Who Will Be The Next Barbers Hill HC?
HillGuy replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
When will the Baytown Sun do an open records request for the list of applicants?
I think this thing will be over before an FOI request can even be processed. This is not going to be a drawn out affair like PNG. I hear their are LOTs of applicants and a decision, or at least offers, will be made soon. -
LCM over Nederland 58-53. From KOGT - On Friday the LCM Lady Bears defeated Nederland 58-53. The Lady Bears will travel to Livingston on Tuesday.
Nice, a double-double!...Good luck with the Lion hunting!

This will be a no surprises district race. Only question is if Kingwood Park can upset BH at home later this season before finishing 2nd to a VERY good BH team. The other teams are weak to very weak. Even GCM might get a playoff game this yr.
Does GCM have a Senior Class. I know we played them either last year or the year before and I don't think they had a Senior Class at that time.
Yes, this is their first year to have a senior class (as well as K-Park).

Team effort lifts BH over Panthers By Dave Rogers The Baytown Sun Published January 9, 2010 MONT BELVIEU — Kingwood Park wanted to sneak out of Barbers Hill’s Field House with a win Friday night. Unfortunately for the Panthers, there was no escaping the long arms and lightning quick hands of Shannon Evans, who joined teammate Kendall Shaw to trap Panther forward Larla Brown with time winding down. When Brown tried to pass over Shaw and Evans, it was left to Eagle guard Jenna Silva to come from nowhere and cradle the ball to secure a 60-59 win for Barbers Hill in the District 19-4A first-place showdown. The sneaky Silva had materialized all by herself on the previous play, taking a pass and banking in an 8-foot jumper with 12 seconds left for the game-winning basket. That gave her four points on the night. “It’s what we’ve talked about all year long; everybody has to be ready to make a play,†Eagles coach John Chancellor said after his team improved to 5-0 in district, 18-4 overall. “Jenna was sitting on the bench. Then she comes off the bench and makes the plays. She made the spark we needed.†Brown was top gun for the night, scoring 20 points for a 4-1 Kingwood Park squad coached by former BH coach Angela Gober. Jasmine Carter drilled jumper after jumper to lead the Eagles with 17 points. Evans finished with 16 points and seven steals and Shaw, the 6-foot-4 sophomore, rebounded from shaky free-throw shooting to finish with 13 points and seven rebounds. Seven steals for Evans seems an understatement. She and teammate Carli Manchaca non-stop pestered the Kingwood Park ball-handlers out front and helped keep the score low in the first half. Carter’s catch-and-shoot bucket, coming on an inbounds play with 0.5 seconds left in the second quarter, made it a 24-all deadlock at halftime. Three straight jumpers by Carter and a Shaw bucket set up by an Evans pass gave Barbers Hill a five-point, 33-28, lead midway through the third. But Kingwood Park caught up and led 39-35 after three periods, taking advantage of some Hack-a-Shaq fouls on Shaw, who missed eight free throws in a row at one point. But the Eagles came back at the start of the fourth. Evans went backdoor on a pass from Silva and Shaw scored on a lob to tie it up. Shaw found her stroke at the charity stripe and her two free throws put Barbers Hill up 41-39 with 4:47 left to play. Kingwood Park rebounded from a five-minute scoreless funk and finished strong in the final four minutes of the game, tying the game at 58-all on Jazmyn Johnson’s 3-pointer with 26 seconds to play. It turned into a four-point play when Shaw was called for a foul on the long shot and Johnson’s free throw allowed her to score her 16th point of the game and put the Panthers up 59-58. “Kingwood Park is a very good team,†Chancellor said, “and this was the kind of game I expected. It was a great tester and our girls showed a lot of character. “This is the kind of thing you build upon.â€

Ozen Panthers Get Win over Livingston Lions
HillGuy replied to COACH1UP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Well, hard loss for Livingston. I have been too busy lately to get on here. Taking Master's Degree courses so a little tired from all the writing. It was a terrible showing from Livingston. They were up by 11 after the first quarter and just quit playing. The two top players for Livingston weren't feeling good and had been sick since the tournament. No excuses though because they still had a chance to win at the end of the game. They just didn't show any heart or desire to win the game. Score was 54 to 52. Ozen came to play and Livingston just thought they would show up and win. Livinston had every opportunity to put the game away but they just didn't try. It will be interesting to see how Livingston comes back from this loss because they will come back. I think it was good for them to lose finally. Livingston was undefeated to that point. As for all the predicitions about Ozen, they are not a better team than Central or Livingston. Those three teams will make the playoffs, but it will be anyones guess who will be the 4th team. I am guessing LCM will be the top contender for the 4th spot, but who knows.
Good post...it is very difficult to stay undefeated. Everyone is out to take you down and its hard to stay "up" for every game. -
I think Crosby is also 1-3
My bad!...left them off but modified original post...thanks!

