Believe so. I think in the 80's, we beat a 5A school that won state the same year we did. Also, I believe it was '97 season, but we beat Baycity in pre district, Lost to Lamarque in the 3rd round that year, and I believe Baycity won 4a D1 and Lamarque won 4A D2. Two state champs out of the same district. Man if we would have went D1, we probably win state that year. Dang Cougers. Always had our number. We got them in 2000 though. ;D
Could you be a bit more specific. I know for sure that in 1958 3-A Breckenridge beat 4-A Wichita Falls and both went on to win State
Thats about as specific it gets out of me. lol. I was about 6 or 7 years old when it happened. Im sure WOSGrad or Gasilla can confirm or deny this, but I believe we beat Aldine macarthur or Nimitz in pre district, and we won state and I think they won state in 5A -
I concur, looks like next Monday is here. ;D

Upcoming 2011 Football Camps/Workout Programs
kicker replied to hfmom08's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Just an idea, but i was going to try and do a kicking camp this summer. I am thinking about getting a few kickers to help me. kickers with experience ie. College, NFL, etc. Dont really want to charge for it except maybe a registration fee that will pay for the shirts that will be given out. The reason I am posting this, is to see if there is intrest in this locally. I would like your feedback, maybe ideas. Im not speaking for all schools in SETX, but im tired of seeing all these Austin area and Dallas area kickers getting all the awards/scholarships. We have plenty of talent here in SETX, just need specialized coaching. I would like to teach mechanics, mental toughness, and strenghth and conditioning, all for the kicking game only. The positions that I would offer at the camp would be placekicking, punting, snapping, and holding. i have plenty of resourses to get the right coaches and instructors. Like I said earlier, I would like yalls feedback on this and see if there would be enough intrest. Thanks -

The Sooners also run it... and TCU... It's good misdirection and if a D loads up on the run then QB can check off to a one on one passing situation with two split ends. Just another way to move the ball... I think it's good stuff!
which is why you are not a coach and on here talking smack. Its too predicitable and easy to cover. Will not work consistantly.
The formation TCU runs is a shotgun with 3 backs surrounding him their are no split ends.
You are right... but TCU also run with two split ends... as does Oklahoma State and Oklahoma... OSU calls it their DIAMOND formation... OU calls it "BACKS"... I'm not saying it's the Wishbone in the gun... BUT you can run the triple option out of the DIAMOND... zone read with the pistol back and one of the half backs as a pitch back ... That makes three which is triple option. Pretty simple Coug... OKLAHOMA STATE was the top scoring offense in the nation... A lot of big plays with the DIAMOND which is a pistol back and two half backs... split ends or no split ends.
I see your logic, but the backs have to be very quick off the snap. Like someone said, you have to get 7 yards before you can get any positive yardage. i see what you are saying about the triple option, seal the outside, and off to the races. i still think smart LB's have an advantage due to them being able to see the play develop faster. Then bring your strong safty up to be a spy on a hot route or a option sweep if your linebackers get contained. With a safty that has speed like earl Thomas, he could get to the perimeter before the backs do. It all depends on who you are playing, and how fast and intellegent their defense is. JMO

And Acadiana is as high as 10th in some national polls. Not better most years, but I was talking about this year.
You are correct, they lost to a no-name school by the name of Evangel Christian (yes, I am being sarcastic).
Ahh, Evangel, talk about a mini college. They recruit out of state. I believe they are in Shreveport. That school is a QB breedhouse. Im trying to think of the QB that came out of there a few years ago. I think he played at Michigan??

Best Running Back in Texas, if not Nationally
kicker replied to bh89-2's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Just dont understand why our kids are going north of the Red River. Man, Okie State and OU have 90% of their teams from Texas. What the H....? -
In my years(95-99), we had some good ones. Mackolous Toler, Bretlin toler, Jamaal(tootie) Warnell, Tim Feathers (also my teammate at UH), etc. We have always had awesome backs. And dont forget, even though he is the best rookie defensive back in the NFL this year, Earl Thomas was a running back at WOS.

