How can anyone not like Albert Pujols? He's a class act in my book and the shot he hit off of Brad Lidge is still orbiting.
I agree...what's not to like about Pujols?
Yes, the Repubs. That disappearing breed who believes that everyone should strive to be a self reliant and a productive citizen that does not seek to be subsidized by others. That disappearing breed who believes in raising it's own family rather than relying on "the village". That disappearing breed who does not look askance at success and does not consider being less fortunate/successful to be a measure/indicator of greater nobility.
They will reappear in 2012 just as they did in 2010...have no fear!

LOTS of big yellow cats and big blues. The very best bait for big yellows is a live bass that is about 10-12 inches long. Not that Smokin baby would EVER use a bass for bait, but yep a birdy told me they are EXCELLENT bait. Not sure why they dont do that but just the way it is...I saw one person from a BISD school actually talking on his cell phone while the song was being sung....pretty sad really that someone cant put down their cell phone, stand tall, put their hand over their heart and face the flag for 3 minutes.
So, how many Bmt. games have you attended this season?
What does that have to do with anything? EVERYONE(players, coaches, fans, administrators, custodians, concession stand workers, etc.) in attendance at the game need to stand, place their hands over their hearts and sing the national anthem. Why this is even in question is a complete disgrace & those who actually contemplate what to do when the anthem is played should be ashamed.
Well said...I agree!

I never really thought about there being any sort of prescibed rules regarding etiqutte during the palying or singing of the National Anthem prior to reading this thread although I am not suprised to find that there are. I guess standing, removing my cap and placing my hand over my heart is just what I saw others do when I was young and now feel it is what is neccessary to show proper respect to my country. Below is the information I found: In 2007, Congress addressed this for the first time in 36 USC 301. This U.S. Code therefore created the first mandated national anthem etiquette. The pledge of allegiance should be rendered by standing at attention, facing the flag, and placing the right hand over the heart (the salute). Uniformed personnel, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and military personnel in uniform should render a hand salute. When the national anthem is played or sung, U.S. citizens should stand straight and rigid and salute at the first note and hold the salute through the last note. The salute is directed to the flag, if displayed, otherwise to the singer.
Not sure why anyone would have a problem with this but it's a free country!
This is what I thought too....Its not like the kids were wearing black gloves and holding a fist in the air in protest! GOODNESS! ::)
I think you misunderstood me...I don't see why anyone would have a problem standing at attention and putting you hand over your heart. To me it shows respect for the greatest country on the planet that we live in and respect for those that have served to preserve the freedoms we enjoy.

Livingston won 43-38. From what I was told Lumberton played pretty sloppy and towards the end had a chance to run time off of the clock but instead kept trying to drive which lead to costly turnovers/fouls in Livingston's favor. Aside from that I heard only seven girls on the Lumberton team played tonight. With the Livingston win tonight, a Lumberton win next Tuesday over Nederland at home, and a Livingston loss at Ozen there would be a need for a tiebreaker game between Lumberton and Livingston for the final playoff spot.
According to the win/loss record from this site, both teams are now 6-7. If Lumberton wins Tuesday and Livingston looses to Ozen, there should be no need for a tie breaker.
That's why I was asking earlier who won the last game between Livingston/Nederland...the thread says Livingston won but the standings have Nederland listed as winning...does anyone know which is correct.
Everyone is forgotten eventually. The Bible tells us this life is like a mist or vapor that comes and goes quickly. The importance of worth or value is different for each individual, most if not all of the coaches you listed (and overwhelmingly the majority of coaches) would more than likely tell you if asked, that they could care less if someone remembered them 20-30 years later, they would be concerned with what they did in each of their players lives to make them better players and better people, and how their famlies and their God views them. I go back to John Wooden and his book, "THEY CALL ME COACH", he was talking about one of his former coaches, Alonzo Stagg I believe, and people would ask coach Stagg if the team he was coaching that year was the best team he had ever coached, and he would reply, "I dont know, get back with me in 20 years and I can tell you". We must also remember that we are viewed on many different levels, from lay people, to fans, to people who think they know the game but really dont, people who DO know the game, to our players, to other coaches, to our family, and ourselves, and to God. I would rather be viewed highly by God, my family, players, and fellow coaches. JMO
Great Post!

last playoff spot in 20-4a
any comments or thoughts on the battle for the last playoff spot in 20-4a? theres no score on the PNG livingston game from tuesday night, im just assuming that livingston won, leaving them tied in district at 5-5. the remaining schedule looks a little easier on lumbertons side, with them having vidor, png, nederland and the rematch with livingston. livingston has central, nederland, the rematch and ozen. this could come down to the rematch. but its 20-4a and its completely unpredictable. im a little biased here, but i see the raiders edging out the last spot over livingston. what are your thoughts?
I agree...but I'm a little biased myself! ;D -

Is Select Baseball Ruining League Baseball?
LumRaiderFan replied to REDBIRD99's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I've never really understood "select" at ages 6-12. Kids are still learning fundamentals of the game at this age and can learn it in league play, while they are still growing mentally and physically. IMO, "select", at least what I would consider the top teams (SunDevils, Houston Heat, Kyle Chapman, etc. ) , are suited better for the older players (14-18) who are trying to get a scholarship. I've seen many parents (who mean well ) spend alot of money and burn their kid out at an early age. Just my two cents.
This post is dead on...select at 13-14...you'll still have plenty of $350.00 bats to buy! >:( ;D
