1.

Who's? Coach T? Those are his workouts.  :D
:D :D I couldnt handle that Mustang Mile  :D
Of course you could. Here is a funny story. When i was a freshman player there, I was fortunate enough to get info from a senior player. See, what thompson didnt tell the freshman is that you had to always beat your time from previous years. And folks, were talking about the mustang mile numerous times a year. Before it was all over, you had run it probably 15-18 times in 4 years. So what did I do? Took the advice. I ran my first Mustang mile as slow as I could without the coaches catching on. So by the time i was a Senior, I could beat my past times. ;D Now, I think i just ruined this for next years freshmen. Sorry, Coach T, it had to come out sometime. ;D
 2.
surely he's not better than Coach T?? No offense but IMO Coach T IS WO-S.
Funny thing is...EVRYONE sees that it should be Thompson but the comitee. I dont understand?? Coach young is a great guy and knows some of the WOS tradition, but to compare him to Thompson, no way better for WOS. Thompson should get this job, no discussion
 3. Young was our recievers coach in the 90's and head track coach. Man, that guy was like 45 yrs old and remember him beating everyone in the 100yrd and the 40yrd. That guy could fly. He actually was beat by Carl Lewis to miss the olympics. true story. He was on the US track and Field team. I believe early '80s?
 4. Well, Coach young is good. He coached me also. Now better than Thompson? No way. The point that needs to be stated is that this job is a about the right fit, not nesessarily a better resume. And the only reason why Thompsons resume is short is because he had been the DC for 30 years. lol. I honestly feel the kids will feel BETRAYED by their superiors if Thompson isnt picked. That is a situation that CANT happen.
 5.
It is a great thought, kicker.  However, the stability and rigidity that makes such a gesture desirable to all of us is exactly why a school district, and this is any school district, would never do that.  They would not want to be held to perform something 2,3,4 years down the line unconditionally when conditions may very well have changed.
Another great point. damn, Im 0 for 2. haha
 6.
Uh, taking it down a notch doesn't help increase the traffic here on the site. ;D
Lol, you selfish person you. lol :D
 7.
kicker, that sounds all well and good, but if the board and the sup never wanted CT to have the job in the first place, why would they have set up a contract for him to take over when Hooks retired?
Very, very good point. But if the contract, or whatever you would call it, was done then the Super would have never had to make the decision. He just got here. he would have been told upon getting this job that there was a plan in place for the next AD and then it would be off his shoulders.
 8. I think everyone needs to step back and take a deep breath. Now that i know who people are, I understand the intense emotion. Erik and Todd, I agree and disagree with some of yalls points. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and thats the great thing about our country. However, i believe that taking the gloves off and fighting is not how CT would want this. This whole thing is dividing the WOS faithful and its sad. Why dont we just all calm down and let the process take place. We are Mustangs, and Hooks and CT taught us better. Lets try to mend relationships and not wear our hearts on our sleeves here. Ive done ALOT of thinking, now that i know who is who and what is what. I think, in the end, the right decision will be made and hopefully relationships that have gone sour can be reconcilled. you know, this is really about the kids, not you or me or any of us on this board. We need to watch what we say and do because those same kids read these boards. i think it would be for the best if we all just take it down a notch.
 9. You know, on the other thread that post from Guillory, if in fact it is him, scarred me. I know Erik and he has always been a nice guy to me. Something isnt right about all of this. I believe that emotions are getting the best of people. I had a feeling that this would divide the Mustang family and relationships will be ruined forever. I was hoping that I was wrong, but to see them two(you know who im talking about) take the gloves off, supports my sentiment. Wish this would have not have happened. in my most humble opinion, here is what i think could have prevented this: Hooks had to have known that he was contemplating retirement. I believe that there should have been some type of contract or plan in place for CT to take over as soon as Hooks retired. This could have been done a year or even two years ago. Get everything on paper that CT gets it and make a plan for a smooth transition. I am in no way saying that this is Hooks fault, i just wish that there would have been a plan. Just like Dallas had with Garrett. Then all this division and negative subjectivity would have NEVER happened in the first place.
