Santa Fe at Barbers Hill/Santa Fe wins 35-7
Maybe ya'll got too dizzy from those vertical stripes on your new uniforms. WTH is that about! Reminds me of some of those dog ugly throw back NFL uniforms. Did the School Board approve that purchase?
Not sure who approved them or how it went down, but they are clearly an almost exact throwback replica of the BH uniforms of the 1950's. I think there is some kind of "get back to basics" move going on. I'm good with that as long as it doesn't take all season! ha. BTW...Santa Fe was actually pretty darn good. Very few mistakes. Tough defensive line. Very good tailback and a patient, accurate QB. Good luck to them. -

Pretty ugly. BH defense stayed on the field most of the game including about 20 min of the first half even being +2 on fumbles. The bottom line in my opinion is the BH O-line better learn the blocking schemes or its going to be long season. Apparently, the tunnel didn't help ;) I have to say I like the intensity of the players and coaching staff. We start executing our blocking and we will be fine. Freshman QB played a large portion of the game too, that was surprise. -

Barbers Hill vs. Pasadena Memorial - Tonight
HillGuy replied to bh89-2's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Ok just back from the scrimmage! Pasadena Memorial won both types of the scrimmage tonight. During the controlled scrimmage the score went PM 3 BH 2 and then there was a live half played where the score was PM 21 BH 13. With that said I think BH did an awesome job against a 5A playoff team with a first year coach and complete scheme rebuild. PM is picked by Dave Campbells Mag to Win District 22-5A with an enrollment of 2,802 students! Looks like coach Gage and crew look to have done a great job with the amount of time they have put in. BH had trouble moving the ball at times and contending with the speed of PM, but overall it was a good scrimmage for BH. Next weeks the real deal and I see the Eagles improving each week. Go Eagles
I was impressed with the new scheme as well. Other than putting the ball on the turf about 7 times, we looked good considering an entire new offense. Also, saw more emotion, fire and intensity from players than I have seen in a LONG time at BH ;D -

I am really liking this retirement thing. I can mow the grass, and do lots of make up work that has been put off for the last 8 years or so. ;D
I did retire for one year ( and REALLY enjoyed it)....I took the Bret Farve retirement package. However, in the end, I coudnt stay way, youre right.....I love the the game and the kids.
But will you wear your retirement sandals out on the field? ;D ;D Good luck my friend...I miss it too!
What is the word on this district? Don't hear much. I believe this could be a FUN district race to watch. You Basketball GURU'S help me out ;D ;D
I think BH takes it if everyone's healthy, but Dayton will be very competitive this year. My very early prediction is: 1. BH (slight rebuilding year and new coach, but could finish out better than last year) 2. Dayton (returns a solid core and very good defensive team) 3. GCM (no big stars, but play well together as a team and pretty well coached) 4. North Forest (returns District Offensive MVP, but hey, its North Forest...who knows what they will show up with?) Long shots: CE King, Crosby No-shots: Lee, Galena Park Nice to talk a little basketball in August!

I know that was a tough decision GCMPats. Been there. Good luck to Price this year.

However, I don't understand why you leave a team with the talent HF is bringing back. It can be argued the HF pg is one of the best in the area and I heard they were getting a transfer just as good if not better.
Better than HF's point? That would be hard pressed to find in this area, but if so, could be a very dangerous team next year.
There is always the rumor of great transfers...rarely is it actually true ;D

