Pre-season Final Four Predictions

North Carolina will be much better this year. They got the best freshman in the nation, Harrison Barnes, to give them a true go-to scorer. They missed that last year. They could make a run too. But its WAY too early -

I dont know about you, but I saw a very good Ohio St. team play today on tv. Inside and out, they are solid. Duke is the team to beat though. -

Hope the Dogs come ready to play. They always seem to have trouble in the first game of the year. If they keep the mistakes at a minimum, I think Nederland should win this one. -
i just really don't think we're gonna be able to stay focused this year. i go to school with all these kids and they just don't have what it takes to repeat. just tryin to be real
He is just trying to make sure the guys dont come into the season too high on themselves and think that people are just going to let them win without earning it. I know all those guys too and I know that they will compete and play hard. Im just wondering about who in the program would comment like this. Just curious. -
Nederland wins on Homecoming night. Dogs are playing much better on both sides of the ball and should take care of Lumberton
remember that six varsity players were soph. that the nederland jv team basically went against the same freshman class that they faced this year. the juniors like david green didnt play. so this summer thing called basketball doesnt trully tell you what you have.
Those sophs of Nederland have been playing Varsity teams over the summer and really doing well. Most of those kids are going to be on JV getting ready to take over after this senior class graduates. Nederland has good squad with potential to be a good playoff team. 3 returning 1st team all district players in Forney, K-Smith, and Cunningham should have solid years to help the Dogs. -

Nederland at Dayton Tonight- What can we expect?
CThoops replied to bronco1's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Big Ned has their hands full. What a great look for a Nederland team loaded with seniors on offense and a younger defense that has been pretty impressive up to this point. People can say what they will about the importance of a scrimmage but this will really give Nederland a great measuring stick on where they are and what they need to concentrate on leading up to district play.
It is just a scrimmage but we will see how Nederland does defensively since that has been a bit of a disappointment in recent years. Dayton is really good, but i don't think Ned is going to let them win. They better come to play. -
Ozen's varsity beat Nederland's sophomores by one in summer league. Not saying they won't win district, but this is the weakest Ozen team in the history of the school.
Ozen isnt looking so great this year. They dont seem like the top notch Basketball team in the distrcit. Central and Nederland are the two best teams IMO.. And that game was just sumer league, but it showed that the JV team for Nederland will be pretty darn good. ;) -

Never thought I would see the day Ozen started counting summer league wins.
Aint that the truth.. lol But anyways, these summer league games just get the kids to stay playing some type of competitive bball instead of sit around. There are three good teams that so far have looked better than the rest, Nederland, Ozen, and Central, will compete for a district championship. -
Ok. This is all stupid. Let LeBron go where he wants. It is a business. But i dont think you people understand why Lebron made this a big deal on TV. If you people didnt read about it, all the money made off advertisement and sponsers during the hour long show were donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Seem like a good idea? I do. Next, Lebron wanted to make it a surprise to all teams and cities. Imagine if Lebron would have told any of those teams that they have no chance. Word would get out fast and those cities wouldnt even watch the event. He wanted the highest ratings and the most tvs watching as possible. The drama was a good way to do that. Now, what next for Lebron? Does he go from one the most idolized atheletes in the world to the most hated? Or do people get a grip with reality and let a grown man make his own desicions? I think all this talk about lebron is stupid. Let the man do what he wants in this business and move on.
We already knew he couldn't get it done on his. He tried for 7 years. But there is nothing wrong with that. Kobe, Shaq, and MJ couldn't do it without another great player either. He wants to win and did a coMpletely unselfish thing by joining the others and taking less money. Sorry Cleveland but you couldn't help him win and that's what he wanted and needed.
Exactly! People can act like Lebron did a bad thing by leaving, but lets just face it. He gave them 7 strong years and waited for the franchise to help him out, but the Cavs couldnt give him what he needed. He put this team in his backpack and carried them to the playoffs year after year. How many more 60 win seasons could this guy take before moving on? What about Kevin Garnet? Ray Allen? Paul Peirce? How long did they give their first teams before they moved on? Will they remembered as guys that screwed their original teams? Or as players who sacrificed to win a championship? Its about championships to these guys and Lebron is doing the same thing with Bosh. Best Move for Lebron and Bosh and I hope for the best.
-
3 Team Race now.. 1) Miami - with Bosh and Wade now committed, I think the best way to win a championship is here. Both Wade and Bosh have said they are willing to take less than the max in order to get LeBron and other role players to come join. 2) Cleveland - Home. Wants to win for the fans that love him. A lack of contending talent around him makes coming back home a tough choice. How many more 60 win seasons can he have and not get a ring? 3) New York - With Stoudamire and reports of using money to get a big time free agent next year as well, this is a very good spot to be in. LeBron likes the attention and all the cameras which is what he will get plenty of here. Chicago and New Jersey need to find other options now. Anybody think differently?
-
I will take a healthy Chris Paul over any point guard. Easy to forget the guy who had injury problems last season and couldnt show what he can do on the court. This guy puts up freakish PG numbers.
-
Paterson can jump. He gets rebounds like a man. He can step out and hit the 3 too. Solid pick.
-
Im not putting him ahead of other players from the past. Not at all. No one can truly argue for who is the best because it is all speculation. Just think about what Lebron brings almost every game he plays. Points, rebounds, assists, some steals, and a maybe a block too. He's not the best freethrow shooter but he can knock down the big ones when he needs to. He even guards the best player on the other team when that player starts getting hot. What more can you ask from a player? He makes everybody on his team better. Im not saying he is without a doubt better than every other player (except MJ) to be in the league, but I am saying dont ignore the facts and the numbers to support why he should be in the discussion.

The talent level of Lebron James would make him easily number two behind Jordan on anybody's list. But without a championship, there is no way he can be the best.
u are crazy if lebrons #2 hes not even top 10. #1. Jordan -----no doubt #2. majic and Larry -- they were 2 of the best ever #3. kareem and kobe ----these two just dominate
What Lebron does on the court makes him one of the best players ever. He puts up stats in every category. These other guys that are in the hall of fame are great and deserve to be on every lists. Im just saying that I dont think they contributed to every part of the game like Lebron is doing now and he still has alot of years left. JMO.
