(sorry 10-1-2009 Headline) WB's bye week...QB Bruce Reyes Jr's mother gives birth to 7lb, 19 in. long baby girl...in time for district play!! Seriously, 6:13 am this morning!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I was a sophmore starting qb in a inner city 5A High School in Houston....I wasn't a bad athlete, football season finished, I wanted to play basketball. I showed up for try outs and the coach walked over to me and said, " Reyes, how many Mexicans do you see in the NBA?" I looked him square in the eyes and said, "your right coach"...I walked off the floor. I continued to play for church leagues and in the street with my fellow "Mexicans"...two years later, I was a senior...we had a "lock up" at our school. There was a basketball tournament, of course the basketball team stuck together. Well, here comes little Reyes with his fellow "non NBA future Mexicans". We whipped the shizzle out of every team including the basketball team by 20 points....I won the free throw contest, went 10 for 10 in every round...and won the 3 point contest....Don't judge a book by it's cover. :D Later in the Marine Corps I encountered something very similar....I had played my last year of football and decided to try out for the basketball team(my body was talking to me)...Well, here we go again...so I thought, this time the coach gave me a spot... on the bench. The average age was 19-20 yrs old, almost everyone was 6'2 or taller(I'm 5'10 on high heels). I rode the bench for 6 games, practiced hard, and did everything I was asked. Some of the kids on the team called me Grandpa. Anyway, we're getting our but kicked at half time...coach(our 64 yr old Colonel) leans over and says Reyes your playing the 3rd Qtr....I come off the bench and score 18 points in the 3rd quarter...he benched me in the fourth and I walked out. ;D ;D Some people are afraid of change....how hard was it back in the day to let blacks play football and basketball?? What this Country needs is to realize that color does not matter....THE LAND OF THE FREE HOME OF THE BRAVE....not land of the black and some white, with a lil brown and yellow... 9/11 changed our view of racism and united us....They boys from Central and the boys from Ozen that know me....respect me, because I respect them...as young men. That's where the generation before us was wrong... :o I will always crack jokes about any race(including my own), but I do it in there face...so they can can see my expression and know it's ok to talk mess...we live in a different time...Are we ready to move on?? 8) 8)

Thanks, Rey. But you know what? If yall would have beaten Ike, yall would have been a lot higher. Everybody knew it was a tall order to beat Westfield and The Champs. Wouldn't have held that against yall. Either one of them would blow through any of the big schools around here... I guess you have to be at some of the games to understand the atmosphere that playing Katy brings to the field....It really seems like your at A & M, or UT when they play.....there crowd brings a noise that we could possibly bring to our teams here in Beaumont....I just don't know if everyone would flow together. Example: The new stadium is getting ready to be built....WB, Cent, OZ will be occupying the field on different nights(except when we play each other). I say ALL of Beaumont needs to be out there supporting the local teams. PACK the stands, cheer for your defense on 3rd down, cheer for your offense on first down!! When our Teams play agains each other you cheer for your team....in order to compete with these power houses the fans have to come out and support as a whole...

With Westbrook's tuff pre-season over, how do you feel the team has performed offensively/defensively and where do you see them in district and beyond?

You would be a fool to assume an outcome based on common oponents. Anything can happen on a football field...preparation & execution....this involves all aspects...Coaching:mental prep, physical prep, and execution of game plans(adjustments). Players: Preparation via repetitions(quality of reps), mental preparation(focus and execution) and physical preparation(hydration, diet & sleep)...it's difficult for a coach to control all those things with a team....that's where the word committment is followed thru...it doesn't stop after practice...you go home with it(follow your plan & execute), then you wake up with it(follow your plan & execute)...good teams work hard, great teams work harder, the best teams....they have this committment from every player..... this is a registered messege, any unauthorized use of this messege with out the proper written authorization of Sgt Rey will be subject to prosecution under the uniform code of Sgt's Justice kjsadhiuaibvug34pqiuf jrthufhbif3p fuhhrf qhf u fqfuqhy3p9f..... :D ;D that one's free!!!

That's what I mean....it's difficult to measure apples to apples...unless you look at stats to determine the best qb in week 4. PA's qb's they tackled some tough competion too...don't know what they did against the Woodlands. Where did you pull his stats?

This is difficult to measure......do you utilize stats....or the caliber of defenses a qb has faced....then again it doest matter right now....I say Reyes....(not being biased).. :D ;D 8)

I agree..I don't think they've been on the field with a crowd so loud...but they adjusted...I asked him what happened on the first pick...he said the receiver broke his route late...they ran the same play later in the game, it was our only TD....

They left their 1st Team in the whole game and let the 2nd Team run the clock out....We had a lot of chance to make the big plays....it just didn't work out....Our staff planned a great game, again mental mistakes on defense, not very many penalties, and several dropped balls....the int's didn't help either...
