When you have someone that is receiving some form of entitlement from the gov, it's difficult to convince them why cutting their benefit is a good idea. I really don't get the "they care about me mentality" ... no, they don't...they just want your vote. I want someone that will run gov in an efficient manner, don't care if they care about me and mine.

Everyone loves free stuff...but we know it isn't really free and it can't be sustained forever. The problem is that more and more folks are receiving this "free" stuff in the form of entitlements and vote for those that promise and provide it (Democrats) in the general election. Why else would anyone vote for Sanders or Clinton...it's because they are promising folks something from gov. Guys like Cruz and Perry, on the other hand, make no such promises and in fact, want to shrink gov...many don't want to hear that message. Sad place to be when so many are looking to gov to meet their everyday needs.

How so...Habitat for Humanity? I think you would serve the American people better by getting gov out of the way and allowing businesses to create jobs so folks can buy their own house. Carter never figured that out...neither has Obama.

He is popular with the makers...if he makes it as the GOP candidate, he will not be as popular with the takers. Dems have a lock on the takers.

Sounds like he thinks there is room for improvement withing the RNC...I agree. Apparently, he's not unhappy enough to leave...he obviously feels it's still the best place to be. Never have understood why some voters must be wooed to get their vote...I have always looked for the candidate that will do the least, aka smaller gov.

Not pretending...didn't happen...why would he endorse another Republican in this upcoming election if he was treated so badly. Post some links of this bad treatment of Watts from Republicans if you have it...educate me.

Great guy and solid conservative...not sure what Dove was talking about...he even served an appointment under Bush after he left office.

I don't disagree with what you are saying, but what gets me is many people define Perry by gaffs in a debate rather than look at his many years as gov of Texas. That is what tells you what kind of President he will be, whether you agree with his politics or not. Obama on the other hand is a smooth talker but had no experience and was molded by extremists...very available information if anyone had bothered to research just a little bit. Sadly, this is the world we live in, low information voters that base their uninformed opinion on the last soundbite. As far as Cruz shutting down the gov...more power to him...I would love to see about 75% of the federal gov shut down permanently.

Because these guys make it very clear that if they were President, they would do everything in their power to cut back on entitlements. Too many people now want gov to to something for them. If all of a sudden, they promised free cars for everyone if elected, they would become as popular as your guy, deez nuts.

Now why would anyone vote for Perry...I mean, who wants the country to run like Texas. Let's put a Democrat in there so it will look like Detroit very soon. And Cruz, smaller gov, lower taxes...maniac. This country is much too enlightened to put guys like that in office.

He would have to be President for that...I like that he has folks talking so much about immigration but I can't see him lasting. Of course, I didn't see Obama lasting either...plenty of low information voters on both sides so anything is possible.

How is Trump the face of conservatism...because he's a Republican? Lindsey Graham and John McCain are Republicans also, definitely not conservatives...and that's just two examples out of many.
