In a 4a and 3a dominated region, PAM doesn't get enough face or talk time and they definitely don't get enough respect. I teach many of the football players and most have as much heart and love for the game as the kids from the 'football' schools . I believe in Harrison and have seen a difference in the kids since he started his program and with his coaches I think they are doing a great job. and i love articles by Haliburton

I know that we have already had a big discussion in another thread about whether or not its just a game or if there are life lessons attached to it....I believe the latter and really have to wonder if these kids appreciate the discussion they have caused with this issue. Everyone on the team (and their family)makes some sort of sacrifice to play-be it time, effort or whatever and also to be in drill or cheer teams, but these girls (and /or their parents) obviously missed the part of TEAM.

just curious....IF these girls are allowed to stay on the team.....what happens the next Friday or when WOS football has a big rivalry game or something...it's obvious where the girls (or their parents) want to be ....why pull this for this game??

I , too, don't know the numbers for the spectators, but, what was amazing to me was that it was a home game for Newton and the home stands weren't full, but it was about an hour drive for OF and the OF stands were full....I am not saying anything against Newton, all I am saying is that it speaks to OF's dedication of its fans. I was also surprised to learn of how many of the people in the stands didn't have players in the team but just came to support them. I love Nederland football, but I have never driven an hour for a non-district game just to watch the team.....now play-offs are different ;D

Hey setxgal, it was nice meeting you at the Tarkington game. I always have extra tickets for home games, so you and that reporter guy can sit with us whenever. Now if he wears that shirt again I may make him pay for his seat or go to the pressbox. thanks so much, and it was great to meet you too.....and I will tell him(but i don't think it will do any good )

I am a new Orangefield fan! I am so impressed with the downhome spirit and the way the team never gives up even at the last play. Newton was a beast, but someone forgot to tell OF that! I know everyone says their team plays 'with heart' but there is a reason the crowd chants "WE BELIEVE" ...they truly do. There are so many fans that fill the stands that don't even have kids playing. They are there to support their hometown team. Good Luck to OF and other teams......watch out!

I teach at the high school level and some kids don't know about true sportsmanship or respect. I think it is just fine at the high school level to continue emphasizing these. This way, those who haven't gotten it yet, and are lucky enough to have role models such as the coaches and maybe other players, can still learn the importance of sportsmanship and respect(on and off the field)
