Would you support a metal bat ban?
The Voice replied to bronco1's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
My sons juco team used wood this fall. They couldnot compete with the teams that used alumn. bats. A pitcher can jam you if your using wood and result in a ground ball or a pop up, with alumn. bats those jam shots are base hits. My son is a pitcher, we like the wood. As far as batters, you seperate the men from the boys with wood. The price, lets see, a set of 24" rims for your kids truck will run you about 25 to 30 nice maple bats. -
Vidor vs. Nederland Predictions?
The Voice replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Vidor 4-3. Vidor is swinging it pretty good. But watch the dogs, they bite. -
This should be a good one if LCM keeps errors down and and puts the pressure on with the bats. LCM 5-4

Well put. I would rather my kid throw his arm off than to melt his mind on the junk they have on tv.

As far as the best of the best, no, i agree that there is some talent out there that can't afford it or don't have the time to commit to it, some teams don't have any fees. They have big sponsors, paid coaches, paid travel, paid hotels paid uniforms. But there is a cost. How about playing over 100 games a year. It's big time ball for young men and women. No vacations, no fishing trips ect......... you have to eat, sleep and poop baseball, it's not for everyone. Good luck.

In baseball there are levels of select ball. All depending on how many games you play and how many of those games you win or lose. (A,AA,AAA and Majors)All levels have a rating system on wins, losses, points scored ,the strength of the teams you play. The more games and tourneyments you win against ranked teams the faster your rankings climb. Yes, it cost money. Teams get sponsors or have fundraisers. Cost vary depending on how serious you get. Bottom line is, playing against the best makes your child better. It's not for all kids. Playing at that level is tough. It's no more "good try Jhonny" baseball anymore, the demands are greater. Select is good for the youth (not the parent's) that want to play at the next levels.

I got peoples! ;D -
I just caved in and went to the site. OK, The best hitting instructor in the area is................................................. the one that can get you to hit. An old coach told me you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. I think they all do a great job,the key is to find the one that get's you to drink and stick with it.

4A Standings? How Does This District Pan Out?

District is wide open. Preperation this winter will be a big factor. -
Who are the key players on this squad?
-
Not a clue.
-
They could have a more productive practice if they had a better practice facility(PE gym). That floor is going to get someone hurt.
-
John,I prefer Gatorade over water.
-
You have to be politically correct these days.
-
I heard BC was getting a new hydration specialist.
-
John, you must really crowd the plate, I get the impression you've been beaned a few times.
-
It's better a fool to remain silent than to speak and remove all doubt.

When did this coaching change take place?

Select ball is a great thing for young men trying to get to that next level. The biggest thing select ball did for my son was to make him mentaly tough. It's sweet and sour, a young man that is at the top of his game at one level, gets to another team (select) that everyone is at the top of their game, they step up or step out. It's not for everyone. When they get in college it's the same way. Parents, your son may get some splinters in his butt, and thats when you get involved and show him how to pull them out. AkA- hard work, encouragement.... Don't pull the splinters out for him! Parent's, don't just drop your kid off and assume that he is in good hands. Be involved. You are the CEO of your son. A select program and a high school program are not the same. When your son get's in high school he should conform to that program. Bringing the skills from select and blending them into your high school program. Select ball is great for SETX. Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water! Just my opinion.
