varsity last season and struggled alittle. He did get a save against HJ. could find a spot in the infield next season.

Central didnt win the district last year Lumberton and Livingston shared the district title. Central also only returns 3 players and lost their head coach.
We won a district title. We make the playoffs often. We make a 4 round run in the playoffs and we still don't get respect. You have to look at who these teams are trying to earn respect from. Fact is that most of the local media is MC fans and will show respect to them most of the time.ive been reading this a few mins now and every post has ozen ranked really low....I was just wanting to know why everyone is counting this team out ....from seeing them in their spring game they seem to be on course to have a pretty good year...of course they lost a few big named players but they seem to have a solid group of kids....and i hear nelson is doing great in keeping them disciplined and motivated
I think the reason most are counting them out is the same some are discounting Vidor. I don't think it is right but a lot predict the future on the results of your past. I guess for some folks , respect must be earned.Lumberton went through it a couple years ago, they won week after week while evryone doubted them every week. The worst case I have seen for this was Nederland during the mid 90's. They couldn't get the respect they deserved. It took a couple years of winning before our local media gave them the respect that they had more than earned. You will just have to prove them wrong week after week to be taken seriously by some.
People fail to realize that Ozen up until 2005 was an elite team. Which tell me that the fans that don't respect Ozen at all are obviously younger fans or didn't follow HS football untill recently.
