  1. The sportsmanship issues is why I call La Marque the Miami Hurricanes of high school football, they will beat you and they will have alot of fun doing it, almost to much !!!   From a Nederland fan, all the way La Marque
  2. Nederland didn't help themselves as much as I would have thought, they should have made Silsbee play the early game against Westbrook @ 1:30 and have to come back @ 7:30 and play again. Going to be tough to beat Westbrook and then come back 5 hours later and beat a rested, very tallented Silsbee team.
  3. Friday Nederland vs Westbrook @ 1:30 will be broadcast and friday night Nederland vs Silsbee 7:30.
  4. Silsbee beat FW Brewer 90-28, ouch. Nederland -WOS up next
  5. Wow, kinda feel bad for Fort Worth, maybe the rest of the tournament won't be as bad
  6. Looks like people aren't giving Ball enough credit.
  7. PNG's runningbacks coach is as home grown as they come, is he not as good as some of the coach Fairclothe's imports.
  8. Thanks WOSgrad, I thought that was it, pass through there a few times in those hurricane years, its 20 miles from anywhere thats for sure. There is also a Big Sandy up around the I-20 area, about 80 miles east of Dallas.
  9. where is Big Sandy, do they play football and baseball, what class, just curious
  10.   Hood ran mainly under center, no spread, they used multiple sets, alot of "I" and 3 and 4 reciever sets, good running game, good passing game and solid defense.  Like PNG this year, that group lost 3 games by 8 pionts, 32-30 @ WOS, 33-30 OT @ Friendswood and 40-37 @ Ozen and should have won all 3 games, just couldn't catch a break. That was my favorite bunch, Dustin, Micah, Ryan Butler, Darin Smith, Big Ron Mohica, Cody Deitz, if I remember right we were 1st in offense and defense that year. Great memories
  11. Anyone know the matchups and times for the 2nd round games of the tournament
  12. That's 15 players for Central 1st team all district, they were good , but not that good
  13.   2004 we where co champs but would have advanced to the playoffs if only one team went. 2003 was the year png beat ozen and put nederland into the playoffs with the win.
  14. 46 offensive players named 1st and 2nd team all district , 33 players named 1st and 2nd team on defense + mvp's , that's 1st,2nd 3rd and 4th string, not to many people were left out
  15. Gonzales should have been 1st team offense, Sonnier should have been MVP , because of what the old ball coach stated, kid played wr,qb, rb. db and every team had to account Trevin, where ever he lined up, I'm not sure anyone else from Nederland did enough to make all district, it was a collective effort with everyone doing a little bit to help, but with out Trevin I don't think Nedeland finishes above 6th much less made the playoffs, that's what the MVP is for, who did the most to get his team to the post season. It is a little puzzling that the COY and the MVP were home in week 11, kind of means somebody else might have done a better job.
  16. I agree Jake, it's not that hard to take a snap under center even if you are in the shotgun 99% of the time, practice it a few times and I guaranty 17-18 year old kids can do it. I know Southlake Carroll made the spread the greatest offense ever, but it's not for everyone, apparantly they had a ton of tallent because they have college and pro players everywhere, we don't. We use to go toe to toe with anyone in region 3, the only thing different from then is the spread offense, I'm not saying we need to run the "WingT", our old "I" and split backfields did great and we had one of the best passing games around, great QB's that stayed healthy and we where balanced on offense, I like the the old offensive philosiphy that you run the ball 60% of the time, but get 60% of your yards passing and your TE was key in getting 1st downs off of play action passes, this worked for the cowboys in the early 90's and it still works today.
  17.   Nederland has had a ton of injuries at key spots, QB mainly, and our staff has overcome these and still made the playoffs, that being said, i think we should go back to a multiple formation offense with TE's and a power running game to go along with our passing game, I think the spread is good if you have a ton of speed, which we don't have, so let's go back to traps and miss direction play's and play action passing and fit our offense to our personel instead of trying to make our personel fit the spread, we're not out running anyone on jet sweeps and bubble screens. Our defense needs a little more time of possesion from our offense.
  18. Last time I checked there where 11 positions on offense and 11 on defense, that's the # of 1st team and 2nd team players there should be, having 23 1st team offensive people is rediculous. I also think once you've been chosen to a spot that should be it and consider other players for the other spots. Sonnier from Nederland was easily the MVP of the district and not 1st team WR, that's meant as a compliment to Trevin not a gripe, has was the most valuable player in the district, Gonzales should have been 1st team QB. As for Nelson from PNG, the stats don't lie, he should have been 1st team, I just don't think we need 5 WR's on 1st team, 2 or 3 at the most, I think it takes away from what the better players did when you water it down this much, might as well give out participation ribbons like the elementary track meets do. Coach of the year was debatable, Coach Crouch was deserving as where 2 or 3 others, I think it shows the respect the other coaches have for Coach Crouch that he was chosen, even though he didn't make the playoffs he did an outstanding job.
  19. Done. Goodluck to Mr. Dobbins
  20. I miss Nederland playing LaMarque, 4 times in 02 and 03, even though we lost , they were fun to play. They where the old Miami Hurricanes of high school football, cocky and confident, but there was alway's mutual respect between players and fans. This should be a good game between Dayton and LaMarque, glad to see LaMarque back in the hunt.
  21.     I noticed that district 24-4A has 4 teams playing this weekend and if they all win it will be an all 24-4A region finals in both divisions. D1: 17-4A(Montgomery) vs 24-4A(Dawson)       18-4A(Humble) vs 24-4A(Friendswood) D2: 19-4A(Dayton) vs 24-4A(LaMarque)       20-4A(PNG) vs 24-4A(Manvel)     That's a pretty good accomplishment, I know they play Houston in the 2nd round but still pretty good.  I wish 20-4A and 24-4A could have a district match up in preseason, I know it won't happen but that would be neat to see how we match up.
  22. so who won the games today
  23.     I wonder what the plan is for Dionte on Friday, will he play, will he play QB, if he doesn't play QB, will he play TE or DE, maybe it's a secret. If Dionte doesn't play  QB, do you go with Sonnier, or the Soph. Raines or a combination of the two. I think I would start Sonnier and run some wildcat and the parts of our offense that suit his style of play, running and some throwing. I'd like to  see him get a chance to get in a groove on offense and run some plays to the wide side of the field in space as well as between the tackles. I think playing the senior would help with turnovers and leadership on the field. Anyone know what is going on this week?
