What about this Barbara Hickey from Orangefield, she played at Lamar, 4th leading scorer of all time there, got as far as the Elite 8..Barb do you still hold the record for the high jump at Lamar too?  ;)
Ha...no offense taken (but doubt Bleed has ever seen her play)...My DD will make her own mark...whatever it is.  Maybe if this thread lasts another 7 yrs or so, we'll see LOL Thanks SportsJunkie, but its  a little early for this topic   ;D
 2. BIG game Tuesday  ;D  Looks like K-Park had a tough one against Dayton the other night...glad to see BH isnt the only one to have a bad game once in awhile.  The refs at GCMBH weren't stellar, but it was weak play and missing 18 free throws that made the game with BH close...don't see GCM staying close next time around.

 4. Lake Travis' new head coach: defensive coordinator Hank Carter By Danny Davis AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF Published: 8:01 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 Two years ago, Lake Travis searched the state to find a new head football coach. This time, school officials simply looked down the hallway . The Lake Travis Independent School District announced Friday that defensive coordinator Hank Carter will be the Cavaliers' new head coach. Carter, 33, had been serving as the team's interim head coach since Chad Morris stepped down on Jan. 17 to join the University of Tulsa coaching staff. This will be Carter's first head coaching job. " I'm really excited," Carter said. "It's going to be an opportunity to keep this thing going. I know there are going to be more good times ahead." Carter, who played high school football under Morris at Eustace, joined Morris' coaching staff in 2000. He has coached at Bay City, Stephenville and Lake Travis, and he won state championships with Morris at Bay City and Lake Travis. He constructed a defense at Lake Travis that allowed 16.0 points per game in 2008 and 14.2 points per game last season. The Cavaliers were 32-0 over those two seasons while extending their winning streak to 46 consecutive games. Lake Travis has won three straight Class 4A state championships. Last week, Morris gave his longtime assistant coach a vote of confidence. "Obviously, we wouldn't be in the situation we're in right now, winning two state championships, without him coaching our defense," Morris said. "If he's not ready right now, he'll never be ready. This program will not lose a step with (Hank Carter). Matter of fact, it probably will get better." Carter becomes the third head coach at Lake Travis since the Cavaliers last lost a game, 28-21 against Westlake in September 2007. He said he is ready to step into one of the top high school jobs in the state. "I wouldn't be interested in the job if it wasn't a place where you're expected to do well," he said. "I know it's going to be a high-pressure job, but that's OK." Most of the Lake Travis coaching staff is expected to return next year, including offensive coordinator Matt Green. A new defensive coordinator has not been named, but Carter said he will handle the defensive play-calling. At this point, Lake Travis appears poised to make a run at a fourth straight state title. The offense will be anchored in 2010 by All-Central Texas quarterback Michael Brewer, who will welcome back three of his top four receivers. All-district defensive honorees Jonathan Roberts, Austin Williams and Colin Lagasse also will be back.
That was pretty low hill Guy but I understand people from By may not have experienced being on the positive side of a big win
Forgive my poor country-bumpkin reasoning, but how was that "low"...it sounded like this aspiring young coach wannabe's strategy will be to pile up as many points as possible, regardless of the situation...did you not read the same sentence I did?  "If a team couldn't stop my 1st stringers for 4 quarters, it's not my fault." So whose fault would it be?

 22.
LCM defeats Lumberton 46-23 in L-Town    The LCM Lady Bears defeated Lumberton 46-23. Tiffani Thompson led all scorers with 22 points. Shelby Apperson contributed another solid performance, chipping in 11 points to go along with 14 rebounds and 7 steals. 2-guard Shelby Tucker had a solid game as well applying constant pressure to Lumberton's guards forcing many Raider turnovers.   Lumberton had a fairly large crown in their gym, but the crowd never had a chance to get involved and were silenced from the beginning when the Bears jumped out early to a 10-0 lead and never looked back. The Lady Bears will take on Ozen Friday night at home.
Dang, that's two big games from that Thompson girl in a row.  Might need to do some scouting!  ;) Any feelings on the standings/playoff picture?  Looks pretty mixed up right now for 20-4A
 23.
Back to the topic ;D I wonder if BH will get some Turf and stadium improvements??? Also After the school board recieve so much grief on here I think they deserve a big kudos for the selection they made. I was a little worried my self that the good ole boy network may prevail and someones cousin gets hired, but the board amd Poole went way beyon by expectations in getting a coach for BH. Great job guys and thank you for trying to make BH the best it can be!!!!!
You can give kudos for the board voting yes, but they have nothing to do with the selection process.  I'm sure there are some out there a little disappointed that a "buddy", "crony" or "cousin" didn't get even get pursued...now they have nothing to complain about for awhile.  ;D Good luck Coach Gage and welcome to THE HILL.
