About Coaches Perspective

  1. My heart goes out to the family, will be praying for the family and community.
  2. I remember Bartlet was a power house, Service High, East high, oh and how is the ACS team doing?
  3. Cussing is a sign of disrespect and I know the coaches wouldn't stand for a student to speak to them with foul language. If anyone were to see themselves on video cussing at someone they would just see how needless it is. A coach can get someone's attention without Cussing. Ben
  4. WOS Silsbee K-ville it will look alot like this year.
  5. Knowing all that is in the original post just makes you wonder how beneficial this forum is for the communities of SETX. I could prove to be more devisive. I'd just as soon talk to someone while filling up the gas tank or at the grocery store than sit by my self and read a computer screen and attempt to ledgeably reply to a post.
  6. There are very few places in our great country that revere the sport of football (or any high school activitie for that matter) as does Texas. I have lived in 7 states outside of Texas in the span of my 42 years and have witnessed school districts in Maine that have considered cutting the sport from the school systems due to liberal thinking that it will make violent felons in the future. They also stated they should cut it for fiscal reasons, Maine is also a basketball state. Oregon, Washington, South Carolina, California all have schools that are good, but the communities as a whole do not seem to embrace high school activities like Tejas. You could probably attribute it to the size of the communities that have numerous high schools in the areas, ah who knows. I am a big fan of the Jenks, OK community. Ben
  7. Will this shut kville balla up :?:
  8. Last year (2005) WOS (I believe) post poned their homecoming game specificially for an undefeated BC team to give themselves more incentive to play and ultimately win the district championship by another close margin game. The prior year (2004) these two teams went into OT and coach Hooks knew from that experience he would have to give his boys all the incentive they could muster to win.
  9. I made a road trip go Jasper this summer while there I asked a couple of youngmen who were on the FB team how they were looking for this season and they stated then that this would be an experience year for them. A lot of seniors graduated off the team and they have a real young team.
  10. Baddog, you are on the mark with the loss of rights to protect us from ourselves (which became quite popular in the 1990s), but as stated by another responder the kids adult influences either don't care or have bought into the hype of athletic enhancers. If anyone has children that want to make it to the next level in any sport I strongly encourage they integrate the NEW POWER PROGRAM by Dr. Michael Colgan of the COLGAN INSTITUTE. This guy has studied over 20 years on exercise physiology and 30+ years in Optimum nutrition and has work with premier Olympic, Body Builders, Football, etc. athletes of the world. No artificial enhancers just honest hard work and healthy lifestyle. In defense of bombing the other countries product fields, half the Americans presently don't want to defend themselves against terrorism what makes you think they want to stop the flow of recreational chemicals, after all they are the reason there are illegal drug flow to start with. The end user, not he pusher, or the grower, the user.
  11. Having played at the high school and college level, later coached at the HS level and now having a son as a player in HS I have realized with these experiences that our culture allows and below the surface promotes this sort of thing to happen. In addition to the expense for checking for athletic enhancing drugs/dopes, the primary reason our young student athletes to even consider this self-damaging avenue of instant gratifying performance is pressure to play and play well for their coaches, parents, peers and community. Some peers/players and adults have bought into the idea these assisting drugs won't hurt for their short HS career. BS!! These drugs are as illegal as recreational chemicals for the same biologically damaging reasons. Our players today even with contracts to the school and team continue to us steriods/dope because unless caught by the police, their parents and school district staff will not punish them if the are a pivotal player for the team. First of all the parents think this will be embarrassing for the family so they will not report their childs poor judgement/actions. Second the school district pays the Coach to win games and the community will not stand for a loss or losing season for an obvious lesson needed to be learned by the young students to give them a little more self-esteem and faith in themselves that they can do with out these artificial enhancers.
