The HJ 9th grade will play when the other teams have a 9th grade squad and also in a few tournaments on their own.  On all other occasions, they will combine with the JV.  It is good Coach Davis is getting these girls the maximum amount of court time possible!!!  It will definitely benefit HJ in the long run.

What schools in the area are fielding 9th grade teams?  It seems like this number is slowly going down each year.

Did anyone else have scrimmages today? HJ played a shorthanded LCM team and looked pretty good at times.... Still alot of work to do though..

I don't care if anybody agrees with me or not.  I'm just giving my opinion.  [/quote] Who was your source???  I was sitting near the phone when Coach Hooks called.  There was no mention of Monday either...  Coach Martel and Coach Hooks had talked several times throughout the day and there was a concern on BOTH parts of travel concerns. Hindsight is always 20/20 but to imply that a school didn't want to play is stupid!  Go meet with coach Hooks tomorrow and get your facts straight. It was a district game to our players as well.  No one wants games to be cancelled.. 

does anyone have stats from only the district games?  These numbers are a little skewed due to the big difference of non-district schedules...

Silsbee and OF have 9th grade teams

Everyone is still playing volleyball, but the first day was still today.... At HJ, this may be the most hard nosed group I have been around in 10 years...  Still some questions, but this group has alot of energy!!

This team is very well coached with the talent that they have. Martel has done a great job!!!! I guess you think that this team has more talent than any team in SE Texas, right??? : : : The only school in the district that has less talent is HF!!!! You're crazy...thats why we beat Orangefield, and have held our own against every other team, just making a few mistakes than the others. HJ has just as much talent as the other teams in our district. Maybe not the huge playmakers that WO-S or Silsbee have, but the team as a whole has just as much talent as any other team in our district. I am thinking that there was alot of sarcasm in the statement that was made..... Just worry about practice and school..... ;D

There was a ref shortage last year.... With it split up, it seems to me like there will be more than enough varsity games to go around.... I do feel that subvarsity games...especially girls subvarsity games and junior high games will be the most affected at all classifications....

I wonder if a certain basketball player from port arthur who is now at UT was kicked off a team and he was a minor at the time if this website would protect him the same way as they are doing with the young man from wos.... : Don't know the kid or the parent and I am sure they are wonderful people... but if this is such an injustice, why is everything so secretive??? Seems like there is alot more to the story...

Look, I have been reading this thread and the First Amendment of the Constitution of the the United States gives us in this country the right to freedom of speech. That being said I also do not think it is open season on the coaches kids and family members because of decision they make on a football field. Leave the family out of it. As for the coaches instilling "life wisdom" to at least my kids the answer is no thanks. That what a PARENT is for. I do understand that some of these young men need that kind of guidance from there coaches because they don't get the support and in those cases I fell sorry for the coaches to even be put in that position and Lord please give them the strength and wisdom to handle those cases. But to sit here and act like these coaches don't bash some of there kids parents is ridiculous. It happens all the time. So lets not act like all coaches are saints because they are not. Do I question the decisions being made on the field both practice and game? yes. My fore fathers gave us that right. Freedom of speech is what makes this website so entertaining. For that I say thank God. But to say you cannot voice your opinion because it might get into a coaches feelings then maybe they might need a career change. Sorry for the rant, but when my Constitutional Rights in this country start to get trampled on I get a little upset. Keep speaking up SE Texas and SETX.com. This is what makes this country strong. God Bless There is not a coach around that does not get criticized... There is a line however....I think that is what this thread is about..... what is the line.....?? Yelling? ok fine.... Yelling personal attacks??? ok fine.... Coming out of the stands to physically challange a coach...??? etc..... You guys should get so riled up about losing your right to question a coach.... just do it in an appropriate manner that does not embarrass yourself or more importantly your children.....
