This tournament will feature a few future D-1's (IMO). 5A Clear Springs has Soph guard Aaliyah Brown (15+ ppg). 5A Mayde Creek has Junior Jazzmin Parker (20+pts pg), 5A Fort Bend Austin boasts another super Soph in Nicole Blaskowski (22 ppg) (injured, so not sure if playing). Kendall Shaw, 6'4" Soph post for BH is averaging 15 ppg, 5 blocks pg. Also, Sr. Guard Annalisa Hall of Friendswood will put on a show. Hall will not be playing BB at the next level since she is committed to Oklahoma as a soccer player. Very, very fast and talented basketball player though. Ozen's Alexus (sp?) Brannon is another special athlete (all-American track and field) to watch. She can jump out of the gym! -

Woodville Vs Bridgecity Woodville wins!!!
HillGuy replied to Aiden1's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I'm not from there, but pretty sure "Bridge City" is two words....you might show some respect to your opponents by spelling their name right.....other than that, congrats -
Prediction: Livingston rolls easily to final in this one and wins it by 15 over Magnolia
A team dropped out, so Coach Hall is trying to replace it. Coaches got a tentative bracket, but I probably shouldn't post it until she's told us it's the final version.
Rupe, can you just post the teams entered?

Does anybody REALLY know what happened @ Ozen Tuesday night?
HillGuy replied to Slam14's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Really sorry that happened. Sounds like some Junior High tournaments and track meets I've seen. Its a direct reflection of the Athletic Director (and staff) when that stuff happens. -
On a related note, true story: I was co-managing a 12U team and was approached by another 12U manager to ask if my DD could pick up with them the next weekend due to injured player. I said, sure, we aren't playing or practicing so why not? Pool games go fine with DD playing OF and batting 9th. First bracket game, DD comes out of dugout as lead-off, looking at me behind the fence with bewilderment, but it was too late for me to do anything. Turned out to be a very uncomfortable day for both of us, especially me sitting with the other parents. Note to rookie coaches: be very careful how you use your pick-ups, and if you are gonna use them in skill positions or other than last in order, explain why ahead of time to your parents and players.
I saw in the chronicle that K Park and Dayton bith won BIG!
Yep...19-4A scores: Dayton Kingwood Park (2-0) 67 GCM (0-2) 45 Dayton (2-0) 48 CE King (1-1) 20 Barbers Hill (2-0) 61 North Forest (0-2) 30 Galena Park/Crosby ???

GREAT advice. Of course there is a whole 'nother discussion of unwritten rules on how you utilize the pick-up on your team to keep you full-time parents and players happy LOL.

Who Will Be The Next Barbers Hill HC?
HillGuy replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think BH would be a great draw and all these post won't matter one bit at the end of the day. I agree, anyone with Alymond's resume would likely not leave for BH unless he wanted to stay close to home and nothing better was out there. As for press box and not having turff, I have to take up for Price here. I also would love turff and a new visitor side. Yes I think we need it and yes I think we will get it. Now don't go think I am getting soft on Price, I am not.... ;D Fact is most of us do not have an unlimited amount of money to spend at will. If we did we probably woulnd not be living in Chamber County and certainly would not be posting on here. We all remember (well, most older folks do) The Robin Hood Act. Then, BH dumped a ton of cash into almost every building we have. Since then we have added a new baseball field, new football practice field, junior high football field/track, improved basketball facilities, new score board, improved home side of football stands, built new press box, and much more. I can't even begin to imagine what all this cost and I am pretty sure anyone from smiley, CE king, Dayton, Crosby, etc..... would love to have 1/2 the money BH spent. The great news is the citizens approved those funds through bond referindums. Consider those who have turf and what facilities they have: Dayton's stand are poor at best, Dayton's locker rooms are older than dirt, Crosby's stands are so small you have to share a hot dog with your neighbor, Galena Park shares their stadium with someone (not just anyone either, NS). There are poor districts who have nothing and that's giving them some. I really think we need to be thankful for what we have and be responsible with what we want/need. We have spent a ton of money and yes we need to spend more. Hopefully the new guy will put together a plan the Board will approve for turf and expanding the visitor side stands. Frankly, with all that has been done over the past years, not sure how anyone could justify that expense before now. OK, so not to be soft........glad we are getting a new coach.
Well put. Additionally I believe that we were close to taking up the turf issue before Rita, and then Ike. Ike inflicted the 3rd highest $ damage to BH facilities of all school districts on the Gulf Coast. (Something like $13-15 mil, but could be off). When you are having to replace infrastructure critical to meeting academic needs, sports facilities should come second. Remember it took an entire year to get the field house/gym back in operation (better than ever!). I'll say something about Dr. Poole now, since there has been some bashing on here...I have come to know him a little on personal level (similar aged kids activities, etc), but more so from viewing his actions and decision making since he's been here. Its my opinion that he has worked tirelessly since arriving here, to not only keep the BH standard high but make it even better in the face of rapid growth. I could list numerous examples of why I think he is an outstanding Supt., but he doesn't need my cheerleading. I think a lot of people think a Supintendant should be a politician, trying to please everyone, and some act that way, but ultimately they are the "General Manager" of a business. Managing is a tough business, many times having to make unpleasant decisions, that are unpopular to some, or many, but best for the business. Its MY opinion that he has not shied away from making those decisions, and it has made BH a better place to go to school and work. I know I'd rather manage a business than a school district! At least I don't have to hear about little Suzy being treated unfairly and not making first chair in 8th grade band, ha. But somebody has to do it and do it well...I think he does an overall great job. -
BH vs Lumberton at 6 PM? The rest of the games are much earlier. But it will help Lumberton parents make it over after work! (even the delusional ones... ;)) Thanks to the scheduler if this is correct!
If you play the host team, you get the prime time! -
I don't know if the number is right (41), but I do know AJ is ROCKET fast!!!!!!!!