 10. Im sure that requests were submitted by all the news outlets on the first day you could ask for one.
 11.
You guys are really pathetic. The statements are laughable. Now Lcm is going to be a powerhouse because of some mass exitous from Wos because they would be upset cause Thompson didn't get the job lol. Most of these players didn't like to play for Crouch when he was at Wos, they sure aren't going to follow him to a losing team. These kids grew up dreaming of being a Mustang. I can assure you that many players have been asked about this and most say the same thing and that is they don't care who the coach is,they just want to play ball. So these statements you are making are totally ridiculous and wishful thinking. If anything, alot of players might come back. Another thing, intimidation tactics no longer work in this country, it just pisses people off and it would end up hurting your candidate instead of helping. Calling committee members and stating me and other former Mustang's are keeping an eye on folks like you who obviously have a hidden agenda. Todd Broussard are you serious?  Is that yoa threat and who is folks like you?  Yes I called you out. Your gonna say something like this over the phone loud enough for this persons child to hear who's also a mustang player, then your gonna turn around and text this b.s. some of you are losing your minds and if coach T doesn't get the job, you can blame your self.  Kerry you participate in this foolishness, but when your talking to the committee members your totally different. Your in the media, you should know better then involving yourself in these intimidation tactics.  People calling other candidates, trying to intimidate them telling them to drop out is just wrong.  Most of you who are ranting don't even live in this area anymore so you can't do anything about any decision that is made other than cry like some little wimps ...grow up.
What in the world are you talking about? Who is intimidating who? And why insult people? What is wrong with you buddy? Most of us just want to see a man that deserves this job get it. I dont know what you are talking about when you say it will be Mustang fans' fault if CT doest get the job. Is there information that you know and not sharing? Maybe that would bring light to what you are saying. Just stop taking jabs at people on this board, and getting all upset. Need to chill out man. Ok, nevermind I see now. Note to self....read the entire page before replying. lol I will say this. If he is indeed Mr. Guillory, then his rant just validated ALL of the rumers about this so called "comittee"
 12.
If the right choice is not made then WOS althgether will not be the same.  LCM and Coach Crouch could be your next football powerhouse in SETX and the enrollment at LCM could jump way up, but more importantly those who already question Colbert's motivates will know for sure what his agenda is and will be for the future.  This could be a turning point for his future as the super as well.  Just sayin  ::)
No, your not "Just sayin". Your telling the truth. What you say is absolutly correct!
 13. I sure hope that we are overreacting WAY MORE than needed about all of this. I hope that this is just procedure and that the right decision, Coach Thompson, is chosen. Like I have said before, with all the backlash, negativity, resentment, protests, etc looming on the wrong decision, who in their right mind would go against the 99% of people's want and not pick Cornell Thompson. I say 99% because there is a 1% population that has a personal agenda to eliminate the Hooks/Thompson era because their "little jimmy" didnt get to play. Well, "little jimmy" , might not have been able to play safety better than, oh....Earl Thomas, or better QB than.... Deon Beasly. Seriously, that is the mind set of that 1%. Once again, I pray that i am wrong about what has been told to me from close sources, and what I have read here. If, in fact the speculations are true, there will be a very, very bad end result. Like I said, this decision could cause a MAX EXODUS from WOCCISD. People that dont understand that have to be blind, or not from Texas......hhmmmm :-\
 14.
if they drop high school sports, how will it effect college sports, scholorships ect.?
I wont, all their college players come from Texas anyway. lol ;D
 15. Things are certainly beginning to smell fishy. If this is a very sought after HCAD job, as reported, then why in the world is a comittee(that was repordadly formed to get the publics opinions) contacting coaches? In my opinion, this is recruitment. After all I have said, I am starting to lean towards grad's take on this. Something Is NOT right. All the "contacted" coaches have a common denominator that has NOTHING to do with ability. If the speculation I have learned is true, then that is down right wrong. It has come to rumor(and i use that lightly) that this "comittee" was formed in order to find reasons NOT to give the job to Thompson. If that is true, then all the once again, "rumors" of the great new leadership is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. This is starting to look like a personal agenda rather than a "TRANSPARENT" fair process. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I am now officially worried, negating my previous posts. I really hope I have put my foot in my mouth. Trust me, this is the one time I pray that I am wrong.
