Lamar vs Vermont play in game! Winner gets NC
CThoops replied to PhatMack19's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Vermont is fundamental and will shoot the 3 from all positions.. All white players and only two seniors.. If we win the turnover margin and Guard the arc, we can win this game ;) -
Margarita's is amazing! Best steak fajitas.. Gone there every time I go to the state Baseball tourney during the summer 8)

Pretty bad to get a play-in, but at least Lamar is playing.. Tough game if they win anyways against North Carolina -
Very! Not trying to get too ahead of myself either, but FSU isnt unbeatable either..
are those twins really committed to kentucky?
Not committed yet, but they are a package deal and could go anywhere they wanted to in the country -
I thin they make it though.. Large fan base, ESPN contract for Longhorn Network, 20 wins, Future draft picks to the NBA, SOS is in the top 20.. I think the things working for them out-weigh the negatives

I know that the thread is about this year, but Im very curious to hear what DickieV had to say about last years Nederland team.. 14-0? This years team = 12-2? Im under the impression yall think that if English wasnt coaching them, that Nederland wouldn't be in the playoffs.. That the basketball skill in that city is nothing.. What's your take on next years team? Just curious since they are clearly not even close to the same level as the Beaumont schools.. ::) Sorry I couldn't let that kind of comment go guys ;) Of course, congrats to all the people recognized on this list 8)
-
For further clarification, you imply the Nederland has zero talent and would have been nothing without English this year, so he deserves Coach of the Year

I dont know how old you are, but I put in bold a section that I want you to explain.. Or maybe next time, leave it off.. Kinda my point ::)

I believe English should have gotten this. Had less to work with, lost alot of seniors and no one expected them to do as good as they did.
Yes, English.....and not even a close call
Explain.
More with less....simple. It should have not even been CLOSE...Brian English is THE coach of the year in 20-4A...Nothing to do with standings as much as accomplishment...I think the HF coach should have been COY in that district, and they came in 3rd...
I agree with you on that Central's coaching staff have been lackluster for most of the year. but 2 out of 3 wins, it appeared that the Nederland Staff was outcoached. 2 out of 3 against a superior coaching staff? What does that say?
I think those two wins had more to do with personnel, than being "outcoached"...Central SHOULD have had three HUGE wins against Nederland...It was one loss, and two games that could have gone either way but the Central players imposed their will at home against them and just refused to lose...There was no REAL game plan to beat them, you know that...He didn't take away anything that Nederland does...Heck, they don't even watch FILM at Central! Nederland had no business being in the gym with Central OR Ozen...But they beat them both, at one point of the year, which put them out front in the standings before talent took over...
Bitter.. Just plain bitter.. Cant stand the fact that the little team who used to be nothing is now contending for district every year?

Got the equipment? ;D 8) Get some air time? -
You dont have to treat me like an idiot.. I know what Ozen and Central are bringing back and how talented the younger teams are, BUT saying a team that is returning 4 starters and the bench players after finishing the regular season tied for first place wont compete again is just foolish.. It is clearly a 3 team race at the top, (no disrespect to the other teams in district).. I thought after this season you guys who have realized that Nederland was here to stay.. All off-season on this board yall talked how Nederland was going to take a major step back since they lost all those senors after finishing 14-0, yet the young guys step right in a hardly miss a beat! Seems like respect hasnt yet been earned around this area.. Oh well.. Keep doing what you are doing Dogs! You have a proud fan base who knows what yall have accomplished! Oh and I still say good luck to Ozen because I want our district to be represented well! 8)

