All but the 1st 2 district games will all be same site.... Gym 1 jv girls, varsity girls, varsity boys Gym 2 9th boys, jv boys The jv girls and boys will split time playing before the varsity girls....

This why we play the games.... ;)  Regardless of who gets in, the spots will definitely be earned....  Should be interesting games this year with the girls being able to play in front of larger crowds....  It will be nice to see the Hawk Hecklers at some Girl's games....

They have a shot!! Not that young though.... they have a good core of players that have been together a while...

HJ wins 43-39.... This had to be one of the roughest games I have ever been a part of.  Credit to the refs... they let alot go, but they were consistent.  The reason given by an official was the floor.... It was so slick, it was like running on ice.  I don't know if it was due to the construction or what but the facilities at Westbrook are in DIRE need of an upgrade!  Coach White does an awesome job making the girls gym presentable, but for a school the caliber of Westbrook to have to play in conditions like that is somewhat embarrasing.  Rather than try and build aquatics centers and hotels, the powers that be in BISD need to fix what they already have...

What are the records of everyone so far? HJ Varsity is currently 19-5... HJ JV is currently 16-2

I LOVE the band at WOS home games.... the blare their school song... (kinda sounds like the theme to the lone ranger) and it is so loud it makes the hair stand up on your neck... I think HJ will have a band at several district games this season...

looking at the brackets, the dist champ will have navasota in their 2nd game....

HJ wins 68-53....  Ugly game at times....  HJ will be in the Livingston tourney after Christmas....

Even though the rules say the play should keep going, I would do the same.... If the girl fell and hit her face on the floor.... I have walked on the court several times during play to attend to girls who have hit their head... some even were for the other team.  On several occasions, I have had officials tell me to get off the court, but instinct takes over at that point. The rule is the rule, but rules also say: you shouldn't handcheck... you should head to the court at the 15 sec. warning sound during a timeout.... you can't run around the court during pregame warmups a defensive player is entitled to the space above the position they have..

Coach Knowles is doing a great job with those girls!!!  Kelly will be fine.... depth hurt them a little in this one, but they play hard!

how did this one end up?  It is rare for LA teams to play texas teams now due to their playoff ranking system they have in place the past few years....

The student takes down the teacher...... As a former assistant under Knowles at Kelly, Coach Bruce has done a great job at Slocum!

GREAT JOB by Coach Sutherland, Coach Davis, Coach Lee, Coach MArtel, Coach Klinger and all others who helped run this tournament..... Especially Jenny Sutherland who produces the best hospitality room in the area!!!!