 16. We shall see. I hope and pray that thomson gets the job. Ive noticed many people on here talking about Toby. As to my understanding, Toby puuled his name out of the hat. So that means Thompson vs. who knows. The one thing that is striking me with question is why the comitee searched for , or recruited coaches to become a part of the interviewing. How many other schools have ever done this? I thought the point of the comittee was to get the publics feedback, not to recruit candidates. ???
 17. Ooooh, buddy, this is going to become a very controversial issue. I see it on the wall. Rumors are going to start flying about corruption, race, ethics, you name it. I wish this wouldnt have happened but Im afraid its already too late. I agree with WOCCISD following rules and regulations on this matter, but dont agree with the secrecy and no information, when the public was told it was going to be a "Transparent" process. This has been the exact opposite and believe this is going to cause ireparable tax payer vs. district damage.
 18. I still think that everyone is getting a little too upset about all this. I really think that Thompson had the job even before hooks retired. I just think that our new Super. is trying to show everyone in WOCCISD that rules and regulations will be followed. We needed someone like this that does the right thing no matter of any opinions. We need that leadership. Our district has been in too much turmoil since Super. Jeffries left(about 2000 0r '01 I believe) and needs to put all the pieces back together. Think about it guys...who in their right mind would come to a school, become the new Super who is supposed to fix problems, where the football program is NATIONALY known and try to blindside the taxpayers. Serioulsly. Anyone with intellegence would know who gets the job. We all need to take a deep breath and let the process, which is correct, take place. Im with TD and his logic, At first I was being subjective, Now im objective and realizing that the only thing that matters is the end result. Ive always been told that if you cant do anything to change a situation, just PRAY. lol. Disclaimer.....Ive already figured out how to pull my foot out of my mouth.
 19.
The fact that two coaches from within the district applied for the AD/HC job is not the reason for the interviewing process.  The only time a district can fill a position from within without interviewing for the open spot is if the move is a lateral move.  For instance if WOS had two AD's for some reason the remaining AD could just be named the AD.  This happens all the time with Asst. Principals.  Since the AD/HC would be a promotion for either WOS coaches, the interviewing process was unavoidable.
Thats what I thought. I knew there were certain rules, just never looked them up.
 20.
Committee or no committee.  To me it doesn't matter, I know that both methods have been effective in finding coaches in the past and it is really that the beauty is in the eye of the beholder of which method to use.  I further realize that the Government and Education Codes here in Texas require that this position be posted and opened to the public for a period of time.  To those ends, the West Orange-Cove CISD has complied with federal and state law. I do have misgivings about the motives of some of the members of that committee. MANY share my misgivings about at least one of those members.  But it is not the structure of the process that I have problems with. The criticism is with the actions of this committee.  Those actions that have been attributed to Mr. Colbert and his committee lead to a conclusion, that while maybe incorrect is certainly reasonable.  And quite simply that conclusion is that Mr. Colbert and his committee seem intent on naming a coach that meets a certain ideological goal that Colbert and the committee share rather than searching for a coach that is best for the children of the West Orange-Cove CISD.  This ideological goal, by the way, has long been dismissed by the United States Supreme Court as unreasonable and  unconstitutional.  Reports of these actions have not been met by reports of acts to the contrary, nor actually a denial that it is occurring. They have been met with pleas to merely to wait until the end and see that I may have been wrong all along.  And I admit that is a reasonable way to proceed and certainly find no fault with anyone who advocates such a mindset.  I just don't agree with it.  Some might see it as injecting negativity into the argument.  I prefer to see it as exposing the negativity of actions by a committee that, at least in reasonable appearance, appears to be bucking what those in and out of the Mustang family....and in and out of the coaching fraternity that the new coach would enter....hold as conventional wisdom. I fully understand that there may be consequences to my actions.  I am currently trying to gather information about the local teams for next year and I fully expect the next coach at WO-S, regardless of who that may be, to be instructed to render very little aid in getting information on the Mustangs.  And I fully realize that others may face consequences FAR MORE severe than that because of airing their views.  But should I be incorrect about where the actions of the committee are headed, I will gladly sleep at night with the moniker of one of the "boys who cried wolf."   If I was correct and remained silent, I am not sure I could sleep so well.
