1. Is it just me, or is 3A getting HUGE? Seems like 3a has twice as many teams as any other classification. I'm sure I'm wrong, but sure seems that way. Another thought is looking at all these 3A schools that were 4A power houses as little as a couple years ago. Seems like we have a very interesting trend here.......the 5a schools are getting so huge they are the size of some colleges. 4A seems limited now and 3a is huge. Does anyone think the UIL needs to re-classify the whole state? Make a 6A and get rid of the subdivisions in the other classifications?  You would have 6 through 1A.  Maybe the 4a schools would be 5a, the 3a schools be 4a, etc.

Not saying they deserve to be there, just stating and observation. IMO, WOS has always been in the top 10 since the early 80's.  Correct me if I'm wrong but i can't remember that since I was was old enough to remember which was 1985 to now.
They were ranked top 10 every year when they were 4A? That would suprise me when there were years they weren't even picked to finish 1st or 2nd in district.
Yes, even in 4a. Kinda strange. There were a few years I belive we werent in the preseason top ten but made it in in the first week or two of the season and vice versa. I think 96 was the only year we weren't ranked. We went 3 deep that year barely making it out of our district. 97 we were number 2 I believe and 98 number 1 and two flip floping with LaMarque.
 3. Well, not sure about that but heard we will be pretty good.

I think he has earned his spot on that list Montana Q on the other hand doesn't even have a profile on any of the major scouting sites and he doesn't have any scholarship offers that I know of.
Yall got a good point.... The truth is, "My two cents", the reason Quirante is not on these list is he does not try to be on them.... He does not set up a profile or still to my knowledge, has not sent out his highlights to people yet...haha thats pretty relevant... He does not entertain scouts or coaches like some of these others do.... It is not people underestimating or demeaning his abilities. He just does not solicit his talent like others do... Once he decides to do so he will get recognized...nothing to worry about, im sure he is not the only elite one left off the list... Some people dont need to be on the list to know that they are still elite haha
Well......MQ needs to go ahead and start to market himself. I saw him play one game and it was their last playoff game. The kid has tallent and could be a great addition to any college team. You can't teach heart. Of what I saw, the kid has it. People need to understand that sending tapes and highlites can make all the difference. Those scouts see thousands of kids and sometimes only get a chance to look at them on a tape for 2 minutes. You see, they might be scouting 300 different players at a time. A good tape with great highlites can mean the difference in getting a scholarship. And were talking about thousands of dollars of awards here

Trust me, I know. knowing you worked your butt off and getting rewarded for it is a feeling that only a few people can understand. I wish the best for the kid and hope he does well.

Forgot about that. Gasilla could tell you more about that season. ;D. But still, we have had 1 sub par season. I was wrong on years too. It's not 30 years, its 35 years.  8)

They also have 5 kids on defense this year with D-1 offers already.. WO-S will kick butt this year trust me
They might, all the way up until they play La Marque. :D
Hmmmm......LaMarque.....we've seen them a few times before. This is a new era for the Mustangs. Last year we made the quarter finals when everyone gave up on us in week 3. The new era is more of the same. The same coach that has been there for the past 30 yrs, he just has a different title. No predictions out of me except we will win. We will win many games just like we always do. I'll ask yall this, who in this area can say they have NEVER had a sub .500 season? Man, I would even like to see the stats of schools state wide. I'm not saying we win state or make long runs every year. but you have to admit, we have been the most Dominant team in SETX history.

Here's there record with LCM (a 4A school incase you didn't know) [Hidden Content] Here's another one with a 3A school Jasper [Hidden Content] Last year they took the 20-4A district champs to overtime and came very very close to winning. I think that speaks for itself. What has Coldspring done against the greats of SETX?
coldspring beat WOS last year in playoffs. So that would make them better than WOS advancing all the way to the semi's i believe. The year before that they played for the state championship. Do not get me wrong WOS is very good, but the simple fact is Coldspring is better.
The past 4 years yes Coldspring has had the upper hand but lets check consistency here. Who has been consistently good?
True WOS has been a better program over time, but i think, this is just my opinion, that Coldspring is the best small school team is setx this year, so they have the best chance of beating the other teams like WB. Not saying that they would, but i think they have a better chance. Just because WOS has been better in the past that does not mean that they are better in the present.
hate to disagree with ya two cents, but the WOS of now in no way compares to the WOS of old. I know, I played against them. Today, Coldspring is the better team and they have proved it. I saw the playoff reel. As far as SETX, seriously, who is gonna match up with PAM? And don't say Westbrook(not this year).
Ok, I'll give Coldspring the past couple years. Great team with great coach. However, the Cinderella seasons end this year for the Trojans. CS has been consistent for 2 years.....WOS has been consistent for 30. I'm not a scholar but that's a little difference. Trust me, the Mustangs are just the same as "old". Thompson is a mirror of Hooks. A hall of fame coach leaves, and we make it to the quarter finals with a "new" coach. I'll give CS props because they have had great teams but consistency is not the Trojans.
 10. Toby would turn the Bulldog program around. He also puts just as much emphasis on other sports besides football too. As an AD, thats what you want. His "discipline first, winning second" is a direct result of playing for and coaching with Hooks and Thompson at WOS. He would be the correct selection for the job.

