Mike Venson made a couple of nice runs.
was that #30?..if it was, he stood out a lil more than others.
Who were the other guys on the field with Junior last night? I also thought Prewitt looked good--he's made it clear someone is going to have to take the job from him. That can't be anything but healthy. I'm cheering for whoever's in the game.
Justin Brock, signed with LAMAR, WB Reggie Bengleton WR, WB, preferred walk on Justin Jackson FS, WB undecided and Im with you, I will be cheering for Lamar come the fall, who ever the starter is.... ;)

Do the players look like they are understanding the offensive and defensive schemes better? These are the things that will make the real difference next year.
I wish someone who saw the game would give their opinion on this!
O-Line/Dline looked pretty solid for being separated...Once they find a first team, Im sure it will be solid. DB's Corners did an outstanding job IMO...#24 was a good cover corner and tackler...Safety wise, Garrett made some big plays as always and expect more from him in the fall....LB's I'm not sure on...there was a little guy making plays all over the field for the white defense..#42 I think...he must have had 7-10 tackles(or assisted)..

The Cardinals are getting a great athlete and super leader. Hopefully, he'll be a proud alum one day! If you just look at the stats JJ had the better game but Bevil made two rushing TD's. I say they still don't know who the starting QB will be once fall gets here.
I guess I see the game a bit different...the throws outside were good...the ones over the middle were the one I saw floating a bit, were Prewit was throwing darts inside, out and on the run...JJ has the speed no doubt, but Prewit was no turtle either...I guess you'd have to get creative as an OC....#11 looked ok too. Jr will come in and compete for the safety position...they said, not that he couldn't compete at QB, but it's what the team needs right now and they feel he can help...I'd love for him to get back on that side of the ball....and instead of receiving those hard shots from DL-men and blitzing LB's...he may be able to deliver some shots this fall!
Rey it is obvious that JJ will never impress you and you know why. It has alot to do with your son's junior year and JJ's senior year. They both were finalists for the Willy Ray Smith Award and JJ won. let it go. You saw the same game everyone saw. You know there were not any floaters across the middle and there are not any perfect plays when the lights are on. Kids are taught to just make a play. Whoever is starting QB, it will be hard to keep JJ off the field, when he is obviously one of the best players on the team. Keep it real man. Your son will do well on the college level. You don't have to hold a grudge against JJ.
No grudges here, last night was the first time I saw JJ play(and all the other QB's). He looks faster in person than the highlights I saw of him on video...I call it how I see it.....As for the WRS award from a year ago, it's been done and over with :D...we actually just had another one a couple of weeks ago....and Jr didn't win it again...we were happy for his accomplishments in High School, at the most competitive level in Texas...sooo what's ur point...I like the little guy...came from nowhere and I felt he looked better.....
I said what I said and that was my point. I am greatful that other people are making the personel choices, and not you or me. Have a great day. I'm done withthis post.
I would have done anything different than what has been done at Lamar....maybe look at Garrett at some running back...but that's about it...have a good day and see you in the stands... ;D

Jr was invited to the scrimmage and after, was invited as a preferred walk on...he will be attending Lamar in the summer.
Will Jr have access to the weight and training room and working out with team this spring and summer. I would think that woud be a huge benefit to him.
Jr(and Chris) are already in 3 - a days for 4 days a week, 3 days off....5:30 am with me, after school with powerlifting team(he's going to regionals), and evenings are for agility and Db drills(Chris lifts again).
Sad But true..If your not the Idel height for you position, most colleges will overlook you for that player they can build on the 6'4 skinny player, that isnt as good as you but Looks the part.. And its sad cause some of your better players are small, ecspeicaly at Central..This season was a big dissapointment, with the players going to college..We had so much talent but only 3 players sign..I asked the coach why, and he said because the college coaches think small players cant take the pounding every day a bigger player can..ARE YOU SERIOUS, but hey thats just the way it is now and days
This phase will come full circle...the midgets will prevail!!! ;D -
I think it should be a good game. All I hear is if West Brook would move a couple of people around to key positions that can make plays and keep errors down they would be ok.
Some athletes don't play because of that...I know of two that could start! -

He is too talented to stop playing after HS in my opinion.
The way he's going it wouldn't surprise me if he was moved to running back....squated 575lbs Saturday...he tried to drop weight to lift with the 181 lbs class (weighed in at 187 lbs)...got 1st place in the 198 lbs class...by the fall he'll be near 200 lbs.

What is you connection with LU? Is Bruce thinking of coming to Lamar? I think he would be a great addititon to the Cardinal program as he is a very talented athlete and obviously has leadership skills. A couple of people were asking what Bruce's plans for college were so I thought I'd go ahead and ask point blank. Forgive me, if you take it as being rude. I and a few others were just wondering about your son's future plans.
I have no connection...I attended Lamar before going in to the Marine Corps....Lamar was talking about offering Jr last Spring...but it didn't happen.......I understand it is difficult to entertain 6 QB's on a roster....he would love to walk on, but doesn't seem to be in the radar for even that... One coach told me that it's a risk going after Jr...because they do not know if he will perform at the same level as he did in HS.....you know what? THE ENTIRE WB DEFENSE WILL BE PLAYING COLLEGE FOOTBALL SOMEWHERE(the last one committed yesterday to UT)....you can say he has been practicing against college level talent for 2 yrs....yeah he's "Fivey" (5' 11").... Bruce's Sophomore yr in HS he was asked to play WR....to this day, I think he could have come on to the scene a bit earlier...I think he could have challenged for the QB spot as a sophomore! just my opinion...Deja VU? Jr has a couple of offers from D2 schools, D3 (academic), Jr College, NAIA...(All want him as a QB)..but he wants to wait til after Lamar's Spring Game to see if they would take him as a "Considered Walk On"...but If they don't want him, he doesn't want to force the issue(try out with out being considered)...I don't think they would give him an opportunity to compete...DEJA VU...again... 8)
Rey, sounds to me like the best option would be to go the JuCo route in the hopes you can catch a few eyes. To my knowledge, you don't see a lot of outstanding DII talent moving up to DI. What I see around this area is DI talent going to a JuCo, transferring to DI, and then if issues come up, going down to DII. I think if he can shine at a JuCo somewhere, then he'll get a call in two years to try out somewhere. Best of luck to your son!
That is not out of the question...and Jr will make the best choice that fits him.

He'll have a good college career IMO.
I can agree with that. His size speed combo should afford him a chance to play somewhere on the field. As I have said before he could be like the Phillips kid from Waller several years back that played QB in HS, but switched to LB at TCU and had a very good career.
