  1. I think that's just an ad, just click "Skip Ad"..
  2. Heck of a first gig for a young coach but perhaps as big is the announcement that Steve Lineweaver comes out of retirement to "assist", i.e. mentor him : [Hidden Content] SLC is a hot mess right now, it's a bold move that will either look like pure genius or pure stupidity. I believe A.D. Allman was reassigned pre-hiring so unless someone other than the interim A.D. takes the helm....well, like I said right now it seems to be a hot mess....
  3. They've had some good teams since the 90's, but this year they were young with yet another new coach, only a shadow of even the teams from the last 2 years. Whole district was very weak comparatively. Yates is Yates, I'm surprised it wasn't worse.
  4. Cleveland 60 Tarkington 50
  5. Is Sterling's field grass or turf?
  6. Don't need lights for Saturday games. Jasper is first rate for sure, long drive for both clubs. Crosby has built a fantastic facility but they're probably booked up I'd guess....
  7. Yep, Huffman had prom tonight game played at 4.
  8. Actually maybe that wasn't a change to start the 8th and it was a pitch count thing..
  9. Odd (to me) pitching change in the bottom of 8th for HJ, new pitcher to start 8th, faced 1 batter, got a ground out then pitching change. Both righties so not an "advantage" there, just seemed kind of strange, but then there's alot about the game that was strange. Another good outing for Horn's pitchers who did a great job. Best I can tell that puts Horns in the driver's seat in 23, good job boys.
  10. Horns 5 Panthers 3
  11. That's what I thought, but saw it called tonight just bouncing off the top back toward the lane creating a change of possession (and a no-bucket after it was rebounded and put back) at a critical point in a game that ended up being a 2 point game. I've seen it several times this season. Do refs have to go to training or even read the rule book?
  12. Yeah, it's a dumb rule, mostly for the reason you stated, it's called inconsistently. It SHOULD be one of those spirit of the rule things, is the player trying to get up with the ball? Is the player trying to advance the ball? Somebody will quote the rule song and verse, but at the end of the day you're right it's just not called with any degree of consistency.
  13. Not true in all cases, that sounds like ref speak for excuse to call whatever. A bad call is a bad call. I personally think they ought to eliminate about half the rules or simply them to the point of being "obvious" to promote consistency. Traveling is a good example, who cares if a player shuffles a pivot foot 3/4 inch before they dribble? Sure if they just start walking then it's obvious, but I see this "shuffle" travel called all the time, it's petty and senseless. Then same ref will let hand checks go all night. Ball hitting top of backboard (not fixture). Is it out of bounds or not? Ball OVER clearly is, but bouncing on top and back in play is unclear.
  14. Huffman 59 Tarkington 57 Good tight game all night on Longhorns senior night, congrats to Falcons on the undefeated district championship.