The OC that was asked to teach was Morgan's brother, he didnt like that.. 2. He wanted several coaches out of the class room and full time coaches... (I personally have never known a coach in jasper to not teach except the HC and AD..) What would a coach do during the day play golf? they only have two work out periods in the field house..Some of the coaches that teach, teach PE and are only there for 3 periods..come on. Coach Brooks= left for tyler after about 3 years Coach Lauve= stayed for about 5 years (best years we ever had) left for 5a Coach Brooks= came back coached couple of yrs and has stayed with district. Coach Bicham= lead program in wrong direction (the inmates ran the prison) Coach Morgan= 1 year..has program turned around in every area, great coach. I think we need to look for someone with jasper ties that maybe has parents here or went to school here..(coach Mixon and our baseball program is a good example) Next coach will have a great team to work with and will be successful..
It is not uncommon for OC's and DC's to have "light" teaching loads. 2-3 classes out of 7. Some spend time at the junior highs working with their "feeder" athletes, teaching the high school way of doing things. Football is king and it's good to be the king.
Wen I was playing at WOS in the late 90's, we were a larger sized 4A school. All of our coaches taught except for Coach Hooks. I had our OC at the time, Barry Norton, for health. Even coach Thompson (DC at the time) coached PE and Health I believe.
Agreed. Does anyone come to mind that can deal with such harsh (sarcasm) demands and make things right? I'm at a loss...
I say give Toby Foreman a chance.
I agree.  A young coach who is willing to come back to Southeast Texas and put down roots and be there for a long period of time like Gene Walkoviac (sp).  Having coached a WO-S, he is used to the "demands" and "challenges" of a smaller ISD with regards to responsibilities of coaches. He would be a great fit and I understand he is VERY interested.
Im with you on that. Except for two reasons, and one being selfish. 1. Im not sure with some of the comments about a power struggle or parents putting pressure on the coaches. Toby is a product of WOS and wont stand for that. His expectations of dicipline and accountability could stir up a hornets nest. Also, he doesnt do the "little johnny has to play" thing. Best 11 diciplined players on the field period. 2nd. It would be hard to root against him if we were playing him. He needs to be in the Blue and Silver. Having a friend coaching an arch rival "though very respected" isnt my cup of tea. lol. All that aside, if they would let him do what he does and keep the politics at a minimum, he would have that team winning immediatly.
 15. Not sure how to comment on this. I was on the field when Reggie passed and although it wasn't from a hit, it still haunts me to this day. I'm not sure what an answer or solution is. With our technology in the 21st century, you would think that we could prevent these injuries. I was watching a show last night about grand prix/formula 1 racing in the 60's and 70's. Because of negligent tracks and inferior equipment, there was like a 20 mortality rate. It wasn't safe until the 80's when they developed better protection. Is there better material and or technology for helmets and pads? Are they too expensive? There is no price you can put on a highschool kid. Now a days when kids are evolving into larger frames, there has to be evolution in protection.
 16. Guys, its a b.s. automated response to any and all concerns with their programming. I guarantee you that the complaint from baby wasn't even read. It came in as a concern and her email auto replies that garbage. Honestly, the only way to really make a stink about this is for another media outlet to do a story about them. If I was the mayor of Vidor, I would ask the Orange Leader and the Beaumont Enterprise to address it. Better yet, the Examiner. They tell it how it is.

The Vidor folks should contact anyone and everyone that has involment and demand an over-the-air appology and those guys should only be able to get a job as a shopping cart guy at dollar general. I pray that all of our local Orange County media sources and elected officials, stand up for the Vidor community and make sure those morons pay for the blatant racism. I guess graduating the 8th grade is enough to be on sports talk radio now. I know an elected official quite well here in Orange County and will bring it to his attention. Trust me, the man doesnt tolerate racism or smithing of our great county or its great citizens.
 22. How can this happen? Those guys should be terminated. Look at the radio guy a few years ago (Don Amos?sp)that said something about a black basketball players hair and it made national news. He was also terminated. It wasnt meant to be racial, he was just making a joke. This, on the other hand, is racism at its worst. This needs to be brought to the attention of everyone involved including CBS. That is just plain sick!!
