  1. I'd take my three Varsity girls over and give them everything we had. Then on Mon. there would be 8 girls that would have to worry about playing volleyball cause they'd be turning in there uniforms. If HJ actually agreed to 4:00 that is more than enuff time to get to Brookshire figuring that VB game ended at around 5:30. That still 2 hrs drive time and unless I'm mistaken drill team doesn't preform untill halftime.
  2. Crosby 4 - 0 Barbers Hill 3 - 1 K park,Dayton,GCM 2 -2
  3. Guru, did you ever stop and think about what ETBU stands for. Maybe it stand for a college??? Yes, my friend there are more schools out there other than North Harris CC. I even find it hard to believe that a Falcon parent is supporting a coach in Huffman I guess that must mean your kid play's
  4. The GCM coaching staff was sitting behind me at the Dayton - KP game. You can bet they are having concerns about Dayton's front three. GCM's QB better hope he throws better on the run he will need to.
  5. Baseball, think maybe you got lost. SETXSPORTS has a forum for JV teams it's under Youth Football
  6. WHY??? Are they going to the playoffs this year. Nevermind you asked about the JV team!!
  7. This will be a great game to watch, GCM may have some luck if they can spread out the Dayton D. The Pats front five will have there hands full with Dayton D-line there big, strong, and FAST. Good Luck to both teams.
  8. Kingwood Park 3 - Barbers Hill 2
  9. We'll ge a good idea of this poll after Nederland gets punted by Friendswood!!!! Need to give Dayton a little more respect than 6th.

The veteran Barbers Hill coach can tell it in his bones – or his sick list. “We’ve got the flu, a little strep, a little sprained ankle, a lot of coughing and sneezing going on,†he said Thursday after returning from opening-day play at the Dickinson tournament. “I think at one point today, we were only playing with half our people.†So it must be time to start district volleyball play. For Barbers Hill’s District 19-4A that comes about today. Because of Friday night football conflicts, the league is playing its varsity first (at 4:30 p.m.) on Fridays. Barbers Hill is at Galena Park, Crosby is at C.E. King, Goose Creek Memorial hosts North Forest and Dayton and Kingwood Park lock up in the other first-day match. “It happens,†Leonard said, speaking of players at less than full speed. “It happens almost every year. People get hurt, you go to your bench, you play your next people. “And it’s that time of year for district to start, too. Look down the schedules. We’re past the halfway mark.†Crosby and Barbers Hill shared the top spot in District 19-4A a year ago, each going 13-1 in league play with each team winning the rivalry match on its homecourt. But neither is the team getting all the talk in 19-4A ahead of Friday’s matches. Dayton beat Barbers Hill in a second-round match at the Santa Fe tournament last week. “I think this district is extremely competitive,†Crosby coach Michael Williams said. “Dayton beat Barbers Hill last weekend and Kingwood Park is playing pretty good ball. “I think there will be a lot of teams fighting for four spots.†Crosby carried an 18-1-1 record into the Dickinson tournament, its only loss coming at Santa Fe. “Dayton and Crosby,†were the answers of Goose Creek Memorial coach Misti Clark when asked the teams to beat. “Barbers Hill’s still up there, but Barbers Hill lost to Dayton last week.†Clark’s team is in a funk, she said. The Patriots were 6-11 after falling to Pasadena Memorial and Crosby at the Dickinson tourney Thursday. The coach said she was taking her team off the bus and straight to the gym for some practice upon arrival home Thursday afternoon. “The kids seem to be down on themselves,†she said. “They don’t work together as a team and we’re going to have to make some changes. We’re going to have to mesh. “When we get down, we get really down. We have to get that inner drive. Hopefully, we’ll find it before (Friday) night.†Barbers Hill is now 18-6 overall, including Thursday wins over Angleton, Sam Rayburn and Fort Bend Hightower. “It was a good day for us. We got to play against a bunch of athletic teams,†Leonard said. Such was the case against Dayton, he said. “The truth hurts: we lost. They’re good and they played better than we did for about an hour and we lost to them,†Leonard said. “We came back and beat Nederland, C.E. King and Elsik before losing to Alief Taylor and taking second in the Silver Division at Santa Fe.†And what about district? “I guess Dayton,†he said when asked his team to beat. “I’ll be happy if we can beat Crosby and Kingwood Park. “I think it’s kind of stayed the same since last year. The games all close and well played. But we’re all right. A lot of people would be happy to be 18-6 and playing Pearland on Saturday morning.â€
  11. This is THE website! Oh, and Silsbee dominates!!! ;D IF Silsbee dominates looks like OF and Silsbee will get a district preview. Silsbee's Coach is HOT!!!!
  12. How does LCM look his year?
  13. Refering to Monsterback post Bobcat, I was agreeing with you on the tougher schedule.
  14. Not according to the VB guru Bobcat!!! OF is making great decisions putting stronger teams in their schedule. That's how programs are created, "ADVERSITY" Looks like the coach over there actually does know something afterall.
  15. Not so sure I would use the phrase, " I DON"T KNOW THE GAME THAT WELL" then turn around and start talking about the coaching staff all in the same paragraph. Just an idea!!!
