  1. If someone does not do the things that God commands them to do, they weren't saved to begin with. If doesn't mean you have to do them in order to be saved. Are you saying if you accept Jesus into your heart but die on the way to the Church of Christ to be Baptized, or you never got the chance to evangelize you aren't going to make it to Heaven? Is that what you are saying? As I have already said, Salvation is a gift...you cannot do anything to earn it.
  2. I think that is what I said. "If you confess and believe, I mean really believe (not just saying you do) the repentance has already taken place through the Holy Spirit." If you truly believe, you have been compelled by the Holy Spirit to repent. I'll be fine C1...worry about someone else that doesn't know Scripture.
  3. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. If you confess and believe, I mean really believe (not just saying you do) the repentance has already taken place through the Holy Spirit. It ends with thou shalt be saved after you confess and believe...very simple. God didn't make a mistake and leave anything out.
  4. So what Commandments are required for me to follow to earn my way into Heaven...I would like a complete list. Do not leave any out or you may miss out. There is the Great Commandment...so is there a quota I must fill or just one every now and then to earn my Salvation...your way is so confusing. By the way, that Scripture is taken out of context more than any other (mainly by the works oriented denominations), it is simply saying IF you are saved, your works will reflect it. We will just have to agree to disagee on this one.
  5. As does Romans 10:9. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. It doesn't tack on anything else...if there were something else to DO, it would not be a gift, you would have earned it. The works follow Salvation, but are not a requirement of it. I'm good with that...if you aren't, OK. And yes, the Church of Christ is a denomination.
  6. He was a turnaround specialist for failing companies...sometimes job losses are necessary because of poor prior management. You are reading too much Paul Krugman.
  7. You guys should focus more on saving those who are lost rather than nitpicking with those that are saved. One denomination does not have the only congregation of saved folks...thank God. There are way way more Theologians that agree that Baptism should follow Salvation, but is not a requirement for it. I have no problem with anyone believing that (won't keep you out of Heaven) but my beliefs won't keep me out of heaven either. Salvation is a gift, nothing you can do can earn it...are there Commandments you SHOULD follow afterward...absolutely. I think the Scripture Mat posted needs to be reread by some.
  8. Just pick one that's convenient.
  9. Happy Easter
  10. LOL...I voted for Romneycare. As a Republican, I knew he wouldn't make a run at national health care.
  11. Come one WE1, you know he knew this was a lie when he said it...but he also knew it would get votes. As far as Romney goes, no doubt he is a good businessman, but he is also a big gov Republican that feels like gov is the answer to all problems.
  12. I'll go ahead and answer for everyone...he knew this was a lie when he said it.
  13. So welfare, obamacare, medicare and social security is left to the states? No. The fed gov has no constitutional business in any of this...I know, I know, it's the way it is, but they really don't. I would rather take care of my own financial future, but the fed gov says no, and confiscates funds from me for my "social security" and medical insurance as well as inflated taxes to pay for all the other social programs (aka welfare) that I have to fund. The fed gov is neck deep in social programs.
  14. Yep...all that should be decided by the states. If someone doesn't like the laws a state is putting in place, there are 49 others to choose from. I am a social conservative but I don't want gov forcing my views on anyone, but I also don't want liberal views forced on me.
  15. Nah, we need to move right fiscally and leave the social part to the states. Left socially on the federal level always costs lots of taxpayer money.
  16. I couldn't agree more!

  18. Me too I think I'll bring a guitar.
  19. There it is... Have a good day C1.
  20. 8For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9not a result of works, so that no one may boast. I'll even use the ESV. We are saved not by anything we do...you can't do anything to earn salvation...it is a gift. Baptism is simply an obedient act that follows. I'm about done here...would still like to get an answer to my question...as a Baptist,Methodist, Lutheran etc, am I saved
  21. 1 Peter 3:21New King James Version (NKJV) 21 There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Get an accurate Bible...it's not the water (referral to the removal of filth), but a good conscience toward God - Saved by Grace THROUGH the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Read "Ripped from the Bible". Just check it out and make up your own mind. Still didn't get an answer on the Church of Christ question so I'm clear on it...as a Baptist, Methodist or any other religion other than Church of Christ, can I be saved?
  22. Exactly right...happened in 1881 from the Westcott-Hort text. C1, why in the world would the Holy Spirit put it in in the first place if He didn't need it? And many of the passages do change the meaning. Like I said, read Floyd Jones "Ripped from the Bible" and educate yourself.
  23. C1, Couldn't reply to your post...there was too much other stuff that got pasted looks like. You are wrong on Grace, It's a gift, you can't earn it...you (and me) don't deserve it...it is a GIFT from God. Should we be obedient...yes. But you cannot earn grace...it's a gift when we are saved...and is extended until we are called home. Can I get an answer on the Church of Christ question so I'm clear on it?
  24. There is if they are revisions based on the Westcott-Hort text...if you haven't heard of them, look it up. Read Floyd Jones "Ripped from the Bible"
