Re: 12u Try Outs for Beaumont Blast
tpriddy replied to Cake88's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
SUPERSOFTBALLMOMMA, were you a parent who was involved in any of this? If so, speak for yourself. My daughter was one that was "invited" to play with the team that went to Lufkin. And the person that invited her is a parent whose daughter is on the Blast. The way *I* remember it, we did not have all the details of the how and why prior to the first meeting. We were invited to play and we agreed. However, after the first meeting/practice, enough information was given to understand enough about why it was put together. If people didn't like it after the first meeting/practice, why did they show up for the second practice and play in the tournament? How that fits into DADS from the new GT Shocker team being deceitful, I have no idea. Troy and I never once felt like we were being deceived. The initial invitation has led us to where we are right now and for that I am thankful regardless of the hows and whys it all came about. Craig's point was that there are no dads coaching the new GTS team. The girls were not given spots based on the fact that one of their dads was going to help coach. Simple as that. Are you saying that the girls on the GTS team did not make the team based on their skills? Were you at the tryouts and did you see the girls that tried out? If not, then how would you know who should have received spots? I second what Dottie said....I believe that the decision to join the GTS team is one of the best decisions we have made for our daughter with regard to softball. They did bust their butts at tryouts (both of them) and continue to bust their butts at practices and have earned their spots on the team. If you don't believe me, come check out one of our practices. These girls have been practicing extremely hard and are still coming back for more. They know all their hard work will only make them better. So don't knock it until you try it. Why people (especially anonymous people) feel the need to create conspiracy when there is none, I will never understand. Get over it and move on. We sure have and are extremely happy with our decision. We are looking forward to the upcoming season and are not looking back. Amy -
OK, I didn't really want to post on a public forum about this but it's out there and everybody involved knows exactly who I am. The question I have about this is why can't we still make it happen? I have not given up on this team. The parents that I have talked to on this matter wants the same thing (DISCLOSURE - I have not talked to everyone involved). They want these girls to get a higher level of coaching. That part is done. The issue is that we have found TWO higher level coaches willing to take the time to teach the girls and bring them to the next level. While to me that shouldn't be a issue, it evidently is because this team will be split making it two separate teams. Just like there was in 10U. In MY opinion, the solution is simple..... bring these two coaches together & allow them to both coach the team. How we do this, I don't know. Evidently there is more to the situation that I don't know about. I would like nothing more than to have the top talent in this area play together starting NOW and receive the coaching that will bring them to the next level! These girls, as a whole could compete with the best in the NATION.
Shouldn't all second year 10U's be competing in the "A" division? How is PCB? Is it crowded? Hoping it will be pretty quiet next week when we get there with all of the non-softballers staying away due to the media beach scare! ;D We will be there Saturday. If we get there early enough we will come out and support you gals.
In a perfect world.......yes. The beaches are crowded but not overly crowded. Check in when we got here Saturday was CRAZY! Traffic has been bad. But the beaches have been fine. Some seaweed but that hasn't stopped anyone. Good luck to you all and all the local teams! If you make it early enough on Saturday, we would love the support.

OOC 99 won there first two bracket games today. Game 1: OOC 99 - 8 vs. Gulf Coast Fusion - 2. We started of the first inning a little slow in the field allowing them 2 runs. Then we came up and kept the bats going scoring three runs in the 1st. Then we took over the game behind some stellar pitching and defense. We kept the bats working all game. Game 2: OOC 99 - 5 vs. West U Wave (Texas "B" Division state champs) 0. We started the game with two walks and then proceeded to strike out the next 2 and then the catcher for us made a great snag at the backstop to end the inning and set the tone for the rest of the game. We came to bat and batted around scoring four on some stellar base running and forcing the other team to make some mistakes. Then behind another great pitching performance shut down the State Champs. Bats have remained hot. All the girls are making contact and seeing the ball well. We play the Midway Miss Stixx from GA tomorrow at 6. They are the GA "B" division runner ups. It has been amazing watching these 10 girls come together as a team over the last month. Things are clicking and the small things are working and coming together. Unfortunately I heard the GT Shockers dropped there first bracket game 6-1 to a team that should be competing in the "A" division.

Out of Control 99 - 5 vs. Tennessee Lady Jaxx - 1 in Pool Game #1 GT Shockers 99 - 5 vs. Kentucky Lightning - 1 in Pool Game #1 Out of Control 99 - 8 vs. Cary Crush from North Carolina - 0 in Pool Game #2 Out of Control 99 - 18 vs. Georgia Force - 1 in Pool Game #3 OOC pitchers have combined over the first two games to allow only 3 hits and I think only 2 walks. This is against some of the top seeded teams so far. The girls are making things happen. They are playing very well as a team. All five pitchers for OOC have now combined to still only allow 3 hits. We had a couple more walks and a fielders choice to allow a run in the third game. The teams bats woke up in a big way in the last inning of tonights third pool game. I hope we can carry this momentum into the bracket portion of the tournament starting tomorrow. We are really starting to see things click and see the advantages of playing against some really strong Houston teams. I do not have any more updates for the GT Shockers. Both teams start bracket play @ 12:30 tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully these girls can fight it out Saturday in the Ship for the 10u B here in PCB. Good Luck to both teams!!!!

There will be at least two teams in Panama City Beach playing in the USFA World Series that are mostly 99 birthdays at that time.

This has now changed to the North Sam Houston Raceway -
The one thing I would remeber in the future from all of this is if I was a head football coach. That even if I have a game in hand and a few seconds left on the clock I'M NOT KNEELING THE BALL!!! I would try to get every point possible because you dont know when those extra points would come back to help you!

Here is an interesting monkey wrench. Ozen Loses there out. Then Lumberton Wins and Livingston Wins. Lumberton, Livingston, Vidor and Nederland are all 3-3. Does that mean Nederland and Lumberton are in because they both won two games head to head between the four teams and Livingston would have only beat Vidor and Vidor would have only beat Lumberton. Really confusing :o :o :o
-
So what happens if Vidor Wins, Lumberton wins and Ozen Wins. Obvious Vidor is in. But then you have a three way tie between these teams I guess Ozen would be in since they won head to head against both Nederland and Lumberton. ??? ??? ???
