nice win by the Lady horns! With 4 games/ playing dates to go, This secures the district championship for HJ, creates a good race for the 2 seed now between Huffman and Liberty and a logjam for the 4 seed with Splendora, Livingston and HF now in the mix... Will be a fun next two weeks. -
Lumberton 67 Little Cypress-Mauriceville 44/FINAL

this picture wins the board for the night!! lol -
The sitting in class stuff matters... the bus rides matter.... Especially when your routine is different all of a sudden! I agree about Coach Anderson.... You guys will be ok once they settle down into the new routine.
-
its so much more than that.... the stuff is fine for most people, deadly for others... You can be forced to have to miss even not having it yourself....Different counties have different rules.... tough times for sure!

Local schools... 5a- #16 Beaumont United (way too low!!! Should e a top 5 team easily... do t let the lack of games fool ya 5a!!) 4a- #1 HJ, #7 Lumberton, #14 Jasper, #25 Silsbee (great showing for our area!!!) 3A- #9 Woodville All these rankings mean nothing right now... especially when one positive covid test at the wrong time could wreck a season... However... its nice to see our area recognized for some great teams locally!

Because of Covid this is just wishful thinking

me too... however.... I have never liked the concept of a warm up game.s, and have never played one.. At that point in the season, you know who your playoff opponents would be... Unless you are a team that needs a morale boost, or are trying to up your win/loss % for seeding in the state tournament, there are few advantages and lots of disadvantages for these type of games (not talking about winning or taking losses..injuries/ $$ lost prep time for games that matter).... thats what the slate of 15-20 non district games are for... -

Sloppy game with no real flow... tried a few new things... some looked good.... some looked like dog doo doo.... on to tuesday... -
we have never played a warmup game.... we tried to reschedule, but it just couldnt work. At this point in the season, extra days have to be used for make ups in case of cancellations... We tried to redo it... we couldnt... we will get it next season... unfortunate, but this covid stuff has wreck havoc on EVERYTHING!!! Good luck to all as the 2nd half of district starts and into the playoffs.... I am seriously hoping that we see a large SETX group in san antonio 6-7 weeks from now, as there are several teams in different classifications that have a shot to get there.

Beaumont United 72 Barbers Hill 38/FINAL
hjhawks replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Girls Basketball
They have played several common opponents.. memorial, png, bhill and northshore... hard to compare any of that stuff... im glad to see the shewolves on the hardwoord! This has been a roller coaster for them!! Here is to a healthy and cancellation free rest of the season! Hopefully setx gets to invade san antonio soon! -
Galena Park 54 Port Neches-Groves 41/FINAL

There are lots of reasons for that.... Different chapters call the games differently. If a team goes into a game and does not adjust, it is on them, not the officials. With COVID, fans have to understand that officiating chapters are severely short handed. In our games, we always get an experienced ref and two younger ones who are being trained up. You can whine about it, adapt and use it to your benefit, or go to the officials association and sign up to help.... In reality those are the three choices you have... I have never seen a ref stop, anaylze the comments from the stands and then change how they were calling... If folks would hush and just cheer for their team... you would be amazed at how much the officiating changes... I know this game had some stuff that crossed the line as far as a ref interacting with a player, but fans have got to let the coaches handle that kind of stuff.. -
