Central's soccer program is paying dividends. -
Why wouldnt you want Long? that guy gets it on Offense and changes the offense to fit his players. plus hes cool as a cucumber.
-
Oh I'm not, and yall have a good staff. Last year yall were tri-district champs, stomped Gelena Park then lost to the state champs whos running back ran all-over USC. Yall lost 10 starters on D. On offense you lost a stud in Hemmings and yalls best 3 WR and a D1AA TE.
-
I'm guessing related to the other Falgout? Adversity isnt always a bad thing.
-
Man thats alot of injuries to key people in one game. I'm guessing yall dont have a back up like Falgout this year?
-

* Lumberton vs. Ozen Updates/RAIDERS WIN!!!
WTB replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Hate to agree with buc but thats something that needs to be proven on the field. Not something you say on a msg board because your team has a better record -
I get what hes saying and I'm with him in a way. I dont think there is a complete team in the District right now. And I think everyone has some work to do if they wanna make any kind of playoff run. I would say we have about 4 good teams but no great teams. And dme111 is alittle over critical but getting to the third round of the playoffs is a pretty big deal for most schools. (Dayton fans correct me if I'm wrong) but Daytons first time to get past the 3rd round was last year. And they have had some really good teams.

What School in Region III 4A can beat Longview?
WTB replied to Edgar13's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
There was a qoute in the Longview paper saying "thank the lord we wont have to play Lumberton in the playoffs" lol But in reality I would say Lake Travis, Highland Park and a few other schools have a shot at beating them but I read up on them and they have some really talented juniors that are expected to be big D1 guys and plus they have been in 5A the past few years makes them a really tough out. -
OK, you predict this 20-4A race if you're so smart

I dont think you would ever have to use the point system for playoff seeds. It would still go by enrollment, so that would divide the teams into 2 groups of 2 and then the head to head match up would decide who gets the 1 seed if the 2 teams have the same record. I could be wrong though and I might have just said the same thing you did. -

once they get in the playoffs all that matters is if they are the big school then its whoever has the better record goes as the 1 seed and then other goes as the 2 seed. if they have the same record then the tie breaker is head to head match up. Reason why Lumberton went as a higher seed than Dayton last year. -
Hughes accuatly runs the option better than Duvall. The Lumberton coachs work 7 days a week during football season. They film every practice and after practice is over they watch the practice. There is 5 guys on the offensive side of the ball so if those 5 guys have not decided to put a guy in a certain place then there is a reason and its ussually a very good reason. Last year they did put Aaron Creadur in to run acouple different plays because he read the play as good as anyone. No one on the team right now could come close to running the play like he did. second he was already in the game so you could just swap him and Dejohn and teams didnt have time to personel against it. I trust the coaches I think you should too. And please explain to me how they did a bad job against Vidor??? They ran an offensive set they havent ever ran and it was great against Vidor. to me it looked like the kids came out flat and didnt play well in the second half. I even talked to a few players and they say the samething. The defense played great in the first half too. Seriously some of you drive me crazy. Is it your fault everytime your kid makes a mistake in school?

Lumberton (Tex.) High School had gone 42 years without making the playoffs until a year ago. In fact, the Raiders had never been to the postseason in the entire history of the school's existence. They made a bang with their first appearance, though, making it three rounds deep and knocking off defending state champion La Marque along the way. Middle linebacker Anthony Beard helped Lumberton end a 42-year playoff drought Perhaps the main reason for the success of the 2007 squad was the defense. Inside linebacker Anthony Beard was only a sophomore, but made his presence felt, finishing with 109 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, two sacks and two fumble recoveries en route to earning first-team all-district honors. Despite the return of Beard and several other key players, Lumberton was not picked by many people to be a contender in 2008. They have defied expectations again and are off to a 4-1 start to the season. "Everybody underestimated us again," said the 6-foot-2, 220-pound junior. "We're using it like a chip on our shoulder. We're going to make the playoffs again this year. That's all we're thinking right now. Hopefully then we can make an even longer run than last year. Right now, I have 50-something tackles through our first five games." With the newfound team success on the field has come attention from colleges as they make their way to the Golden Triangle school to watch the defender in action. "I'm getting a bunch of letters from a lot of schools," said Beard. "I've heard from Boston College and Penn State lately. I like the way Penn State plays. I've also been hearing from Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Arizona, Illinois, Virginia and some other schools. The local schools, too, like Texas, A&M and LSU." Beard recently took in his first college game when he made the trip to College Station to watch Texas A&M take on Miami. He says he came away impressed with Aggieland. "I went down to A&M to watch them play against Miami," he said. "I liked the fans and it was a really loud stadium. The atmosphere was really good for a big game. I could see myself there. I really have to check out the school a little bit more than I got to then. That's the only college game I've been to. I was going to go to a game at Tulane, but I didn't get a chance to do that." However, while the Aggies made an impression that day, so did their opponent. Beard says that it put the Hurricanes on his radar as well. "I liked Miami a lot," he said. "I like how they play and everything. They really impressed me. I know that they haven't been having the seasons lately that they're used to, but their defense just flies to the ball." With over a year until Beard can sign his National-Letter-of-Intent, he says he is in no hurry to name a list of favorites. He plans to take in camps at a few schools next summer as well. "I haven't really talked to that many coaches or anything yet," he said. "Major Applewhite from Texas gave me his card, but that's about it. I really have no idea what I want to do yet. I'll probably go to the camps from the schools near here like Texas, A&M, LSU, OSU and those."

Any info on the 7th grade? -
if Florida wins I blame everyone on this board who didnt vote. I saw one guy make a post saying their 6A state champ had beatin Southlake Carrol. SLC lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs last year.
