Actually there were a few great kickers from WOS. (In no order)R.Turkell, B. Prouse C. Dryden(my predecessor),F. Shuman(My successor), J.Wheatly,S. Smith (punter only) etc. I know there are some that I cant remember. Oh, and i heard David Taylor (WO high) could punt a mile. I also think Justin Sparrow of WOS will turn some heads this year. I worked with him a little and he looks to be a good one.

Kickers are a very important part of a football team. To be a good team, you have to be efficient in all three phases of the game.

Yes Skipper, a good Kicker is a FOUR step affair. Sanap, Hold, Blocking, and of course leg strenth and accuracy of the Kicker.

Couldnt have said it better! When I played, we always had summer baseball going on. When 2 a days came we were already aclimated. I remember hating staying inside during the summer. Well unless it was watching a movie with my gal. ;D

Man, all I think about when I see things like this is how lucky I was in HS. I pray and Hope the kid makes a full recovery.

Just imagine if we (WOS)would have gotten by Yates in '85. We win state in 5A. Yates went on and pounded Permian in the finals. Coach Hooks said he thinks that was the best two teams he had ever seen going head to head.

Man, that sucks. seems like more and more of this is happening. Sad. I hope the boy is ok, prayers from here.

I played for Coach Hooks and Thompson at WOS. Yah, it was hot as **** during two a days, but they knew our limits. They (and Mr. King, trainer) watched us like a hawk the whole time. Our trainer didnt sit in his AC'd office, he was out there with us and his fannie pack. (still makes me laugh). Like I said , they knew our limits....oh, and the ones that sat in the house all summer too.

I dont think Coach Hooks was talking about HS Trainers, I think he was talking about that National Society. I can understand where you might get flustered, but if you knew coach Hooks personally, you would see his joking personality. He's always saying funny things. Prolly all he was doing.
