The UIL grants District Champions and extra game during their bye week. Some teams save an extra game so they can play two that week if they finish in first.

vpride You just keep your mind on Friday and you might not like what happens on Monday and Tuesday. Monday has come and gone. Still thinking about Friday? Yes. You might end up on the outside looking if you keep talking district championship while not even having secured a playoff spot. You writing about Friday's game before Tuesday's game is a sign that you might be a guy that has not ever been in a race like this before.

I am trying to figure out how it should have been played last Thursday. Ozen and Dayton played Tuesday. Did Vidor and Dayton not have school Friday?

My guess is that Dayton is feeling like they went from the frying pan to the fire on this one. I may be wrong but I feel like they could have played this game on Friday but they needed Dewey to get another days rest. Then it rained Saturday and now they could be in a real bind. Four games in five days and five games in eight days. Last time there was a rain out and a Saturday game Dewey threw 18 innings in 7 days. I feel like for them to win he will have to throw more than that this go round and somebody else will have to step up big for the broncos. Good luck all teams this week!

This was the best high school baseball game I have seen in the last two seasons. Well played by both teams. Many balls put in play hard. Good defense. Simply a thriller to the very end.

Just got off the phone with the UIL. Next available date is Friday. Then the next available date is Saturday. Midcounty fields should be ready to go on Thursday by the way things are looking. Rain is moving on through and we should not get any more after it stops.

Who would have thunk it? Teams with most of their players returning are supposed to win. Preseason favorites Nederalnd 3-4 Vidor 5-2 PNG 7-0 Ozen 1-6 Dayton 4-3 LCM 5-2 Lumberton 0-7 Central 3-4 I think the "who would have thunk it" awards go to Nederalnd Who would have thunk they could be tied with Central at half way point Ozen Who would have thunk that they would be 1-6 at half way point Central Who would have thunk that they would be tied with Ned at half way point LCM Who would have thunk that they could have graduated everybody and still be in the race at half way point

I think a few Dayton people are beginning to give the rest of you a bad reputation. What a great kid Jake Rowell is. What a leader he has been for his team. TCSB feels the need to degrade him. I think that is just downright sorry.

If anybody can "right the ship" as you say it is Rivers. Has anybody noticed the improvement in Beaumont Central the last couple of years. In my opinion, he is the main reason that program got turned around. He will do it again in West Orange as well.

PNG has alot more going for them than you mentioned. Vidor will see the best pitcher they have seen this year. PNG has seen many better then they will face. PNG is at home. Vidor is on the road. You have to give the defensive nod to PNG with Vidor's SS out. Even with Harrington leaving ss to pitch. I personally think PNG swings it a little better than Vidor. You also have to give the coaching nod to PNG. Stone has much more experience in big games. (before you jump on me, I am not saying the other coach is bad, I am just saying that Stone's 20+ years experience makes him one of the best) History is on the Indians side. (which does give kids a mindset) PNG has won in the ballpark of 16, 17, or 18 of the last 20 meetings. This is just a guesstimate.

With the list you posted there, the nod obviously goes to select. I personally believe that if you post a list of PNG, Ned, and LCM kids that have signed over the last 10 years I think the majority were recruited off of their high school team. I realize there are some exceptions to that.

Dream Team? PA News staff must have been asleep while preparing this list. I will not point out some major mistakes, as not to take away from the kids that were chosen, but this list is a farse. Not as big of a farse as the softball dream team! One of the girls on that team graduated last year. PA News sports once again disappoints.

Then a confused young person from over here mouths off and then you tell us we were lucky you aren't in our district. Comon man. Chill out and have some sort of decency about you and try taking some of the things that these kids say with a grain of salt.

Yes. After two innings PNG will pull the pitcher that was throwing 90 and put in a guy throwing 90. After two innings he will pull him and put in a guy throwing 92. And then he will bring in their number one pitcher, the left hander.
