1. Congrats Central. They are a tough bunch to beat
 2. Execution! Must make possessions count! Limit the turnovers on offense and finish the defensive possession with a rebound! Nederland will win if they limit Central to one shot possessions.. That means all 5 crash the glass and box a man out! I think Nederland plays some inspired ball late and wins 47-43 8) It is always hard to beat a team 3 times in a season

Based on your logic, Nederland SHOULD win bc of all of the seniors, right?
Every team is different, however, having seniors DOES make a huge difference in big games....But MOST of you on here won't understand that... ::) ::)
We are incapable of understanding this concept you speak of!!

Dawgs now have the confidence from the Ozen win which will carry over. Look for another great defensive effort by the Dawgs. We must do better on the boards of we are going to win. Since we have a lot of Seniors (and Central has mostly underclassmen), we should win (according to THE expert)! ;) Dawgs take it by 4. 5.
I am hopeful that you will learn this before you are about 75 years old.  Trying to tell a group of people (either directly or by less than discreet inference) that your knowledge and experience is so amazingly superior that they are not worthy of conversing with you is the wrong way to approach things.  The day will come (hopefully) when you will realize that there are a lot of smart people in this world and NOBODY has a lock on superior intelligence.  In my particular line of business, I have often been presented with a case (considerabaly more convincing than yours) that some individual is far superior to everyone else only to have the markets make a fool of him.  Humility can be a very attractive trait.
Here lies the biggest problem of all!! I was trying not to make this statement, so I'm glad you did it for me 8)
 6. This whole thread is just comical.. Ain't it funny how one person sees one way, while Everyone else sees it a different way? ;D
 7.
Ok i have to put my two cents in this thread...the thing you fans don't understand is that teams like nederland central etc isn't that good and Ozen is still heads above the rest they just don't have the coach to show it I'm willing to bet money that if Bouttee was to take over again next season Ozen would be back running 20-4A a problem I've always had with local area fans is that they seem to have tunnel vision when it comes to their teams and lose sight of being realistic...Do you guys honestly think Nederland has a chance to make it out of Region 3? Do you guys honestly think that any team in 20-4A is state championship contender? Heck no not even close and it will show in the playoffs...stop trying to say the reason Ozen isn't dominating is because the talent is spread all over Beaumont because it has always  been that way WB has had studs and Central has had STUD its just that when it came down to who had the better PROGRAM it wasn't even close Ozen isn't the same program because of the guy who took over the program its that simple and the proofs in the pudding...Think about it when was the last time Ozen won district outright? Under bouttee...Ozen first lost in history to central was under who? Saveat are you starting to see a trend here?
And you say other people have tunnel vision.. ::)
 8. Talent pool! You have to increase the amount of basketball kids and the skill level at an early age.. Nederland has a program for that.. He must think that if a coach of his "caliber" was still there, Ozen would still be dominating everyone.. That coach who established a culture in Beaumont basketball left for a reason.. He knew It's called CHANGE!! It happens out there! Just don't be too scared of it ;)
 9.
Seriously, have any of you guys seen Yates lately, they are not some super squad like everyone is saying.  I have seen them play and they are definitely beatable.  Yes Height is important, but not when you don't know how to use it.  The 4-5 6'7 players they have, all play outside, jacking up three's.  I am not saying Kountze is going to win, but Yates is not some unbeatable squad--stop it.  These are the same arguments everyone used a few years back when Kountze played Milby--Kountze lost by 6 to the #1 4A team in the state--closest anyone came all year.
No called them unbeatable.. ??? I guess some people are trying convince home-town people that they are at a different talent level.. Kountze is a great 2A team, no question.. Won't get an argument from me there
Then DON'T!  I can always find a reason not to agree with the arrogant - errrr - never mind.
He makes some points that I wish a few people would understand, but I can't stand someone who thinks WAY too highly of themselves.. Instead of confidence, he shows pure arrogance.. He wouldn't be as bad if he didn't throw his "so-called" accolades around on this forum..

N was pretty much unstoppable against a very good white oak team. N he's only a fish  ;D
White Oak! Okay-y-y-y-y-! Lets see, (a) Swift (quick & athletic @ 6'7 plays the point on a pressing defense....
Correction.. FREAK athlete ;D probably the highest I have seen a kid in high school get above the rim!
 12. ::) not worried about Nederland playing Kountze.. Fact is they don't play a regular season game.. But I can tell you they wouldn't be scared of Kountze As far as your "assumption" on people seeing these teams.. I can tell you the ones picking Yates by alot are the ones actually have seen them.. Not picking from paper I'm all for believing in your team, but c'mon man!!
 13.
I see alot of ppl on this site have no knowledge of basketball.  Dogs1218. I assure u the dawgs want none of them lions.  So if Kountze beats yates does this make kountze the best team 1A-4A CAUSE yates Still would be the best team in 4a right ?
Um... What?? And who are you again? Didn't know you were an exert  ::) First off, where did I ever say Nederland wanted Yates? Sorry I can take the glasses off and tell you down-to-earth information on the game. Don't get too offended that people seem to pick this "mediocre" Yates team over Kountze.. Geez.. Some people
 14. 68-50 Nederland Got a feeling Nederland doesn't mess around early, and cruises to the win.
 15. I say +20 for Yates.. But really depends on the level play in the third quarter as to how this game ends

No disrespect to Kountze because they are a great 2A basketball team, but this game shouldn't be competitive for longer than halftime. This is more valuable for Kountze than Yates. Play hard and use ALL of the game time here as a great warmup and challenge. This is a home game for Yates so no one get discouraged by the result
First of all, I don't think Houston Baptist is a "home" court for Yates. Second, I think you are selling Kountze a little short. I do not see this game as a blow out. Kountze will hang but they will have to hit the boards hard. As for Yates scheduling something better, well the pickings are slim being that 5A and 4A send 4 teams to playoffs and do not receive a bye. Getting the #1 2A team in the state is a pretty good get in my books.
This game is in the Houston area, aka a home game for Yates. When they have big games, they don't play in their tiny gym on campus, but rather at a different location.. I.e. Houston baptist As far as the final score and game, I will fully eat crow for that if Kountze does better, but I don't see it happening. I hope lots of locals get to go watch this game. Might be eye-opening :o

It is what it is. They won't pass up on these kids. Just because Dickie said he played soft is not a negative comment. I bet Dickie hears that a lot  among his cohorts about players. How about you let the other schools go recruit him since he doesn't fit "toughness" expectations.. ::) What a joke.. This kid is a flay out ball player. Contributes in every category. Dont judge him from a game where he plays against Justin Jackson.. In case you forgot, but I doubt with your vast knowledge you didn't, they play together during the summer.. They aren't going hard at each other because they dont have to for the high school season
You are not a very smart guy apparently, or you don't read very well, because I KNOW I said those guys were really good...Read the thread further back "smart guy" and you will SEE where I said there were playing whats called "brother in law" ball against each other...READ! 21.
The Tigers will have to beat Yates at their own game to pull off the upset.  We won't beat that height in a half court set.
That's my point.. Silsbee is a tough team to beat when they play that up-tempo style.. But matchin up with Yates, who wants that pace all game, might be disaster for Silsbee
 22.
If they face each other which will be in the quarterfinal I'll take Yates by 10-15 pts. If Silsbee can make Yates shoot from the outside they will have a good chance of pulling the upset. I think Silsbee will break their press easily and get some nice lay-ups on the back end. Silsbee will also need to dictate the flow of this game and pack the lane. They do that, they win, IMO.
What kind of flow would you like to see Silsbee establish for this game?
 23. That kid should be on varsity.. Wasting his time down at the freshman level..
