Ok, it was Thursday, but BH defeated Alvin and Friendswood, twice each.

GCM better hope for rain and a muddy field, it works for them  ;D

BH will have a fish team, but for the first time in some years, may have to move 1 or 2 to JV due to JV injuries/low number.  They will still be one of the toughest freshman groups around, having never lost a game through junior high.

Slightly off subject  ;) but anyone know what enrollment number BH sent in?

Barbers Hill looked sharp last night, defeating Baytown Sterling by 45 and Atascocita by 19.  Atascocita was without their A&M commit post though.  Friendswood up next on Thursday.  First regular season game Tuesday against #18 state-ranked Booker T. Washington.  Good first test.

Central has a pretty good squad, only lost 1 senior starter from last years team, and all the returning underclassmen saw alot of time. [/quote] Argue away!, but I think all we will have to go on between BH and Central is going to be common opponents, since don't believe we be in the same tourneys.  The two teams played close in fall league but I know BH was missing a couple of VB'rs and stuck to a strict rotation (only 2-3 starters on floor).  Clearly, both are very strong this year though.  Good luck to the Jag's and hope to see 'em in region tourney

[/quote] They have everyone back (no seniors last year).  They have an all-state fwd (she's really not a post) and a highly ranked soph guard.  Currently ranked 7th in TABC.  Not sure they deserve that ranking, but they are dang good.  My only issue is that they don't seem to belong in the SETX rankings due the vague guidelines for boundaries.  They have zero posters on here and they are a long ways away.  But if they are on the list, they have to be top 3.

I'm going to go out on limb and say the the Eagles will NOT turn the ball over 6 times this time around!  Hopefully we will have some of those injured starters back by then too.

My son was approached by Jerry stewart back when he was a youngster telling him to keep up the excellent work . my sons been in that atmosphere . then moved out of dayton into Barbers Hill where i graduated back in 1982 and the atomosphere has changed quite a bit . not the same as it used to be . Barbers hill still has athletes [/quote] Of course BH has athletes...its just that they don't have (or had) ELITE athletes...THAT is the difference IMO.  Wolf, guess we played together!...it was no different for our '82 team, lots of hardworking, but average athletes that had a great season, 9-1 (loss was a fluke!).  Then two and done in playoffs.  Same story for many years..no different now.  Good thing coach Bob went into real estate, ha. Time for this thread to die, lol.

BHFAN, I have been agreeing with you more and more lately (one of us must be slippin!)...but have to call you on the comment about having the athletes.  34 said it and so have I in the past...we now have and historically had overachieving average athletes.  Sure, there were some good ones that had a chance to barely make a D1 team, but we just never have the "impact" players like Dayton's Green and Dugat, or the recurring talent pool of WOS.  Heck even GCM has player in their second year (Allen) who could play somewhere next year...that made all the difference for them this year.  This is not a defense of BH coaching, its just plain history.  You can't turn quarter horses into thoroughbreds.  A well run program with hard working (but average) athletes and supportive parents will get you regularly to the playoffs, but its pretty rare to get beyond the first or second round without some legit blue-chippers.