RESCHEDULED DUE TO WEATHER - SETX Football Fan Fishing Trip
kicker replied to bh89-2's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
You call those tiny little things fish. ill upload some REAL fish for you to see. I caught a 182 pound yellowfin last year. On that trip, we caught 800 pounds of yellowfin. It was unbelievable. We also got ling, grouper, etc. we kept hooking hammerheads though. those ba%$^#!$@ are a pest. We also caught a Maco, we drug him all the way back and drowned him. I also caught a huge grouper at about 50 ft down. kinda wierd they were feeding so shallow. On that 182lb Tuna, it was the most unbelievable workout I have ever been through. lifting weights dont do crap compared to that. It drug the boat around. i got it in the boat with no harness, straight pole. 4 of us fought it for an hour and a half. I hooked it, so i had to fight it 85% of the time. I still have bruises on my stomach. lol -

I think the only part was inside 610 loop that was 713. Then they added 281, then when cell phones came out and got super popular, they added 832. i remember in college(back in 2000) I was at UH and my new cell phone was an 832 number. Back then, all 832 numbers were cell phones only. Now I believe its mixed. Cool thing is, when I get a call from houston, I can normally tell what part it is. If its 713, I know its inside of 610 loop, and 281 is outside.
Inside the lop calls normally ring different too. West side of "inside the loop" says, "hey big boy, I am ringing you". East side of "inside the loop" says, "Cuz, pick up your phone Vato." Outside the loop says, "Howdy." ;D
:D :D :D :D

He is bigger than Doty and has a strong arm I am just not sure about his accuracy and instincts.
Miller is more of a running threat than Doty. Very smart kid (#1 in his class last I heard). He does not have the arm that Doty had, but few do, he can sling it though. I suspect we will see more designed QB Draws and some Spread Option, but PNG will still throw the ball regularly.
The one thing that i am excited to see is how little jimmy Salter will mature as a QB. Being only a Sophomore, he was forced into a situation that noone would ever want to be in. Yet, he showed tremendous poise and maturity for his age. The experience and adversity that he went through this season is priceless when it comes to experience. We know he will grow physicaly, but also know that he will grow mentally. The next few seasons will be fun to watch. He is going to be a good one, mark my words. ;)
I have heard about Salter for a couple of seasons now, but what I hear is that WOS is set bigtime at QB the next 4 years. Freshman kid next year may even push him some in 2012. Nice problem to have! ;)
Well, our stable is definatly full, just alot of yearlings that have to be polished. ;) -

Seems like it was a no brainer from the start. He's a Newton man, coached along side Barbay, etc. -

This is HS sports people. All this stuff on both sides is pretty rediculous. After the year we have had, it put things in perspective for me and hopefully others. Just be happy to be able to watch these kids play. you will never know when tragedy will strike, and all this bickering doesnt mean anything. The only thing that matters, is how you carry yourself and do unto others as you want done to you. I dont know what happened, didnt see tape, wasnt at the game, but do know that this is rediculous. look at the things that mean the most in life... Just please before some of you post, just really think.....this is a game, a buch of kids running around. What have we sunk into to treat each other this way? Im sure ill get bashed for this post, but come on guys, there is much more in life than HS football. Be thankful for what you have and respect everyone, even your enemies.
Kicker..You my friend are right on the money. How quickly people forget. +1 for you
Thanks for the pos. Karma lol, Ive been a victim of the "negative karma Nazi" thats been flying around here lately. Still trying to figure out who it is. they have attacked a bunch of us. Anyways, Yes, people forget real fast. We need to realize what the real important things in life are, and this really is not one of them. I have been haunted by what I saw and experienced on that dreaded Friday night in September. It has changed me forever, and I hope it changed others too. Life is too short to say and do stupid things. live every moment as if it were your last.

I know im a little late on this, but couldnt get to a computer untill now, lol. Congrats indians on a great season. No one really thought yall were going to do much, but yall proved them wrong. Just goes to show, its the kids that decide what a season is going to be like, not us posters, polls, rankings, etc.

Its very hard for a WOS kicker to make first team. I believe I only made it once out of three. What happens is that we at WOS dont kick many fieldgoals. No one to blame, or at fault, just proven. So with that said, thats why it happens. Not taking anything away from the BC kid, but Crew went from nothing to a very good kicker in a very short time. If he would have had more chances to kick fieldgoals, it could have been the other way around. I do know that these picks donot define any type of scholarship opportunities.