  16. OH Zip, I think it's safe to assume that you must have watched that. If soyou would have noticed a key team member sitting out due to injury. Not to mention, Crosby gave KP everthing they had to win, while KP sputtered in both game 2 & 3. There's still ALOT of fine tuning to do before district starts. Crosby, played a great match I'll give you that but I believe thats as good as it get for them. You, have to know now that all the pressure from match is know sitting on Crosby's shoulders, and all that happened that day was someone threw a can of gas on a fire.
  17. WOW, My bad!! I just looked at the alignment for 3A I didn't know they moved the Bellville district over to Region 4 my how things have changed in 3A. Go Bobcats.
  18. I'd love nothing more than to see an East Texas 3-A school at the state tour. But, you have to figure that road goes threw Bellville and the Brahams get a free ride on tradition alone. Good luck in your travels lady Bobcats.

Share Print Share Del.icio.usDiggTwitterYahoo! BuzzFacebookStumbleUponKey Issues: Who will make it to state in 5A this year? The area is always competitive, but in Region III, it’s hard to look past FB Travis. The Tigers have been a force since they burst on the scene in 2007. In three years, the Tigers have gone from new school to regional finalists. Cypress Woods, Cy-Fair, College Park, The Woodlands and Klein Oak all have the look of state contenders in Region II. Can an area team win the state title this season? Every year this is a question. And since the 2000-2001 year when Cy Falls won the title, the answer has been no. Amarillo has dominated 5A the last three years and looks to be a favorite again. Friendswood made a nice run to state two years in a row in 4A and could be a team to watch. This is a really competitive area, so teams here do have a chance. Who could be some of the surprise teams? Dulles has been off the radar for a couple of seasons, but the Vikings could jump back in this year. They are small but play good defense. Clear Brook has a young squad that turned some heads last year, and everyone is back. Atascocita, which made the second round of the playoffs last year, is another team to keep an eye on. What are some of the top non-district games? Fans looking for key matchups early need look no further than the first day of the season. On Aug. 11, FB Travis plays host to Cy Woods at 6 p.m.; Cy-Fair entertains Cinco Ranch at 6:30 p.m.; Klein travels to Clear Creek at 6 p.m.; and Pearland goes to Stratford at 6:30 p.m. These games should give everyone an idea of what the season will hold. Will the Pearland tournament have the same teams as the last few years? The Pearland Tournament is a place to see some of the top matches in the state. Every year, the tournament gives fans a sneak preview of the state tournament. Amarillo attends, as does San Antonio Reagan and Lake Highlands. This year’s tourney takes place Aug. 27-29 at several Pearland ISD schools. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Preseason all-greater Houston Ashley Bannister || SR. || FB travis || MB/OH Notable: Bannister has turned heads the last three seasons as she helped a young Tiger team grow and was a key part of Travis’ run to the regional final last season. Desiree Elliott || SR. || Cypress Woods || mb/oh Notable: With her length and power at the net, Elliott has helped Cy Woods quickly become one of the top volleyball programs in the area. Lexi Erwin || SR. || College Park || oh Notable: Erwin burst on the scene last season and will once again be an important part of College Park’s success in District 14-5A. Katie Messing || JR. || The Woodlands || mb Notable: At 6-4, Messing towers over most opponents but it isn’t just her size that makes her dangerous. Messing is a smart, fierce competitor and always seems to know the next move before anyone on the court. Chiney Ogwumike || SR. || Cy-Fair || mb Notable: It would be hard to find a more seasoned veteran than Ogwumike, who went to state with Cy-Fair as a sophomore. A four-year starter, Ogwumike stands at 6-3 and has tremendous strength as a hitter and blocker. Malorie Pardo || JR. || Pearland || setter Notable: Pearland has two of the top setters in the area, including Pardo, a junior who is also a threat as an outside hitter. Bethany Yaeger || SR. || Brenham || libero Notable: Yaeger has been a staple on the Cubbette volleyball squad for several years, and it is no wonder why. 20. Larla has commited to just Basketball during the off season. But, with the return of another strong OH that was out last season due to knee surgery I don't see it being much of an issue. KP went threw an offseason as well as every other team in this district and didn't lose any player and the games with BH & KP could have went either way last year. IT WILL BE EXCITING TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS!!!!
  21. I haven't seen Warren, but I do know the coaches very well. You can't get any better than Basinger and Kehtel. These women have worked together for years, love the game, and most importantly love kids. I went through Basinger's program as a player, and she is a huge reason of why I went into coaching. I can guarantee you a great team under her leadership! Love ya, Coach
  22. What did yall see today?
  23. Sorry, to bring this up Zip & Riz but the OH from B-hill "Canon" was the heart and sole of that team. Probably one of the most emotinal leaders of a team that I've ever seen. If she was up the team was up if she was down the team was down. B-hill will suffer greatly from that loss of leadership. As for Dayton, I expect to see them way in front of Crosby after the loss off the Bates twins and OH Nut that team right there will fall way back maybe not even the playoffs.
