  Here's another fact...if we continue down the path we're on, the results will be financially catastrophic.   Regardless of how a SC justice interprets the phrase...we are becoming exactly what our Founding Fathers attempted to guard against.   The fed gov cannot continue to grow like it has...do you disagree with that statement?

  The true conservative answer to these problems is to realize the fed gov has no role in these areas...it should not fund excellence and it should not fund mediocrity.   Too many so called conservatives still believe the fed gov should be involved in powers not granted to it in the Constitution and for good reason...it was intended to be handled by the states.

  I like Bush but the increases to health care (Medicare Modernization) and education under him are nothing close to conservative...he, like many big gov Republicans, feel like the fed gov is the answer to many of our problems.   I am ready for someone that actually feels we need to shrink the fed gov...not holding my breath.

  The only conservative stances I'm concerned about are smaller fed gov so I can pay less taxes...leave social issues to the states.

  Simple fix...leave all these up to the states.   Let every state decide if it wants to allow abortion (murder is a state issue anyway) gay marriage and any other social issue NOT in the Constitution.   Problem is liberals do not want a straight up vote in the states on these...they would rather have this legislated from the bench.

  We can agree on that...leave the social issues to the states.   Problem is that liberals want the fed gov involved in social issues also (as long as it goes their way)

  I don't consider smaller gov and lower taxes ultraconservative...I call it logical.  What policies are you referring to?   I will agree that a problem with that is lower taxes and smaller gov impacts too many folks in a negative way nowadays...sad.

  I say put up a true conservative (smaller gov / lower taxes) and give it a shot...we haven't tried it since Reagan.   Look how that worked out.

  The landslides were because of backlash from Obama's policies...most folks don't want amnesty and obamacare.

  This is a little more important than proving a point to this President...we cannot handle millions more added to the taxpayers note.   Sad thing is that Obama and the Dems couldn't care less about these folks, they just want to secure the votes.   Why so many can't see this is beyond me.

  Maybe they realize that if this passes, it will do major damage.   Sometimes the right thing to do might hurt you...even though this won't.   I think Dems are the ones with the learning problem right now...they want to continue down the same road.

  Yes we can...either get a job and don't go to college OR get a job and/or scholarship and pay for your college.   Don't saddle the taxpayer with YOUR responsibility.   Both ways work for me.
