Wrong....No high school team ever has the same players... every year a team loses seniors and new players move up. EVERY year is a completely new team.... different leaders, different work habits, different situations, etc.... Maybe the football team was young last year and lost due to inexperience.... how many seniors play on the PNG football team this year? Volleyball, softball, cheerleading, jobs, boyfriends, etc all compete for girl athletes attention.... Sometimes kids just don't choose basketball. The PNG folks may have some flaws..... what coaches don't?? I have coached in the area for 9 years now and I will tell you this... the PNG girls play hard! My teams have won each time, but they got after it! Would any of this credit go to the coach?? Sometimes it is just a talent issue... Sometimes the game passes kids up, and sometimes other teams get better...

It may have something to do with athletes living a little bit north towards hwy 59 and going to a school with an indian mascot

The varsity is in the MCDonalds Texas Shootout in Pasadena, The YMBL and the Livingston tourney The jv is in the Nederland tournamnet. I think if the past few years serve as any type of standard, these two teams could play each other 20 times and be 10-10 with no game being decided by more than 8 points.... As far as seeing each other, neither team changes the base of what they do, so I don't see a problem with it...

I don't know you, but as a fellow coach, this type of statement is way out of line. Because a coach doesn't have alot of plays means they are a bad coach??? I have 2 plays if you even call them that and one defense. Does this mean I am terrible and the MS coach is better also? I surely doubt that girls did not play because the coach did have alot of plays. Talent is wasted by players not by coaches.

I think Madisonville is a little under rated.....They have several girls coming back who were really good last year...

Congrats to Coach Tidwell for his efforts to help a young Winnie child with fundraising to receive a bone marrow transplant. There is nothing like events like this to teach young adults the importance of service. Kuddos to Coach Tidwell. Lamar is very lucky to have such a great role model / teacher...

good point coop, in 21-3a let's name the one sport that matters. wos- football bc- of- hj- hf- silsbee- fill in the blank on the school's sport that matter, girls or boys. Right here is where this gets out of hand.... Each coach at each of these schools care about the programs you all are about to start bashing. Just because a school has success at one sport doesn't mean that that is the only sport that is cared about by the coaches, administrators, etc.... Please don't let the conversation go this way....... That is the point that WOS fans have been trying to make. These are two different things: 1. WOS is leaving HJ without a VB game due to their inability to field a team. 2. To open up a conversation about other schools just to deflect the issue off of the WOS administration doesn't belong in a thread titled WOS forfiets district game for football game...

My take is that there are other schools who still have to play games. If the commitment level is not there to fill a team to play scheduled district games, then don't have a varsity team... This scheduling conflict could have been foreseen when schedules were made...(last spring...at the latest the beginning of the school year.) Why not let HJ know ahead of time, so they could at least try and find a game in place of the one they lost. Situation could have been handled better by parents, players etc.... but that is for WOS to address...no one else. Just remember, another school was left without a game.

When HJ is running kickoffs back to the 40 and 50 yard line, they have less field to work with..... naturally, they will have less yards. Neither team could stop the other...You can say all you want, but to discredit HJ's win by saying that EC won in all areas except the score is pretty bad.... Just as you say that the fumbles were the difference in the game, One could easily argue that the two interceptions thrown by hj in the first half that led to EC scores were the reason it wasn't a blowout by HJ... Good Luck to you guys this year, but geez..... take a loss and move on.....

Is the subvarsity team only freshmen??? It seems to me there would be alot of unhappy underclassmen... I hope all the injuries heal up!!!! Hate to see this happen ...

I love it................!!!!!! Did anyone see that they onside kick every time also??? THey were also the Arkansas 5A state champion....

21-3A will be much more competitive this year... OF and HJ will be there, but HF has a good group returning, and WOS ade big strides in regaining what they lost from several years ago....