Kyle takes over at BH From sports staff reports Baytown Sun Published June 4, 2010 MONT BELVIEU — Kit Kyle was officially hired to be Barbers Hill’s new girls athletic coordinator and head girls basketball coach, athletic director Ronnie Gage said Thursday. A native of Carthage, Texas, Kyle has been head coach and girls coordinator at Flower Mound Marcus High School in the Lewisville School District. Kyle said Thursday night she will not be able to assume her new job until the completion of the school year at Marcus, which will not come until June 11. She does plan to oversee the Lady Eagles’ basketball camp, which begins June 14, she said. At Marcus, Kyle coached girls basketball for 14 seasons, taking her team to the playoffs 11 of those seasons. -
Congrats to Sophomore Kendall Shaw! Mayes, Shaw named MVPs From staff reports Baytown Sun Published June 3, 2010 The Anahuac boys basketball team made history this year by advancing to finals of the Region III tournament. The Barbers Hill girls wound up one win shy of the regional tourney. Braxton Mayes and Kendall Shaw, their on-court leaders, are the MVPs of the boys and girls All-Area Basketball Teams for 2009-2010 as chosen by The Baytown Sun sports staff. Mayes, a senior, led the Panthers farther than they’d been in the playoffs since 1986. He led his team in scoring with an average of 21 points per game, as well 11 steals. “He’s the free safety of basketball,†Anahuac head coach Ben West once said. “He eyes down the offense and predicts where they’re going with it next.†The Panthers rebounded from a rocky start against a rugged non-district schedule to a final record of 22-15. Shaw, a sophomore, was named all-state in Class 4A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. She led her team in scoring in both its playoff wins and her defensive presence in the middle shut down many a foe. The Lady Eagles went 29-6 and came within a bucket of upsetting eventual state tourney team Del Valle in the regional quarterfinals. Rounding out the All-Area Boys Team are three players from Baytown Lee, two from Sterling, two from Barbers Hill, one each from Crosby and Baytown Christian Academy and Mayes’ Anahuac teammate, point guard Jordan Tarver. Xavier Ruben was 21-5A’s co-defensive player of the year for Lee and teammates Rhahmael Scott and Jaevon Richardson join him on All-Area. Sterling is represented by Andre Corley and Dashaun Williams while Carson Asbury and Austin Crawley are the BH picks. M.J. Mitchell of Crosby and BCA’s Brad Armstrong complete the boys squad. Shaw is joined by three BH teammates on the All-Area Girls Team, those being guards Shannon Evans and Jenna Silva and forward Jasmine Carter. Lee has two picks in Tyisha Jiles and Troy’nae Smith. Denise White represents Sterling, while Kelsi Laskoskie is Anahuac’s pick. Jessy Saenger from BCA, Renisha Shepard of Crosby and Goose Creek Memorial’s Candice Thompson fill out the squad. The Baytown Sun All-Area Basketball Teams Boys MVP: Braxton Mayes, Anahuac Brad Armstrong, BCA Carson Asbury, Barbers Hill Andre Corley, Sterling Austin Crawley, Barbers Hill M.J. Mitchell, Crosby Jaevon Richardson, Lee Xavier Ruben, Lee Rhahmael Scott, Lee Jordan Tarver, Anahuac Dashaun Williams, Sterling Girls MVP: Kendall Shaw, Barbers Hill Jasmine Carter, Barbers Hill Shannon Evans, Barbers Hill Tyisha Jiles, Lee Kelsi Laskoskie, Anahuac Jessy Saenger, BCA Renisha Shepard, Crosby Jenna Silva, Barbers Hill Troy’nae Smith, Lee Candice Thompson, GCM Denise White, Sterling

If you are willing to write the checks, they can help. But there are cheaper ways to skin the cat. Just have to do the work yourself.

Kit Kyle leaves Flower Mound Marcus to take Girls BB HC/Girls Ath Coordinator position at Barbers Hill. Latest news is that John Chancellor (recently reassigned at BH) has accepted the Girls BB HC position at Crosby. Welcome, Coach Kyle and good luck to Coach Chancellor at Crosby! Kit Kyle bio: Kyle just completed her 14th year as the head coach of the Marcus girls basketball program and the women's athletic coordinator for Marcus High. Coach Kyle's record of excellence includes leading the Marauders to the State Playoffs 10 out of the last 13 years, and to 9 District Championships. She has had the opportunity to coach and develop 47 college scholarship athletes, and as of the end of the 2008-09 season, amassed 342 career wins - all at Marcus. Coach Kyle graduated in three years from the University of North Texas and earned a Master's Degree in Kinesiology from Stephen F. Austin University. While at SFA, she was a graduate assistant coach under Coach Gary Blair, who led the Ladyjacks to a 30-3 record and an NCAA sweet 16 appearance that season. After SFA, Coach Kyle had the opportunity to work for Donna Capps at Crandall High School as a varsity assistant in basketball and as the head boys and girls cross country coach. In 1993, the chance to work as the varsity assistant and JV coach at perennial state power Duncanville arrived. From there, she had the chance to be an assistant at the University of Arkansas, joining forces again with Coach Gary Blair - now the head coach at Texas A&M. After two seasons at Arkansas, Coach Kyle saw the chance to come back to Texas and take over the Marcus program. Her strong leadership, exemplary work ethic, and attention to detail have fostered a dedicated, competitive and fundamentally sound team of girls year in and year out, and has focused on developing young women to achieve excellence not just in basketball, but in every area of their lives.