Ozen Panthers Get Win over Livingston Lions
Very good win! Should see Ozen in the Top 25 poll next week. What was the score and why is it taking so long to post this. :D
No kidding this is huge news...where's wishyouwere#1! I don't see Ozen in the top 25 next week though...maybe later if they beat Central -
As of 2/3: Barbers Hill 12-0 (secured 1st place) Kingwood Park 10-2 (secured 2nd place) Dayton 7-5 (Crosby and BH remaining) CE King 7-5 (NF and KP remaining) GC Memorial 6-6 (BH and Galena Park remaining) Crosby 4-8 North Forest 3-9 Galena Park 0-12 Thank you Dave Rogers for getting the correct CEK record...Chronicle is wrong!
GCM 58 Dayton 51 Patriots improve to 2-2 in 19-4A. Dayton lead by as many as 19 in the first half. Nice work ladies.
This is a good win for the Pats...impressive. If they can handle CEK next round and beat the weaker teams (NF, GP, Crosby), should have a good shot 3rd or 4th playoff spot.

BH 52 CEK 36. Lazy, slow, and error prone game. Typical back-from-vacation game.
Hey Hillguy, Thanks for your replies. I like a good argument. I am not trying to say the BH is a terrible team, I just think that sometimes those who do the rankings have no clue what they are talking about. They still had Central ranked higher than Livingston and a few other teams even after Central lost to Livingston. How can that be? I have seen BH play at the Montgomery tournament. I am not so sure that they are as good as everyone is piping them up to be. They were blown out in the game that I watched pretty badly. So, please pardon me if I am not that high on BH right now. They have plenty of potential, but I believe they get higher rankings due to the coach they have and not the play of the players. I could be wrong and will admit that if the time comes that I need to concede my thoughts. Until then...good luck and I wish BH the best on their season.
Good luck to you as well...you probably caught the low point of BH's season (The Woodlands)...our big, Shaw, had rolled her ankle and we had some off-court distractions that day that probably affected the girls' play. Its all good now though and they are clicking along. Big game against K-Park, who is very underrated IMO, this Friday. No doubt Livingston is good and very well-coached...it will be a battle royale if and when we meet up! -
Once again TABC is smoking dope if they think BH is better than Livingston. That is a complete joke if I ever saw one.
Maybe so, hopefully we will find out for sure in the playoffs. Welcome to the forum though and smack talk is welcome. I question Livingston's defense and overall depth (compared to BH), but no doubt they are good. BH is VERY good, but has shown some inconsistency, resulting in a couple of losses to just-above-average 5A teams (like Woodlands and Channelview). Other two losses were to very good 5A's Clear Springs and Cy Falls.
I want to know who comes up with these rankings. There is no way that Central can be ranked about Livingston or Willis who they lost to. Barbers Hill....bwahahahaha. They haven't even played anybody worth talking about except for who they lost to in their own tournament. PAAAAAAALLLLLLLEEEEEAAAAASSSSSEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
BH beat Willis by 10...but thanks for trying to stir a little ;D -
You got to be kidding. The Willis tournament had better teams in it than the Gulf Coast Classic. Give me a freaking break.
Let's see...5A 14-5 Clear Springs, 5A 17-5 FB Austin, TABC #15 4A Friendswood (14-2), TABC #14 4A Barbers Hill (16-4 and beat WILLIS by 10)....I don't need a freakin' break. -

BH loses to a very solid Clear Springs 53-40. Lowest point total of year. Outside shooting died on us in the 'ship. Really hurt not having starting senior guard, Paris Carter, for the tourney due to sore knee....she'll be back for the district run though! Good job, Lady Eagles. -
