Ranking District 19-4A / 20-4A Stadiums
oldman replied to oldman's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I have to say that Lumberton now has the 2nd best stadium in 20-4A. Since the upgrades both the home and visitor side are nice and seat a respectable amount. The restrooms and concessions are excellent. Until Nederland does something with their facilities and PNG can make more room on the visitor side to walk, I think Lumberton edges them out!
Lumberton is not even in the same zip code. -

I think we will both agree that Livingston's stadium is as bad as it gets for a 4A program. -
PNG has a nice home side and the field is nice but if you have to sit on the visiting side it is very, very small and the parking is horrible! Before it is even said, yes, I know Vidor's parking isn't all the great too. ;)
Just was refering to the stadium and field. Now parking and other things are a different issue. -

Lufkin Hudson has never had football on any level. At one time it was brought before the board to start it in middle school , but it was nixed by the powers up top. -

It's not X's and O's , It's Larry and Joe's. Without the Larry and Joe's it will be hard to win....period!!!!. Warren lacks Larry's and Joe's. -
Ok, I have a situation that I saw today. Not sure if any runners were on base ( doesn't really matter ) . Batter pops up on the 1st base line. First baseman is running up the line to get under the ball. Batter runner runs over the 1st Baseman before the catch is made. The runner IMO didn't run over the fielder intentionally, but he did not avoid the fielder. Umpire ( plate ) called the ball foul, incidental contact and put the batter back in the box. Here is what I think should have happened. At the minimum the batter is out for interfering with the fielders attempt to catch the ball. Worst case the batter is out and ejected for malicious contact. Agree or disagree?
Maybe you should do some checking! Three of the assistants on staff have HC/AD experience, and I'm not talking about a two/three year stint at some school going 1-9 & 0-10. Guys with quality resumes that would keep the team from making a big transition to another scheme, which they desperately don't need. The school board needs to give one of these guys a shot and HIRE WITHIN!! Don't beat around the bush and give them the run around and an iterview as a curtious formallity to say "yeah, well he is on the staff, so we will give him an interview"! Just do what's right for the kids and the program...
Wayne Mahaffey.......enough said. Check his resume. Won a state championship at Bartlett( i think ) , Won numerous district championships at Rusk, and was very successful at Kaufman. Cheating thr kids if you don't hire someone that knows the kids.... -
In my opinion, Nation's events are better than USSSA . I have worked both. The Premier division for Nations has some salty teams.
-
All nations games are 1:40 time limit ( finish what you start ) in pool play. In pool play you don't have to have a winner. Once bracket play begins then time limit is still 1:40 , but you must have a winner. Only the championship games are no time limit , unless agreed upon by both teams to set a time limit. Speaking from experience, using Nations as an example, most of the problems with coaches come from the lower level teams. Elite or Premier level coaches for the most part are up to date on the rules and workings of a tourney. I work primarily at Nations Tourneys in Humble and some in Spring. I know for a fact that the majority of the umpires used there are High school level for Houston TASO. If the umpires used in the tourney this weekend were from Houston I would be willing to bet they are not TASO umpires.

VIDOR vs. CROSBY BROADCAST/VIDOR WINS 42-20!
oldman replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think it would have been about a 30 yard field goal because the ball was on about the 20 yard line, and where they would have had to put the ball down, it would have been about a 35 yard field goal. Maybe they did not want to take a chance at a blocked field goal and a run back for a TD. That's just my guess.
If ball on 20 then it would have been a 37 yard attempt. -
Question for the Basketball Gurus!
oldman replied to mammagotjuice's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I understand that, but is it good for the kids to be ranked that early in their development. This is my opinion, so no need to bash me for this, if you pay to play the coaches or person running the program is going to tell you what you want to hear. Their sole purpose is to make money and for them to stay in business they need consistency in those who pay for their services. Again my opinion, right or wrong! -

What recruiting service? Didn't know they have recruiting services for middle school kids. -
Defense....this is what will determine this game. Not sure what Nederland did last week...but Dobbins will dominate this game. Crosby's front will not hold up to the size of Da'Bears........ Looking at the stats from your games....all the teams in your district ran the ball on you guys with much success.
-
Haven't been on in a while , but didn't take me long to find another post regarding BH. And the subject is still the same......openly critizing your coach. Ruben you are obviously an upset parent.....couldn't be any more obvious. When the BH coach was at Orangefield I never recalled him being run and gun type of coach. Funny that you say he is running and gunning this season.' IMHO............you should eat a healthy helping of REALITY.....and come to your senses.....

Just get tired of hearing how BH cheats..blah , officials do this blah...blah ....blah. You guys are ridiculous!!!! I think round robin would be PERFECT. Ask HJ if they would come? Wait I already know the answer..... :'(......NO!!!
Implying that a team won't come back the way you have implied is calling a team out. Sorry buddy. Think what you want.
Maybe he has some knowledge of what HJ's answer would be. That BUDDY....isn't calling a team out.....read my above post on my view of opinions.
