GFPSB two wheeler Ice chest for sale.
HillGuy replied to WeedBegone's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
You too (and Birdman!)...sorry you got to do our worst game (well, at least one historically bad inning) of our tournament, we're better than that. DD said she felt like that one inning lasted all weekend, ha. -
This very topic has bugged me for years. It seems like there would be some guidance from NCAA coaches on this, but I've yet to find it. I do think that starting on first movement instead of "go" is most appropriate. The most REALISTIC would be LH/RH batters in their appropriate box, go on the crack of the bat, and the timer be a NEUTRAL, UNBIASED person, not Daddy, LOL. I posted a few months ago a scientific study of what Usain Bolt could run his first sixty feet in based on his Olympic 100m time...he could NOT run a 2.6 even with his speed (from a dead stop). Baylor boasted that they had one of the fastest teams in softball about 3 yrs ago, but had only three players that could best 2.8 according to their timing. Regardless of how timed, SPEED KILLS!

It's a shame that glove doesn't work. What glove was she using when she made that running/diving catch in left centerfield Sunday afternoon? If it's the "glove" that made that catch, you've put way too low of a price tag on it. ;D She FOUND the one she was using for that catch (left after a tourney we hosted a couple of years ago)...that one is now NOT for sale, ha. Great visiting with you, Birdman and DaMan at the tourney. -
Easy Weed...here you go, lol. GT Shockers 14u went 2-3 and played very competively (except for 1 fantastically bad inning) against the older teams, including "gold". Defeated Cy-Fair Shock Gold and a real quality win against Lethal Weapon in the last game, shutting them out 2-0. Overall a good weekend for the girls. LOL---Shame on those young ladies. Can you imagine what those coaches said to those older girls? Something like---you gonna get up and drive all the way over here to get beat by these T-ball toddlers followed by a bunch of @#$%$# and &$%*#!. I've witnessed and participated in a few of those speaches myself. ;D Congrats ladies. Hah!...exactly and its kinda hard to hide the fact that your team is full of "toddlers" when they are all wearing pink ("under-age") wristbands. ;D

Willing to trade a brand new Worth Freedom FP glove ($75 value)...DD claims "it doesn't work" (like the exact same model that just wore out). Can't really argue since my golf clubs don't seem to work either. -

I saw this one in person...very nice swing she has. Told her Mom she had better ease up or she is going to start seeing VERY few pitches to hit in her future, LOL!

summer league tourney schedule ... monday night
HillGuy replied to snooker's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Hey HillGuy, we know how summer league works. We don't put much stock in summer league games. I know you dont, Bleed (you're a veteran )....some who haven't been through summer league might get little over-anxious about it...just felt like pointing it out before anyone starts beating their chests in victory, lol. I'll get a little more excited at the end of July when we have our league tourney though. -

Ok everybody, I know we are all dying to see some girls bb, but lets not put too much stock in scores and who beat who...it IS summer league and lots of players are going to be missing at times. This is development time. And before you ask, yes, BH DID win their first one against Crosby )))) -

summer league tourney schedule ... monday night

BH summer league start this Monday the 8th. Games begin at 5:00 pm at Eagle Pointe. BH JV v Crosby GCM Red v Dayton BH V v Crosby Hamshire-F v GCM White -
Ned's going to have a tough road to playoffs with that young group, but their JV did give the BH JV one of their only 2 defeats last year at Ned's tournament (although there was some controversy around the scorebook/scoreboard --ours showed we won by one point, scoreboard said we lost ---that's another story though!! lol). Good luck to them, if not this year, next year should be strong.

roughly...cant wait! ;D

Yes they did, I was very proud of them........won 2 weeks in a row playing 18U........not bad for a bunch of 8th and 9th graders that are 14U eligible! This is a very good team!! I was able watch them last year at the 18u nationals and was impressed then. Hung around a few of them this past weekend and Craig has a good bunch. They'll have several more wins come their way. I'm excited about this team as well...been waiting months to have all the players available to play at the same time and FINALLY Saturday afternoon and evening it happened! Gonna be a good summer for GTS 14U I hope. Also, got to meet and visit with several area coaches and parents from other teams. We all get a little nuts sometimes, but what a fine group of softball leaders we have overall in the area! I need a cheat sheet to figure out all the OC teams and age levels, but I'm learnin'...good luck to all this summer.

hey, does your daughter play SS? And does she have experience in the lead-off position? If so, we need to talk........ LOL Eaaaaassyy!....that could be construed as recruiting another team's player in midseason ;D ;D ;D ;D

Stay off school property for practices, including batting practice and tell HS to coach not to come anywhere near practice and sit along the outfield fence in games (if come at all) and should be no problem. DaMan right though, got to be careful.

I don't have any stake in this at all, but interested. Have to say this is the first thing I thought of when I heard of this. Forming a team of players from the same high school is a good way to have a better HS team next year, but does very little to help gain exposure and experience for the players who will move to the next level.

Central should be strong, hope BH gets to see them before the playoffs. -

HillGuy replied to the1's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
VERY interested in that and working on it! Maybe we can work on some home and home scrimmage situations. Probably going to be after June, since we have a pretty busy month with summer league and camps. I'll PM ya BH is going to be very tough next year...I think Region finals is realistic goal. State the following two years. We are DEEP in talent and have talented height for the first time in years. -

That's Awesome! Congrats! -
I think I was the best "Coach Pitcher" ever I had an absolute blast coaching 6-8Ub select ball. Here's some of what I learned from coaching 6-8U select ball: -As a coach pitcher, pitch fast with very little arc...helps batters get ready for live pitch. - It hurts to get hit by a hit ball, even a "squishy" ball, ha -6-8U weeds out parents/players who will never be ready for real tourney ball at an older level -Some parents want their kids to be softball players, regardless of whether the kid wants it -Umpires, especially at the lower age levels, are human and make mistakes, just like real people...get over it -Seeing a young girl learning, improving and developing a love for the game due, even in small part, to you is PRICELESS

Or try here: Eteamz Tourney Search Looks like there are several coming up. If your taking an all-star team, best to stick with "all-star" tourneys unless you think you have a team that can compete with the select teams...I'll never forget our 6U all-star team getting trounced by a Deer Park select team way back when...I just had no idea how things worked, lol.
