Yet the change in policy has left many Venezuelan activists and dissidents disillusioned given the ongoing human rights situation in the country. Venezuela remains the most egregious abuser of human rights in the Americas, and according to a U.N. report in 2019 is complicit in 7,000 cases of extrajudicial killings since mass protests began against the Maduro government.

So tell me what the federal government owes you, other than the freedom to thrive in this country? Please don’t give me the general welfare line.

The federal government shouldn't have to do anything on your behalf. The negative liberties he refers to are saying our individual rights trump everything and shall not be infringed., he doesn't like that, calls it a negative when it is without a doubt, positive. He knew that statement would appeal to those that are looking to get something from government, but it's what you would expect from a community organizer that doesn't want to see folks standing on their own.

Obama said the Constitution was a "Charter of negative liberties". You won't see any of the lefty scholars (is that really a thing?) on here wanting to discuss that, they certainly wouldn't when he was President. Now back to Trump.

Idiots being idiots. Charge them with the appropriate crime. Why would anyone 100% intent on taking Congress over and overturning the election not come in armed ready for resistance? It took them almost two years to come up with this and why anyone would have any confidence in this DOJ is beyond me. They had to have a win for the upcoming election. If Trump was out of the picture this never would have taken place. Not to worry, if things don't change we'll see the real deal and it won't look anything like this cluster we saw on Jan 6.

Agree, TVC swung his argument pretty wide on that one. I see a big difference in a procedural mistake in an arrest and unlawful search based on no real evidence.

Like a million other things, government should have no say in marriage, no telling you who you can and can't marry, and no tax advantages or disadvantages based on marital status. Problem solved.