There is no hope for you then on here.. You would have gotten plenty of messages back at you because you deserve it.. They are ways to show you don't support a team or you feel differently about a situation, but you decided to criticize and blame their success on other teams short-comings or other factors in Texas High School Basketball instead of giving the success to Nederland for what they have done.. I'm 21yrs old and understand when to give a team congrats without excuses.. Win or lose.. You think you could try that?
-
Wait....is that crickets I am hearing this morning? It's awfully quiet on THIS particular thread now that order has been somewhat restored in District 20-4A... But boy if they would have won.... ...You would have seen 352 posts from NB-Dawg, baddog, Snoop Doggy Dogg and every other dog out there on this site!! It is just so QUIET on here this morning...maybe they are still sleeping...Reality tends to make you wanna just sleep it off sometimes... ...I get it now! -As Posted by DickieV- Just saying Dickie, do you honestly think these posts have no intention of bragging or continued effort to bringing down the success of a team? Have you ever considered this might be the reason behind all the returned hate being brought back to you? Come on man.. We all said Congrats and good luck to Ozen, then said congrats the Nederland on their season as well.. You cant do the same without trying to rattle the dog cage?
-
Congrats to Ozen.. Make the district proud next round. Great season Nederland. Heard it was a tough game and things just didnt go your way. Yall have continued the success from previous teams and represented Nederland Bulldog Basketball proudly. The cat is out of the bag now though for next season. Nederland only loses two players who saw minutes this season. Should be even better Next season! 8)

A large majority of schools recruit. It happens. I think Wise gets so much negative attention, because he puts up so many points on people. HISD has open enrollment. The great coach Boutte did recruit himself. I know of few people he tried to get and they denied him. I was offered a position on one of his Lincoln teams to get one of my friends to come over. I was no where near the player of my friend, but he knew I could influence him. Many people from the Port Arthur area know many kids zoned in the T.J. area played basketball at Lincoln. No one questioned the Houston Bellaire team that was stacked with Emeka Okafor. There were many players on that team from other areas in Houston. When I was in high school I saw a lot of kids transfer into Silsbee to play basketball. Also Nederland lands a lot of Port Arthur kids on it's Football team. I know quite a few, this years tail back, who made the move due to a crowded back field at Memorial. Does Wise recruit, probably so, just as many others do. But I think he is just better than most. Hell I know back in the late 90's, plenty of kids from Beaumont were playing ball at Hardin Jefferson.
You became a member on here to tell THAT LIE? ::)
How do you know he is lying? Do you know him?
DV, it's simple math. Yes, Nederland, HJ, or others who have good LD programs have an advantage, but the pool is pretty small to choose from. It allows you to groom kids, but the talent pool is small. In Houston, no you probably don't groom the kids from a young age, but the talent pool is huge. If a kid can choose his school within HISD (and he can from what you have said), then the cream of the crop can and will choose Yates. It is happening now, right? The pool to choose from is absolutely huge compared to what is over here in this area. This deal is "apples & oranges" to borrow one of your phrases. Give Yates credit for doing what they are doing, and taking advantage of the system available to them. Give Nederland and HJ credit for doing what they are doing here with what is available to them. But to compare the two is a fallacy, plain and simple. "Apples & oranges".........................................................................................
8)
If Ozen shows up and gets off the bus, they will beat Nederland.... ::)
That right there just shows you are living in the past.. That is the EXACT mindset Ozen had when they were a state ranked force every year! Welcome to 2012 8) This game should a fun one, and both teams playing some inspired basketball

Ozen is playing good right now. But as their loss to Livingston proved, they are also capable of playing badly, as is any team. IMO previously played games don't mean much at this point, it is all about the game at hand. Overall, Nederland will handle Ozen's pressure, and will ultimately win this game at the FT line in the 4th qtr
How did you come to THIS conclusion? FT Line? You have got to be NOSTRADAMUS to predict that sort of outcome...You WANT Nederland to win...You HOPE they win...THATS ok...Just say that... ::)
Same as you KNOW Ozen is going to win right?
I wonder if HF had beaten Navasota Friday night if they would be the favorite against HJ this Tuesday?? ???
Of course not!! Nederland is the favorite in the pick-ems right? Oh wait.. :-X

HA! you treat these people on here like they are clueless!! Here is the problem: Your Ego. Nederland is winning. Ozen is winning. Central is winnning. They all won their first 2 games. They EARNED those spots on the bracket where they played. You need to come to your senses and understand that NO team in this general area compares to Yates, so stop comparing SETX.com teams to them. We know this. Duh. And NO ONE has made a claim we could beat them.. Nederland is good, not elite.. This area has good basketball compared to others, and its being proven in the playoffs..
