The talent level of Lebron James would make him easily number two behind Jordan on anybody's list. But without a championship, there is no way he can be the best.

LA by 4. Boston should play much better tonight but Lakers and Kobe still win at home.
1. LCM 2. Ozen 3. Nederland 4. Central 5. Livingston 6. Vidor 7. Lumberton 8. PNG
You really think that or are just a true fan? Its great to pull for your team but there is no way they are better than Nederland, Central, and Ozen. -
Giddings vs. Pleasant Grove........PG wins 2-0 in 9 innings
CThoops replied to Lazeek's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
That was one of the best games played! Shame one of them had to lose. -
Nederland and PNG always seem to have young players to fill and help contend for a district championship every year. These should be the two top teams again but cant be sure about anthing this far away from another season. ;)

Have to play with more intensity! We havent looked too sharp lately with the sticks.. Have to be better. Dogs in 2 still -
Please refrain from making posts like that. Way too offensive to put on this board. Good way for you to get kicked off.

You think Bellaire has more talent than Yates? Want to explain?
Check any rating service. The talent on Bellaire this year was huge. That's one reason they were on track to a wire-to-wire 5A #1 in state ranking by nearly everyone who rates these things. No need to believe me, just do as I suggested in multiple prior -- and ignored except for name-calling -- posts: Check what the rating services say.......by the way, don't you think AcesFull or Tejas or one of the others would've looked it up by now and proved me wrong.......if I were wrong.
I don't know which rating service you were checking but I'm sure ESPN put Yates at #1.. I think that's the one that matters.. Yates had an unbeilveable press that could have and would have dismantled any high school basketball team, especially Bellaire that year.. Bellaire did not have more talent than Yates.. That is a fact.. Give that argument a rest.. Please.

NCAA on verge of 68-team tourney..APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!
CThoops replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
They should make a rule about the teams that they put in the opening round games. I say if you win your conference tournament, you shouldnt have to play in the play-in games. They deserve to not have to play a number 1 seed. Leave those spots for the at-large teams that are on the bubble. -

For her to let up would have been counterproductive to all of her YEARS of preparation. What's next? Should she only compete with men?
Just curious... Cant you apply this statement to Yates and Basketball? Of course without the "her" part. ;)

This is better than 96 teams. What kind of championship would it be if no matter how bad you do in the season, you still had a chance to win the whole thing in the end? 68 teams is perfect and I hope they dont expand anymore. -
You make it sound like Nederland never gets that many runs. I know thats a bold pick, I think Nederland get a few runs on hester and then put on the rest when Vidor takes him out. Bold pick, but I know its possible
-
The score of this game depends on if the Dogs feel like giving up a run or not ;) Vidor is good, but Nederland is way too hot right now. Pitching shutouts and hitting solid every game. Ned 9 Vid 0
-
I dont see Nederland having too much trouble here. But they still have to come out and play their game.
WOW! You have got some nerve!!! A BELOW average team. Again, Wow! I know everyone has a right to their own opinion and to post on this site but this is utterly ridiculous and uncalled for. You need to go back into your hole you crawled out of. Our parents, including the Hesters, respect our Coach. No matter what his decisions maybe. Last time I saw the baseball field, which was Friday night, there are nine positions in the field. That means, there are eight other players besides the pitcher. So if Hester is not pitching, and we have such a below average team, maybe we should just forfiet our games? I mean, what would be the chance in our boys winning a game with a below average team? Had it not been for our bats being flat, the out come of this game would have been very different. I have seen our team make errors on the field and still come back and take control of the ballgame. Last night, this did not happen. Kirby Bellow is an exceptional pitcher and was amazing on the mound. His slider works very well and there is not much more to say except that God has given him loads of talent. Congratulations Kirby on a job well done! And as for you and your poor choice of words eknights88, I am sure I will advise my son & his team mates to stay off of setxsports since there is no respect for the Vidor Pirates. These guys do not need your negativity or sarcasm impressed into their brain. They do not need to take the field and think of the crap that you have typed and said about their "below average" status. Congratulations Nederland on your win! You guys played well.
And by hard work. Most of this win is Kirby's. Great job and keep it up. The other part was Nederland not making costly errors like Vidor. Pitching and costly errors are some of, if not, the biggest parts of the game. Nederland was better this time. As for Vidor being below average, there is no way a team that was tied for first in district is below average. That is somewhat saying that Nederland and PNG are average. That is a bad comment. The real thing is they got beat by a better team, IMO.. -
Yates No. 1 in all five National Polls!

Big congrats to those kids! Misson Accomplished! Now we can move on to next season. -
No way!!They have10 or 11 consecutive NCAA tourney appearances. The early injuries doomed this club because they lost their leadership.Texas had some super individual players but need 5 balls because they never learned to play together.
That is the story of Texas's season right there. Poor chemistry for a team with as much talent and potential as these guys. Very disappointing second half of the season. And dont fire Rick Barnes. That would be terrible for the program. Get the kids ready to compete next year.

One more thing on my mind here. It was said somewhere in this discussion don't remember which thread or when that Yates was pouring it on for the national "title". I am one of the limited number of us southast texans who have driven to houston and watched Yates play. Yes it was only one game. What I saw was a team with some very good players who are great at what they do. However they looked vulnerable in a half court game. If they want this so called title, I feel they would need to be a team who excels in th complete game not just one facet of it. I have no problems with the players at all. What I have seen from them has not been negative in any way. To make themselves a truly great basketball team, I just feel they needed to be a more complete team, meaning in al facets of the game. They had plenty of chances to work on it. Why didn't they? They may well have the team that could have won state playing that style as well but it would not have been as easy for them. I do have to admit I am no Coach Wise fan. After seeing him continue his press with huge leads and hearing his interviews, I have the feeling like many others: He is all about Me. Yes he gives his players credit but I have yet to hear him give his opposition any. Maybe he has and I haven't seen it but not to my knowledge. So back to my question "Why hasn't Yates taken the opportunity to work on their half court game?" Maybe it is truly that Wise wants his team to know never to let up, but maybe it is also that he knows this is where he is vulnerable(not his team but himself as a coach). Maybe he is scared that it will be shown that his weakness is setting up an offense or defense in the half court and making the adjustments necessary to excel in the half court game. If so, he has failed himself this year as he had the perfect opportunity to work on his weakness.
Didn't Yates lose the last time they pulled the press? Why stop doing what you are good at? Why play the opposite style of what this group has practiced for years now? What Yates does as team makes sense to them. As for Wise, he is out to to make a name for himself and his team. Records, tropheys, and national buzz is what this team and this coach is out to get. Face it. Right or wrong by anyone's opinion. People to need to let it go about Yates. Just have fun watching a great team play basketball at a high level. Isn't that what the game is about? Playing hard to achieve excellence?
Thank you!! You just made my point. When you have a 88 point lead at half practice what you aren't good at. Make yourself even better.
I thought you might like that ;)
