The Texas Sun Devils opened up The 2010 WWBA 18u National Championship Tournament with an 8-1 victory over the Strike Zone Cardinals based out of New Mexico. Tuesday, June 29 Texas Sun Devils Open with strong 8-1 win 6/29/2010 10:28:44 AM The Texas Sun Devils (formally Southeast Texas Sun Devils) opened what is expected to be a strong drive to reach deep into the playoffs with a 8-1 win over the Strike Zone Cardinals.  Univeristy of Texas signee Kirby Bellow (2010) threw four strong innings to get the win.  Bellow struck out eight hitters and allowed one run while pitching at 86-88 mph with a sharp breaking mid 70's curveball.  Fellow 2010 grads RHP Mark Blackmar and Ryan Brady finished up with three scoreless innings, each pitching in the upper 80's as well. 2011 SS Jace Conrad and 2012 2B Gavin Cecchini led the offense, which scored twice in the fourth inning and six times in the fifth.  Each had two hits and an Rbi.  LF Trevin Sonnier also had two hits and an Rbi.
