Does anyone have any information as to where some of the Dayton kids might be going? I know Hill is to go to SFA, what about Franks and Ploch? Others?

crosby drops game with vidor

Crosby should give a reason for dropping Vidor from the schedule. This is why I like watching Crosby lose. -

Brenham fan makes good points, however, you forgot to call the fan base names or get into all the ways that crosby sucks. In all honesty, I'm a little disappointed. -
easy there buckin bronco...I haven't seen a post from crosby in a while. Maybe they have accepted the inevitable and are waiting the customary ten year period before they sound off again.

Question: If crosby were able to field their all decade team against the average dayton team for the next ten years, do you think they would be able to win half of the games? -

Come on diamond j 28 -0. How could you forget? Oh yeah, 2009 crosby 28-0, 2008 Dayton 49-14, 2007 Dayton 49-7, 2006 Dayton 35-0, 2005 Dayton 21-3, 2004 Dayton 36-17, 2003 Dayton 35-20, 2002 Dayton 49-14, 2001 Dayton 31-0, 2000 Dayton 10-7, 1999 Crosby 31-21, 1998 Dayton 35-14 Now I see. 371 to 165 over a 12 year period. I do see a trend developing. -
Very good points, however, it seems that the same teams are making deep runs into the playoff each year. Out of the 400 plus high school football programs in the state, it seems that an upper echelon of schools emerge each year. In essence, roughly seven to ten percent of the programs in the state are consistent winners. I know that this is due in large part to the athletes at the school, but it would seem that more than anything else, it would be the program that these athletes are in that yield this consistency. Case in point, Angleton gets defeated by Brenham. I watched that game and Angleton had superior athletes by far, however, Brenham was better coached and I would think that they had a better program. I guess the acid test here would be to examine how many kids a coach has been able to place in a D2 program as opposed to a D1 program. The thought being that they were able to develop kids with lesser genetic backgrounds and coach them up into a collegiate program.

I think that in the case of most of the programs who consistently make deep runs into the playoffs, it is more of a case of good coaching. I know that it is very seldom that you see a state champion without d-1 talent, but typically the upper echelon coaches are creating collegiate athletes. In a lot of cases, the talent level is very similar, but the coaching is what will put a program or player over the top.

1. One (CROSBY) who attempts to equal or surpass another (DAYTON), or who pursues the same object as another; a competitor. 2. One (NOT CROSBY) that equals or almost equals another (DAYTON) in a particular respect So, by your definition, the game is a rivalry for Crosby and not Dayton.

Read an earlier post that intimated that crosby has had more players playing college ball than dayton. It would be interesting if we could come up with a definitive list of each schools players who advanced to the next level in football over the past 15 or 20 years. Also, it would make the dude very happy if this thread was still going when Dayton and Crosby play next year. -

Wow, Crosby has been suffering from a case of Dayton envy for almost 60 years. No wonder they whine so much. It must be coded into their DNA. -

nope. I shook the magic eight ball and it said "Crosby's next win over Dayton will come in 2021". Sorry, for you and your team, but the magic eight ball tells no lies. -
Who Will Be The Next Barbers Hill HC?
the_dude_abides replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
If i were running the show over there, I would target the OC at Friendswood, Brenham, Dayton, or maybe take a shot in the dark at some of the guys with usual state contenders like Lake Travis or Katy. But from the way this sounds, this isn't going to be a hire based solely on football. -

Don't really keep up with second tier sports, I have too much fun hearing crosby fans lament their decade of defeat to the broncos. -

You live in texas, nobody cares how good your girls track team is or whether or not your coed softball team has talent. The radioactive chemicals at the superfund site in barrett must have leaked into your water. -

the_dude_abides replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think one of the safeties is 3 or 4 in his class. Smart kid. Do you think Barbers Hill will look to bring in a big name, not sure who is available, or maybe poach an OC from a nearby school with a good program. Seems like it would be a pretty tough gig on the hill if the A.D. doesnt have carte blanche. Too many cooks in the kitchen tend to spoil the stew and make an average football team. -

Looking at those numbers I now see why the crosby fans are so jealous of Dayton. If I lived in Crosby and I had a son that looked like he might become a player one day, I would move to Dayton before his seventh grade year so he could be a part of real program and reach his full potential.
