  1. I agree BHfan, the JV actually outplayed PNG, Most of those players will now be playing on varsity....Their defense was very solid..
  2. I agree, I think the capacity needs to be increased. BH added about 250-300 extra seats last year with extra bleachers. Don't forget though BH was only added to 4A status 3 years ago.. Dayton just recently I believe in the last couple of years expanded their stadium and added turf. The PNG fans "did not" fill the visitors side......Its my understanding the stadium will be upgraded after the 2009 season.
  3. Why don't we put pink dresses and heels on them....Football will be played when it always has, summer 2 a days and fall football games.....If you can't hack it, go back inside to the xbox and Ac
  4. You're exactly right WOSgrad, and last years game was called due to Hurricane IKE. This year both schools agreed to try to find a game closer in proximity to the respective schools, otherwise a team would have had to stay overnight, hotel cost etc...BH has always tried to "play UP" or certainly class programs as far as Non- district competition..This year replacing Lonview is CY-Ranch, anew school ,but a 5A program. Obviously "hardcore" is clueless...Thanks for the clarification WOSgrad. I think PNG, Lumberton, and CY-Ranch are all class programs..There no gimmes here....
  5. C'mon AJ25, up until 2007-2008 seasons you guys were pretty much near the bottom of the pile every year. This season reality sets back in as ya'll tail off.....
  6. The raiders will have to travel to our house this year......BH will be ready!
  7. I'm hearing now that come 2-a-days the QB spot is wide open. They will be looking at as many as 5-6 kids, including Freshman, and 2 kids that split time on the JV from last years team. Apparently the coaches are wanting lots of competition.. Maybe the freshman kid has shot? That said, I still expect one of the senior boys to get the nod.
  8. BHthehill, Names, just curious, who they might be...Was McSwain a freshman last year..
  9. The BH new PressBox looks huge from the road and should be finished before school. The scoreboard from Ike was damaged, but guess we won't see a Jumbo-tron this year.
  10. I agree, I think both PNG and BH make the playoffs this year, a better year for both teams..Hey, PNG will be much better team under this coach..Offense will be much tougher to read...
  11. Yes, I saw him probably 2 weeks ago at the store...I'm 6' and I was looking up. Dave Campbells Texas football has him at 6'-1". He's grown in the last couple of months and probably will some more before he's thru. Good size kid, and very well mannered..I hope he has a great year whichever side of the ball he's on.
  12. Heard MCdonald and Viverette both shined in 7 on 7 yesterday....
  13. This is what High school football is all about. Two class programs both with rich traditions and history. Both have state championships in the trophy case, well coached... The kids will decide on Friday night August 28th, 2009 who gets off to good start, not us armchair Quarterbacks.. I can't wait to see ya'lls new stadium. I don't see a blowout either way...7 point spread or less on this one.... Lots of emotion and early season jitters to get out of the system. It'll be fun!
  14. I agree with SteelCurtain, McDonald should be the QB, Viverette will stay at corner. Will need another kid to play the other corner, and possibly a safety spot....Any idea who steelcurtain? Also any kids on JV that can step up and help on defense?
  15. Badndn, last time I checked the rule book, fumbles and muffed punts were still part of the game...Special teams miscues and fumbles caused by the BH defense popping those Indians is all part of the game. That said they still had to come form behind in the last couple of minutes to win, but to their credit they did what they had to do and won...Thats football..... Hope those boys have their chin straps tight....BH will be ready!
  16. Thanks for the info Bronco1......I'll make a note of that...Man your fast!
  17. I'm telling you BH spoils the opener in the "New Reservation" this year. Payback for last yerars come from behind win by PNG... lol.. It should be a good one..Who'll be taking snaps for PNG this year? Another question, I'll be there, but I do know some folks that can't make it due to work schedules that may try and pick up the game via radio that live between Mont Belvieu and Beaumont, aren't most of PNG games broadcast on the radio?
  18. Jaggart , just curious how big would you say the Townley kid is, I just saw Viverette the other day, he's about 6-2" 175, I'd say, definitely gotten taller..He's a good sized kid, and very quick...and theres no guarantee that he'll be the QB either, they really like him on Defense, but lets not forget it'll take team effort by "ALL" of the kids to have good season, there won't be a "One Man" show regardless of who's under center. Lets not forget about the MCdonald kid, hes worked hard and is very smart, may lack size, but he's a got a great arm and touch on the ball...GO BH
  19. You did say Texas A&M camp right....lol...Last time I checked these guys need to spend more time evaluating their own talent..
  20. I guess we can agree to disagree on this one. Chris Daniels was huge is freshman year, mush bigger than his classmates as far as skilled athletes go., and his arm strength was super. He didn't even get close to starting a varsity game until the end of the season and then only after the games was well in hand. He stopped growing about his Junior year and other kids finally caught up with him, but he was super athlete. Very few 4A and 5A programs ever start a freshman QB and this year won't be any different for BH. I'll be shocked if this freshman even sees varsity uniform until near the end of the year. That said, I wish him the best of luck in the future, he's obviously a great kid and athlete, and BH can use him in the future.
  21. Because IMO and I believe the coaches will see it the same way, he simply won't be ready for varsity QB job. The Daniels kid was every bit as athletic and had the size. He was huge as freshman and he didn't start. This kids day will come but it won't be this year, the kids ahead of him are better prepared so he needs to work hard, listen and enjoy this year on JV. Also BH hasn't had dominant running back in a number of years. Thats had alot to do with the lack of successs the last couple of years. BH coaches aren't going to hand the reins over to this kid or any other. He'll have to earn it.
  22. I forgot about Coach Skidmore, not familiar with the other two guys. The Daniels kid, unfortunately lost a scholarship opportunity to Rice after knee during his senior season at BH injury and coaching change there. He then tried to walk on at Army and made the team, but kept having heat related problems and dropped out of football. He was a super athlete for BH and a well mannered "yes sir" kid. The bottom line becoming a "D1" player takes lots of hard work and some luck. Everything has to fall into place.
  23. I agree Ranger83, there just alot of pieces that have to come together. These kids that take snaps on Friday night are under a huge amount of pressure. The QB has to know what everybody's doing. You should have seen the playbook my son brought home when he used to Quarterback , (super thick), believe me once you've seen what they go through, I '"never" second guess these kids anymore, their doing the best they can. And Believe me the coaches see these kids all day and for the most part do a good job of evaluating talent, but don't always see the things the same way we do as parents. I believe the only D1 player to come out of BH has been Gordon Speer.. Maybe I'm missing somebody. Anyway I wish whoever gets the nod the best of luck this year and in the future. Hey it's their game, not ours! PS:All the kids are busting their rears from the lineman,to the Defensive backs, Quarteback gets way to much credit and also way to much criticism. Go BH...
  24. Preston Townley is a good kid, very talented and his time will come, but its a huge step going from the 8th grade in my opinion and all the sudden being thrown in to the starting QB role at age 15. He needs at least a half season on Jv IMO just to get accustomed to the diffence in the quality of talent he'll be facing. Most all of the kids that are playing on Friday night are strong, quick, and talented or they wouldn't be starting. The Mcdonald kid at BH has an arm, just not alot of size. IMO either him or Viverette will be taking snaps on Friday night. His time will come after he's paid his dues. And by the way, most of the kids at BH are "yes sir" kids....
  25. I would think Viverette will be looked at hard. He is avery good athlete, anchored the Defense last year, so that would be a loss on defense if they make that switch. The McDonald kid that backed up Carmona last year has really good arm, just not that big. Also couple kids coming up from JV that could challenge, can't remember their names..