I know one thing about your post,....Skipper will never be able to understand it. lol. ;D
 21. Im leaning toward TD's side here. ive said from the beginning that all I have heard is good things about the Super. and another thing i heard was that he wants to turn this district around and do things BY THE BOOK. So by doing the comitee and due process in hiring a VERY important job, he is doing what he said he would do. Like ive said before, I will believe in the man untill proven otherwise. This could all be his way of covering all bases and has known the whole time that it was Cornel's job. Now, the schoolboard, well thats another thing. lol. VOTE FOR TONY!
 22.
Do you think someone in Palestine is bad mouthing Cornel?  If I remember correctly, he did not have an overly successful tenure there.  Also, doesn't he still live in another area outside the WOS school district?  Could that be a sticking point with the board?
Nope, What happened in Palestine was that Coach Thompsons workouts and dicipline were too much for the players to handle. There were also ALOT of "little jimmy " politics over there. That is why he got away from Palastine. Had nothing to do with records. And as for him not living in the district, has nothing to do with it. So tell me, should you get fired from a job in Beaumont because you live in Orange? Also, find me a place in orange that you can raise 25 longhorns.( and trust me, they are big and fast) lol
 23.

The school board election is where change needs to be made, most people haven't figured that out. As far a people being in positions because of other things other than ability, well that has been going on with the program for a while. To much putting on friends and family and passing over people who are probably more qualified, so don't assume by what your hearing that, these people you are referring to are only being put in these positions because of anything other than ability. It's giving these people the opportunities that they were constantly being passed over for. As I stated, I love coach Thompson. I don't want my comments to leave people thinking I have anything against him. I think he is a great coach, but as I stated there are some things that the new coach needs to be willing to do in order to bring this school and program to the next level. There are alot of good candidates and we want a great coach, but we also want someone who is going to care about every sport, every kid and give every kid the opportunity to succeed on and off the field. Kids don't need to be ran off from the school because they don't fit the stereotype of what a mustang player should look like. Every kid should get the opportunity to shine on the team , not just the player that you looked at when they were in the seventh grade and you decided, this is going to be my starter in high school...make them earn it, because this kid might not have gotten any better since, but the one you overlooked back then might have, but you will never notice because you are too busy having this picture of what this kid is going to be in your head that you can't see the superstar on the sidelines. This isn't directed at coach T, but there have been  some of that going on. By the way, I'm a female.
Once again, foot in mouth. You are making my "little Jimmy" point accurate. You say that kids get "runn off" because they dont fit the "look"? That is funny right there. the kids that leave, leave because they werent mentally tough enough to play at WOS. look and see where those kids are in life now. You probably dont want to know. I see you are one of those people that believe everyone wins and everyone plays. Well guess what, thats not life, thats 6 yr old basketball. Wow. i cant believe my "little jimmy" logic was just proved. I love it. You want to know where "little jimmy" schools go? No where. These kids at WOCCISD deserve the BEST coach for the job and the BEST opportunity to have dicipline instilled in them so they can succeed in life and understand that you dont always win. I will always support the kids. However, if the WOCCISD board doesnt have changes then I wont support them. These people are paid by our tax dollars. They represent the community and students at WOS, by bringing in an outsider i honestly believe it will hurt the kids. That is...if there will be any left at the school.
LOL. My little Jimmy? How old are you? my goodness. The committy is working to get the best coach for the job and for the  kids, but because they haven't moved in your favor, you question that? The process has to go on and the best person for the job will be chosen. It's a shame this has to be explained to some so called grown men.
Why are you so adamant about insulting me? And yes I am a grown man, a respected man. i dont know what you are trying to provoke on here but its not going to work with me. Im not insuting you, and I would appreciate you to stop insuting me. Obviously you dont know who I am, and thats ok, but if you did, you wouldnt be calling me a child or whatever things you tend to brumble out of your mouth.
